Grapes were hand-picked and brought directly to the winery in 1/2 ton totes. They were carefully sorted by hand; whole cluster pressed and placed into temperature controlled stainless steel fermenters where it was slowly cold fermented at 45°F for maximum varietal character. The wine was fermented in small lots so we could use more than one yeast strain to give more complexity to the aromatics. It was an extremely cool, slow fermentation that took more than a month to complete. The wine was aged in stainless steel before being bottled and then aged in bottle a minimum of one year.

When Dr. Robert Pamplin, one of Oregon’s most forward-thinking philanthropists and businessmen, purchased the historic Chateau Benoit Winery in 1999, his vision was to create wines of the highest quality to reflect his passion for excellence. To this end Dr. Pamplin has charged winemaker Thomas Houseman and winegrower Peter Ebbers with the task of crafting extraordinary pinot noir. Thomas, Peter, and the rest of the crew are absolutely passionate about producing wines of the finest quality and have dedicated their lives to this quest.
Pinot reigns supreme at Anne Amie Vineyards with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc forming the heart of our production. Complementing the pinot family is Old-Vine Estate Müller Thurgau, planted in 1979. As with all great wines, our’s start in the vineyards. We are fortunate to have some of Oregon’s best sites, all of which are Salmon Safe and LIVE certified. Our estate vineyards, along with those we purchase from, receive only the minimal required treatments and yields are dramatically reduced in order to give fruit with great depth and complexity.
Our estate vineyards are located in the rolling hills of the Yamhill-Carlton District and on the steep hillsides of the Chehalem Mountains, both nestled in Oregon’s verdant Willamette Valley. Our LIVE certified winery is located on our Yamhill-Carlton property, a few miles from both Lafayette and Carlton, Oregon.

Tried this straight out of the ice box with only a few minutes to let it breathe. My first words (other than “Mmm!”) were, “This tastes like pure Riesling drizzled on a snowball.” Which was a compliment, by the way. It had this crisp and pure flavor. Pure Riesling.
It’s the minerality that gave me the impression of munching on a snowball, and trying the wine so cold hid the layers that I’d taste later. But I was already sold on it as an all purpose wine for the holiday season.
This went great with the Italian sausage stuffed acorn squash I had tonight, and I’d happily serve it with roasted turkey covered in gravy, baked ham, feast of the seven fishes, and more. It’s a dry Riesling, which I prefer, and cuts through rich foods quite nicely.
A little later as the wine warmed up some, notes of key lime and pineapple made themselves known in both the aroma and flavor. Some stone fruit as well.
My only negative note is one that can be prevented. I thought it was not at its best once it reached room temperature. The flavors were still good but the acidity’s prominence jumped up to a level that I don’t prefer. During a standard length meal, when served at the desired temperature, I wouldn’t think that’d be an issue.
Overall, this is a fantastic example of Dry Riesling done justice. For those of you who stay away from Rieslings due to their sweet tendencies, this could be the one for you.
Thanks for sending this my way, Casemates. I always appreciate the opportunity!
Anne Amie, I haven’t had a wine from your vineyard that I didn’t end up buying more of. Great job!
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

2015 Anne Amie Oregon Estate Dry Riesling - $35 = 25.92%
@chipgreen I love Anne Amie wines and at this price I think I want a case. I need dry Riesling. I got a little up in Traverse City, MI on the annual fishing trip. Until I talk to family, I won’t know if any will be available from my case. I’ll post later.
@chipgreen I’m trying to sit one the sidelines and just watch…I’ve got so much wine. But if you want me to take a few to round out the case you bought you know you can always count on me.
@chipgreen Looks like the Anne Amie might be arriving tomorrow. It got into Grove City around 3:30 this afternoon!! Usually then arrives overnight to Richfield and loaded to be delivered!!
Hey just wondering if there are any Asheville NC folks around? I’m usually Portland OR but will be in Asheville over the Winter, always interested in splitting out part of cases if anyone is nearby. I know it’s not a big community but figure there might be some winey-type-of-people there.
Anne Amie is becoming an autobuy for me. Everything I seem to get from them is a solid QPR, and “solid” may be an understatement. Looking forward to trying this one:

