TASTING NOTES:
GSM - “Bright and elegant this Rhone-style blend is bursting with scents of ripe Bing cherries and rose petals. It is juicy and balanced and offers up flavors of strawberries, cassis, and white pepper.“ (AbV 14.9%, pH 3.56, TA 7.1 g/L, RS 0.01)

Petite Sirah - “The nose sets the stage with aromas of black fruits, fresh herbs, and sweet toasted oak. The palate is loaded with blackberries, and Luxardo cherries and gives way to a long and supple finish.” (AbV 14.7%, pH 3.56, TA 6.1 g/L, RS 0.01)

The Odd One - “Bright garnet in color, this Zinfandel meets the Rhone Valley’ blend is redolent of blackberries, and vanilla. The palate is a celebration of red currants, subtle herbs, and strawberry jam. All leading to a lingering finish.” (AbV 15.1%, pH 3.43, TA 7.6 g/L, RS 0.02)

VARIETALS: GSM is 48% Grenache, 32% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre. The Odd One is 81% Zinfandel, 13% Carignan, 6% Mourvedre. Petite Sirah is Petite Sirah.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Oddjob.

His real name is a mystery. What we do know is that Oddjob is Korean (in the original novel) and the number one henchman of Bond villain Auric Goldfinger. A master of various martial arts, he can break sturdy objects with just his hands and feet. Tough, very buff under his suit. In the film, he takes a gold bar to the chest like it’s nothing. He speaks very little if at all, both in the film and the novel, due to a speech disorder. While he’s probably there primarily for his muscle, he has also been Goldfinger’s chauffeur and golf caddy.

Perhaps his most memorable quality is his use of a blade-rimmed hat as his primary weapon. A bowler hat with a chakram inside the brim. When thrown by Oddjob, it can literally cut through steel and stone. His dependence on it would ultimately be his downfall in the film.

Also in the James Bond Jr. cartoon, he wears a ridiculous purple jumpsuit and a giant gold chain with the initials “OJ” on it. What a baller.
