The 2014 Estate Merlot is a firmly structured wine that will please even the most discerning Cabernet lover. Medium bodied and classically styled, our cool-climate Yountville vineyard that adjoins the winery delivers mouth-watering acidity. Deep in color, the invitingly ripe, red berry aromatics on the nose are laced with cigar box, vanilla, cedar and dried floral notes. The scents carry through on the palate of red and black raspberry, dried cranberry and a subtle, herbaceous spice.
The 2015 Cabernet franc has a beautifully perfumed bouquet of fresh spring flowers, ripe red raspberry, red currant jam and lightly kissed with cocoa powder. The palate is bolder than the delicate bouquet suggests. Medium to full bodied and velvety soft the red fruits explode with concentration and ripeness. Bright and lively acidity carries the juicy fruit just perfectly for a wonderful combination of fruit and baking spice. A wonderful example of Cabernet Franc from the Coombsville AVA.
The 2015 D6 is a proprietary blend combining our most flavorful varietals, and is our “drink and enjoy” Cabernet Sauvignon. Red raspberry, red currant, vanilla, and white pepper mingle with lightly toasted oak on the nose. The palate is soft with a very fine tannin structure. The red fruits carry onto the palate along with a spice cabinet of flavors. Supple Cabernet sauvignon tannins are a delicious accompaniment to steaks, veal, and lamb chops, while the syrah brings delicious forward fruit to the nose and finish – the ultimate steakhouse wine.

Bell Wine Cellars Mixed Reds - $90 = 28.13%

@jmdavidson1 I would be interested in 3. I just can’t bring myself to get a full case (overflowing rack, cases stacking, retirement in 6 months and not too long after that having to move it all).

@bolligra I want to get some of these. Last time I bought a Bell offer I was dissappointed I only got 2 bottles… might get a full case. I’ll let you know.
@knlprez OK, sounds good. If you decide to get your own case, I think I’ll just keep all of mine. If not, I’ll still split. This seems like a great deal!
@bolligra Sounds like a plan! I’ve only had the cab sauv from Bell, but it was really good. I know the cab sauvs will need some serious bottle time, I would guess the others do too if they are true to the Bell style.

