What weird taste? Maybe I just thought that’s what cilantro tastes like.
@arielleslie Kind of bitter but almost like a soap. It’s like an immediate shock on your tongue.
@ThomasF Weird. I must not have that.
@arielleslie Salsa & Guac wouldn’t be the same without it
@arielleslie I have always said cilantro tastes like soap to my wife. I was cooking some tortilla soup the other night with fresh cilantro and it smelled like hot dishwater to me in the house. Soup turned out great though. A little goes a long way.
@mshilko It tastes like soap and you eat it anyway?
@arielleslie Smells like soap I said, tastes ok once cooked I guess.
@arielleslie I guess I did say taste. Maybe raw vs cooked. i will have to pay better attention to when it tastes like soap. I like it in my soup, no soap taste.
I eat cilantro with Mexican food. It’s a favorite for me, neither soapy nor bitter.
Apparently it’s a genetic thing. Some people have a gene that makes it taste like soap. My mother-in-law, and my wife, for example. I, on the other hand, have no problem with it.
If it tastes like soap, maybe that’s one way to get kids to eat it instead of Tide Pods.
Hate it! Ruins the whole dish for me, wine can’t even fix it
What relevance does this have to universal existence?
They say it’s a genetic thing, and yet sometimes I get soap/lotion, and sometimes I don’t.
@marla25 Probably depends on where on the tongue it registers.
@ThomasF The whole tongue map thing is a myth. All areas of the tongue taste pretty equally.
