TASTING NOTES: “2021 was one of the best vintages in the last two decades for Northern California. Simply perfect growing and ripening conditions. SOB shows the softer side of Yannick’s favorite red grape - Tannat - and its amazing potential as a blending varietal. Deep and bright black cherry color. Full, generous, elegant and profound nose with notes of blackberries, baked black cherry pie, cassis, dry herbs, dark chocolate, black olives and delicate French oak. A supple entrance leading to a juicy mid-palate mouthfeel. Full-bodied resonance offering sweet spices, cocoa powder, pure dark berries, silky tannins, great balance and fresh long finish.” (AbV 14.7%)

VARIETALS: 42% Tannat, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma & Napa), 8% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot.

BARRELS: 20 months in French oak, 20% new.

PAIRS WITH: Meat lasagna, pork chop, a bowl of chili, meatloaf, eggplant parmesan or a juicy hamburger.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: You reap what you sow!

Pretty straightforward phrase. You sow seeds and then later you reap whatever grows. Extrapolate that to any behavior. In essence, your actions have consequences, good and bad.

What I didn’t realize was the usage that essentially engrained it in Western society was from the Bible. The English version we know now doesn’t even show up until the 16th or 17th century. This is because the Bible wasn’t translated to English until the 16th century, and those translations were, early on, very much not well received by the Catholic Church.