Rat review!
from Michelle: Slightly sweet but not super sugary syrupy. Light mouth feel. I find it crisp. Goes well with the tilapia and baked potato we had for dinner. Not as good with the chocolate cake I had for dessert. I’m super picky and unpredictable in what I do and don’t like lately, but I drank this happily. (Joel says it’s my favorite wine in months based solely on the fact that I finished a glass and asked for more.) Definitely better at 60° or slightly higher (64 seems pretty perfect to me). I’m fighting sinus issues so my sense of smell is off. I got apple juice, and was promptly told by everyone else in the house (Joel and 3 kids ranging in age from 4 to 9) that I was wrong.
from Joel: pop (twist?) and pour straight from the fridge was definitely too cold. barely any nose and slight gasoline on the tongue. Very thin, but you could definitely taste (feel?) the acidity and a hint of mineral. So, we let it warm in the glass during salad course before the rest of dinner. After 5 minutes no real changes, so decided to get out the infrared thermometer, noted wine at 55 degrees. At 57.5 degrees not much change, but some stone fruits (apricot?) start to emerge on the nose. At 60 degrees this wine begins to really flourish… light honeysuckle and stronger stone fruit on the nose, obviously not getting any fuller mouth, but the strong acidity softens a bit or becomes less “sharp”, the minerality really shines on the palate, and the gasoline lessens. Michelle liked it best even warmer, as noted above, but I thought it lost some of the minerality and 60 was best for me.
Definitely a good choice with the tilapia in a light butter, garlic, and herb preparation. Decent with the baked potato, which I topped with butter, pimento-cheddar cheese, plain greek yogurt, and some chipotle sauce.
Not bad as a stand alone sipper, but better with food. The acidity definitely cuts through the richness of milkfat.
We put the QPR at around $10-12 per bottle, so this offer comes in even better! Thanks to WineDavid and Ariana for the rattage!
@jasisk “decided to get out the infrared thermometer” Love it ! I can’t wait to do this in front of my wife who said, “when are you ever going to use that thing”?
Sounds like a perfect Turkey Day wine - just slightly sweet enough to please those that crave that but, served more chilled, dry enough for those who don’t like any sweetness whatsoever . . .
@KNmeh7 No response from anyone yet. I’m in for 3-4 (or up to 6 if necessary), for sure. I’ve been a fan of the AA whites for a long time, and this just looks super enticing.
Any SoCal interest? I wish i could remember what i thought of it when i visited… So i’m not particularly committing yet, just curious if anyone WAS going to get any.
Posting before reading the other comments. Picked the wine up today and put it in the chiller that cooled it to about 50 degrees, I think.
Bottle: tall Riesling style. Screwcap. Wine looks a little effervescent (but we didn’t taste this at all). Pretty label.
Color: pale straw gold.
Smell: Riesling. Classic petrol, not in an unpleasant way. A little apple maybe.
Taste: definitely dry. A little terse? Doesn’t have the fruit forward characteristics that I associate with some other dry rieslings.
This definitely improved as it warmed up. I was getting a bit of honey on the finish after the bottle had been out for an hour, but it was odd to be drinking white wine warmish.
This wine is the Pinot Grigio of Rieslings to me. What do I mean by that? It’s solid, it’s well-made, but it’s bland. I thought maybe more of a food wine but I’m not sure with what. Maybe some creamy cheese? We had already planned our meal of pork chops with apricot sauce and blue cheese kale and I would say the pairing was OK. The sweet in the food needed a sweeter white wine or a Pinot noir I think.
Based on the rattage, in for a case. Seriously WD, please offer something I won’t be tempted to buy. I need to be paying off the bathroom remodels.

