TASTING NOTES: “This 2021 Sonoma Revere Chardonnay is expressively fruit driven, with compelling aromas of mango, clementine, and pineapple, with hints of toasted marshmallow. In the mouth, the wine is creamy and with bright acid, showing flavors of apricot, creme brûlée, and cinnamon lingering throughout the finish.”

VARIETALS: Chardonnay

BARRELS: 18 months in French oak.

PAIRS WITH: Roasted chicken over a butter lettuce salad with shaved Manchego cheese and toasted pumpkin seeds.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Paul Revere. What was the deal with Paul Revere and ride anyway?

Well, Revere was a silversmith by trade, until economic conditions forced him to also practice dentistry. Weird move, but I guess some of the tools work for both. He would join the Sons of Liberty, a group of colonists opposed to the British government under the motto “No taxation without representation.” Revere would become a key figure involved in the monitoring of and dissemination of British troop movements in Massachusetts.

On April 18th, 1775, the British army moved to capture revolutionary leaders in Concord, Massachusetts. Revere would be dispatched alongside William Dawes and Samuel Prescott to send a warning to Lexington and Concord. Though he made it to Lexington, he was intercepted by a British on the way to Concord. They held him for questioning and then I guess just let him go?

After that, he would attempt to join the Continental Army, but they wouldn’t take him. So, he decided to help out with courier work, printing, and securing supplies. He would eventually enter the Massachusetts militia in 1776 until the end of the war. Once the war ended, he went back to metalworking.