@InVinoVeritas I’d be down for a three-pack as well. I know I had also said the same for the Whitehall Lane 2-pack with you and @Vince247 . I just got back from a 2 week vacation behind the great firewall of China and wasn’t able to respond in a timely manner. LMK!
This is a great little collection of wines from two excellent vintages. And they will age very nicely. Thank you for the kind comments about our wines - all of us at the winery greatly appreciate your support.
I think the Merlot will certainly age very nicely for the next 5 to 8 years. The Cabernet component is Clone 6 (our signature wine) and we know that wine can age 20+ years. I would not hang to the Cabernet franc for more than 5 years. I think the bright fruit component is a key part of the wine and personally I would like to drink the wine with youth, versus the development of bottle bouquet. The D-6 is a great wine from a great vintage and will age very gracefully. The combination of Cabernet clones gives the wine many layers of both fruit and structure and you could really enjoy this wine with 8 to 10 years of age. I have always felt that a delicious bottle of wine is a Napa Cabernet with around 10 years of age! Enjoy the wines.
I can’t imagine anyone who experienced the terrific wines at Bell when we visited the winery on the most recent rpm Tour missing out on this deal. Especially at this “screaming deal” case price. Open to a split with the other Buffalo area folks.
@ddeuddeg I orderd a case also, sorry. Will probably split with a coworker…but only if I have to! These are the kind of offers that made woot so great for me, small production, quality juice, really happy to see Casemates continuing the tradition!
@catcoland No apologies necessary. Looks like I’ll be stuck with a case. LOL. You’re dead right about this being the kind of offer that made w.w special. If this keeps up, the $60 I spent on free shipping will be paid back before the summer solstice.
@catcoland@ddeuddeg yeah, I never partook in ww but for some reason casemates drew me in and my wallet is so sad for it. i wish casemates offered some finger lakes stuff though.
@catcoland@noodles Your wallet may be sad, but your cellar will he happy. Be patient on the Finger Lakes stuff. It could happen; it did on w.w. BTW, we were in Geneva Saturday night and had a wonderful bottle of 2008 Cabernet Franc from Shaw Vineyards, right on the shore of Seneca Lake.
Damn, went to order a case and they are sold out already, had to settle for a 3 pack. Forgot the Wednesday offer starts on Tuesday night.
That’s what I get for to many margaritas last night and a Bell Cab tonight.
It would be really nice to find somebody from WA state that would be willing to go together on some future deals. Eastern WA ideally. Anyone out there?
Something to ponder while waiting for the next deal…
It surprises me that you cannot buy the smaller allotments in multiples, i.e. 2 or 3 of the 3-packs. It’s either a few or a lot, no in-between!
@billmort@dmyers314 No offense, but the deals release Monday, Wed, and Friday. Always.1200AM EST. Until/If the emails ever come sooner just check on those days.
@billmort I imagine that most of their sales lose momentum after the first day, leading them to implement these 2nd-day emails in hopes of stirring up more business. And I further imagine that the emails are done automatically. It does seem a bit like rubbing salt on a wound when there’s a (rare) sellout, but I don’t think they do it to be spiteful, it’s just a bot.
@billmort@InFrom InFrom, you are not only a kind and compassionate individual, in this case you are almost certainly quite accurate, especially about their not doing it to be spiteful.
@billmort@jml326 I’m aware that they release Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It’s that the email doesn’t come out until the next day and I’m sufficiently busy at work that the email acts as a prompt to me to look at something that might be interesting. As such, I’d rather the email came out sooner. Delay of a bit to allow for some discussion is fine - but a delay of a full day is too much if the quantities won’t be sufficient to allow for the offer to still be available.
Further, by delaying a day, it reduces the opportunity to find others who would split a case with you.
So, while you ask that no offence be taken, I kind of do take offence. You aren’t considering additional aspects where the current approach causes issues.
@dmyers314 Yes the email is an issue showing up late, but if you are aware of the release date then come on those days. By waiting for a late email you are only shorting yourself. Until things change here you’ll just have to find the time in your busy work schedual, like all of us, and check for the offer. Maybe in the morning while taking care of “personal” business or eating breakfast.
@billmort@dmyers314@jml326 I avoid the “delay” problem by subscribing to @chipgreen 's Pricing thread, since he’s super on the ball about posting soon after the offer goes up. So effectively, I get an email reminding me that the new offer is up, since the delayed email is such an annoyance a day late.
@marla25 thanks for the tips…i usually check every day of release but that will make sure doesn’t slip my mind… this is the 2nd amazing offer from napa i have missed and won’t wait on others again.
Loved these wines at the launch party. Wineaux friends have mentioned Bell before but I had no idea they’d be ao tasty. Surprised and yet not that this sold out early. Guess the plastic gets a slight reprieve.
@rjquillin FedEx called me to say that it was “damaged in transit” and would be returned to sender per “shipper instructions”. It was already at my local sorting facility. Funny that they can’t deliver what’s left of it 10 minutes away but they can ship it all the way back to California?
@klezman@rjquillin Ron, since you’re holding a few bottles for me at this point, I could trade you 3 of my Bell (i got a case but honestly don’t need all of them) for some of those wines, and you could give those to @klezman (since you know them better). Or keep for yourself. Would that work?
@klezman@rjquillin@tklivory The tragedy with Canada is that they could’ve had the British culture, the French food and the American technology, but they got the American culture, the British food, and the French technology

Hmm all three varietals I need, from a region I like… looking up notes. Fortunately a bonus came soooo. Meh, in for a case potentially.
Ok Nj or Eastern Pa folks… anyone interested in splitting a case?
I’m in for the case. <$20/bottle. Bell is an auto-buy for me. Sorry, Chgo group, went solo on this.
@jmdavidson1
@jmdavidson1
yup, my thoughts exactly.
@karenhynes Just what does that emoji mean? Now it’s like you need a picture dictionary to interpret the goofy faces.
@jmdavidson1 @karenhynes “astonished”

@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin I did the same, debating if I want to make a single set of 3 available to the local peeps…
@chipgreen @jmdavidson1 Nope!
@rjquillin

Anyone interested in building me a new wine rack? My other one is full and I have begun stacking boxes in my cellar.
SE MI peeps…went solo on this one. Get your own!
In for a case! Bell at this price is a steal!!
Any DFW 4 way splits? My plastic hurts right meow…but wouldn’t mind one of each at the $20 pricepoint…
@kapok6 I’ll do half if needed gladly if someone else in dfw wants to do 1 set of each. That would cover a case.