@carl669 I could take 3, maybe 4, but not 6. This is my way of exercising restraint.
That said, I live in Sioux Falls but get to the Twin Cities about once a month, so I could pick it up on one such trip. If that works for you, it works for me!
I realize its all personal taste but after many years I have found Riesling to be the best wine to go with the variety of foods on Thanksgiving. It also accompanies me to almost all Thai resturants (Live in a BYO State).
The other wine for Thanksgiving - my wifes go to - is Pinot Noir.
Hey, everyone! It’s Thomas, the winemaker from Anne Amie. Happy to answer any questions you might have about this Riesling. I poured it last night at a benefit dinner, so flavors are fresh in my mind. It was a great pairing, btw: Roasted kabocha squash & Granny Smith apple curry soup with a shredded Mt. Rose apple salad op top of the soup. Curry squash soup + our Riesling gets my seal of approval for Thanksgiving.
Got a case this afternoon. Reading the comments above, I’m thinking I should get another. Will talk to @miraclewhispers and see how many bottles she wants. I really need to buy another wine cellar, or torture my liver a lot more than I have been.
Anybody have tracking info on this yet? It’s supposed to be delivered by this time next week. I’d have thought we’d have a tracking # by now. Is FedEx sulking over being jilted by WD?
@InFrom@radiolysis
No tracking for mine either. Is FedEx sulking over being jilted by WD?
I think so, they lost my mixed case of Winesmith bottles 2 weeks ago!
@chipgreen@InFrom@Winedavid49@catcoland@radiolysis Mine (partial case) shipped today. I got the notification from FedEx yesterday, but it actually arrived at the FedEx location in Windsor, CA today. (and I got the tracking email from Casemates just a few minutes ago)
@catcoland@chipgreen@radiolysis@TimW@Winedavid49 Mine traveled through IA to the balmy Chicago area on Monday, and if the tracking info is correct, that’s where it’s sat since late Monday night. The most recent check-in says it’s still in transit at Berkeley, IL as of 4:30 this morning.
If there’s really been no movement, it doesn’t look good for delivery before Monday.
@catcoland@chipgreen@InFrom@radiolysis@Winedavid49 It looks like mine sat in the FedEx hub for a couple days, which is a bit unusual. So mine’s been delayed a couple days and now scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I’m wondering if this is related to holiday shipping rush.
@chipgreen@InFrom@radiolysis@TimW@Winedavid49 I redirected mine & it was delivered to my preferred Fedex location here in WNY on Wednseday. I picked it up yesterday, my last Fedex shipment from Casemates.
@catcoland@chipgreen@radiolysis@TimW@Winedavid49 Did yours show any tracking movement before it was delivered? Mine’s apparently still sitting in Berkeley. Reminds me of that song, “anchored down in Anchorage”
@catcoland@chipgreen@InFrom@radiolysis@Winedavid49 yes, mine did show intermediate movement and tracking updates except for those 2 days where it apparently was somewhere at the local hub or facility. For 46 hours there were no updates after “at local FedEx facility” update. Then, after 46 hours, it had that same update again, “at local FedEx facility”. Then 24 hours later that same update again. Then it was actually delivered on that day. Kinda weird, but I guess the holiday shipping rush is causing this.
@chipgreen@InFrom@radiolysis@TimW@Winedavid49 My last Winesmith mixed case was MIA for almost 2 weeks, put in a trouble ticket with Fedex & CS here…then one day it just showed up with a 2nd label saying it had been sent to the wrong address.
@catcoland@chipgreen@radiolysis@TimW@Winedavid49 Funny timing – all these FedEx deliveries have been signed for at our front desk, and I’ve never actually interfaced with the driver. Today, my very last FedEx, I caught the guy as he rolled the box down the hall, past my office. He was happy to accept a gift, he likes red, so I gave him a Slingshot. Now to open my Anne Amie!
Picked up at my Fed Ex store yesterday for our last incoming Fed Ex shipment. Fortuitously, it was well chilled on the truck. Pop and pour sampling last night got the Anne Amie Riesling two thumbs up! A nice way to head into the weekend.

Sounds like a perfect Turkey Day wine - just slightly sweet enough to please those that crave that but, served more chilled, dry enough for those who don’t like any sweetness whatsoever . . .
@tercerowines Better than The Outlier? Or a nicely aged Zin? (Although to be fair, you only make one of those…)
@klezman better? Different . . .
Dear whomever lit up the map in CMH, care to share a couple bottles? Was that you, @knmeh7?
@drhellknow It was not, but I seriously contemplated ordering. I adore their Pinot Blanc, and am trying to try more whites.
If you want some, that will push me over the fence to order. (Assuming the mystery Cbus buyer hasn’t already responded to you.)
@KNmeh7 No response from anyone yet. I’m in for 3-4 (or up to 6 if necessary), for sure. I’ve been a fan of the AA whites for a long time, and this just looks super enticing.
@drhellknow @KNmeh7 I absolutely love Anne Amie and would take a few, say 2-4. @drhellknow knows how to find me.

@KitMarlot @KNmeh7 yay!
@drhellknow @KNmeh7 I had no idea, until just now, that one could click on the map and see county-level results. Sweet.
@klezman I just wish I could pan/zoom in the map—some county lines are weird.
@drhellknow @klezman @KNmeh7 Seriously, you didn’t know that? Never clicked on the map before?
Can’t turn this one down- especially a dry Riesling.
If any central-Illinois folks want a couple, let us know.

Any SoCal interest? I wish i could remember what i thought of it when i visited… So i’m not particularly committing yet, just curious if anyone WAS going to get any.
@radiolysis I may have an office split happening, but that would likely deplete most of a case, as Riesling is his favorite.
Mostly as a follow up – i ordered a 4-pack in case someone wants to try (albeit at a good price instead of great).
@radiolysis We never did the case split, so if you want to offload one or two, that works.

Then it was actually delivered on that day. Kinda weird, but I guess the holiday shipping rush is causing this.
@catcoland @chipgreen @radiolysis @TimW @Winedavid49 I’ll see where things stand on Monday. No movement since 12/9 does not bode well though. I suppose that’s what Support is for.
@chipgreen @InFrom @radiolysis @TimW @Winedavid49 My last Winesmith mixed case was MIA for almost 2 weeks, put in a trouble ticket with Fedex & CS here…then one day it just showed up with a 2nd label saying it had been sent to the wrong address.
@catcoland @chipgreen @radiolysis @TimW @Winedavid49 Finally! I see it got to the nearby hub in NJ yesterday, and looks primed to be on the truck tomorrow.
@catcoland @chipgreen @radiolysis @TimW @Winedavid49 Yep, it’s on the truck. Happy birthday to me!
@catcoland @chipgreen @radiolysis @TimW @Winedavid49 Funny timing – all these FedEx deliveries have been signed for at our front desk, and I’ve never actually interfaced with the driver.
