About WineSmith Cellars
Founded in 1993 by Clark Smith, WineSmith Cellars has been focused on exploring Eurocentric wines in ways outside the mainstream. Preferring to create long-term relationships with many different vineyards, WineSmith sources from committed growers rather than run its own vineyard. Clark Smith is an expert in Cabernet Franc, with over 20 vintages from multiple locations. Some of the most notable aspects of Smith’s wines are their longevity, balance, and “understated soulfulness.” In addition, the wines are often aged prior to being released.

TASTING NOTES:
“…brilliant color, firm tannins and rich fruit aromas. Clone 10 is slow to ripen and holds surprising acidity and is characterized by back cherry, cocoa, and sweet anise aromas. The vineyard’s stony volcanic soil imparts energetic mineral energy and surprising longevity… seductive tobacco nuances greatly enhanced its complexity, adding elements of mysterious and intriguing “come hither” aromatics.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.73, Brix 24.3)

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is just a long way of saying “silicosis,” which is pneumonia caused by silica and similar dusts. Despite having “volcano” in the longer name, there have been no cases of silicosis from volcano ash documented thus far. It should be possible, but you’re more likely to get it from mining, construction, and stone working than from a volcano.