@katherine @MSUMike Im in for 3 bottles if anyone else wants to jump in. Just not looking to spend $120 on 6 right now as i have a few trips this month that are putting a dent in the wallet.

@hey_zeus @MSUMike I looks like this sold out Did anybody that was willing to split hit the magical button?
@kapok6 are you still looking for takers on this one?
@hey_zeus @kapok6 Well dangit… I was hoping for some more to pop out in case format… instead it all sold out. Oh well my wallet just breathed a sigh.
Any Minnesota folks want to share a case? I’m interested in half (6 total, 2 of each).

@coynedj
Perfect, I live off Hwy 169 in St. Peter. So, either there or in the Twin Cities. I’ll order a case now!
@Rooboy I drive up 169 every trip - sounds great. Let me know when it arrives, and we’ll try to time it right.
OK, I bought a case, willing to let 6 bottles go to someone in Denver/Boulder area (I’m Broomfield).

About The Winery
Winery: Bell Wine Cellars
Owner: Anthony Bell, Ron Berberian, and Alex Spanos
Founded: 1998
Location: Yountville, CA, Napa Valley
Bell Wine Cellars is committed to handcrafting limited edition bottlings of extraordinary wines that reflect the terroir of their vineyards & the care and passion of their growers.
“ Wine is grown in the vineyard. We are merely stewards of nature while the wine is in our cellar.” Anthony Bell
Situated off the beaten path, just south of Yountville, is an exquisite pale stone winery, shrouded by oak, bordered to the south by Hopper Slough, surrounded by vineyard and cloaked in quiet. After looking for twenty years, winemaker Anthony Bell found the perfect place to produce the wines he had long dreamed of - limited production, hand crafted wines that showcase the concept of “terroir”. In 1998, Bell Wine Cellars opened its doors to the public to share the beauty of the place, and the wine.
In June 2002 - Ron Berberian, former California wine wholesaler, and Alex Spanos, owner of the San Diego Chargers, formed Spanos Berberian Winery, LLC. The venture acquired interest in the brand name and assets of Bell Wine Cellars, and a new partnership was formed with Anthony.
Nestled between the stacks of aromatic barrels and towering stainless steel tanks, guests can taste the signature Bell Cabernet, at the intimate, elegant tasting room. We also serve Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah, encompassing a wide range of flavors, from vineyards both near and far afield.

Whats going on here. I hope it’s your page and not my browser. @Thumperchick
@jml326 We had an issue that caused the specs post to show up late. No worries.
NYC I am willing to share. I had to click the order button 4 times to try to get this. Hope I didn’t buy 4 cases…
@InVinoVeritas I would take a three-pack from you.
@InFrom Great! Schedule with willkimmail [google]
@InVinoVeritas I’d be down for a three-pack as well. I know I had also said the same for the Whitehall Lane 2-pack with you and @Vince247 . I just got back from a 2 week vacation behind the great firewall of China and wasn’t able to respond in a timely manner. LMK!
AUTO BUY
This is a great little collection of wines from two excellent vintages. And they will age very nicely. Thank you for the kind comments about our wines - all of us at the winery greatly appreciate your support.
Anyone around Columbus OH interested in a split? I’d love to grab some of this but my space is filling faster than I can consume…

Yassss! Love Bell wines!
What are the thoughts on drinking windows for the three offered here?
@dodohead @AnthonyBell
@ddeuddeg I ordered a case - willing to part with 3, or 6 if you want. Heh heh
@catcoland @ddeuddeg yeah, I never partook in ww but for some reason casemates drew me in and my wallet is so sad for it. i wish casemates offered some finger lakes stuff though.
@catcoland @ddeuddeg Maybe even before the vernal equinox!
@catcoland @noodles Your wallet may be sad, but your cellar will he happy. Be patient on the Finger Lakes stuff. It could happen; it did on w.w. BTW, we were in Geneva Saturday night and had a wonderful bottle of 2008 Cabernet Franc from Shaw Vineyards, right on the shore of Seneca Lake.
I ordered a case! I bought a set of Bell cabs on Woot a while ago which were just fantastic. This is a great deal.
@WineRudy I’m in the same boat! Thinking I should get a case…
I’m getting so many miles!
/giphy humbling-heated-prune
@capnjb I wonder if there’s a card out there that gives extra points for wine
@Asparagus Well on valentines day I give my wife a card and a nice bottle of wine. I think I get extra points for that. But probably not.
So very tempting, but too much wine!
…and the hits just keep coming!

Nono…sold out So sad I can’t handle it.
Really? Sold out for the case? Boo!
I just ran home for my credit card and now it’s sold out. I’m gutted.
@redrawker There is a big group from the seattle area. IDK about eastern WA but there are probably a few out there.
Dang, that didn’t last long
Something to ponder while waiting for the next deal…
It surprises me that you cannot buy the smaller allotments in multiples, i.e. 2 or 3 of the 3-packs. It’s either a few or a lot, no in-between!
@chipgreen Maybe I’ve missed something, but I have not found out how to purchase multiple cases, unless that is and never will be an option.
@chipgreen @mrn1 multiple accounts for multiple cases right now.
Also forgot this started Tuesday night. Dang, would of loved to been able to get at least 3!
Man, glad I jumped on this one early. I’m going to have wine coming out my ears but it will be consumed!

WD, please bring this back.
Why in the world are you sending out event notices at 12:01 AM on Wednesday for a deal that is already sold out?
@billmort yeah that email sucks. Sending input a day after the wine launches.
@billmort Same issue for me - email arrives, I click, it’s already sold out.
@billmort @dmyers314 No offense, but the deals release Monday, Wed, and Friday.
@billmort @InFrom InFrom, you are not only a kind and compassionate individual, in this case you are almost certainly quite accurate, especially about their not doing it to be spiteful.
@billmort @InFrom It was explained earlier, the delay is to allow for some discussion to get posted so you laggards can have something to read.
@billmort @jml326 I’m aware that they release Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
@billmort @dmyers314 @jml326 I avoid the “delay” problem by subscribing to @chipgreen 's Pricing thread, since he’s super on the ball about posting soon after the offer goes up. So effectively, I get an email reminding me that the new offer is up, since the delayed email is such an annoyance a day late.
@ddeuddeg

@javadrinker Had you been on the '14 tour, you’d have been all over this like a June bug on a pile of $#!t.
@javadrinker @rjquillin Didn’t know June bugs were that fond of salt.

Ugh… fedex buggered my package. Contacted support hoping for a replacement but if Casemates operates like WW did I am going to be SOL.
@chipgreen Let us know how Casemate customer support does with this. It’ll be good to know. Sorry about your loss, btw.
@chipgreen @jmdavidson1
how so?
Picking up mine this evening, saw it yesterday, and it was intact.
@chipgreen @rjquillin Mine arrived today and all is (are) well.
@rjquillin FedEx called me to say that it was “damaged in transit” and would be returned to sender per “shipper instructions”. It was already at my local sorting facility. Funny that they can’t deliver what’s left of it 10 minutes away but they can ship it all the way back to California?
@rjquillin I missed this one…happy to take a couple off your hands if you have extra
@klezman I really should have doubled down on this one, but didn’t.
@klezman @rjquillin Ron, since you’re holding a few bottles for me at this point, I could trade you 3 of my Bell (i got a case but honestly don’t need all of them) for some of those wines, and you could give those to @klezman (since you know them better). Or keep for yourself. Would that work?
@rjquillin @tklivory If that’s what y’all want to do it’s fine with me.
@klezman @tklivory You got a case to solo?
Wise man.
But it would be nice to help the Canadian that flaked on his order.
@chipgreen How is Casemates’ customer service doing with this?
@klezman @rjquillin @tklivory The tragedy with Canada is that they could’ve had the British culture, the French food and the American technology, but they got the American culture, the British food, and the French technology
@jmdavidson1 Got this email today;
Hello,
WCC is shipping a replacement. New tracking number is: 747796836093821
Enjoy!
I was pleasantly surprised.
We had a bottle of the Bell Cab Franc last night. It was spectacular!
@GatorFL We did too. Very nice!
