@InFrom@radiolysis The Chinese knock-off version I got last year for $40 has been good. It’s not as nice as the original but it gets the job done for 1/3 the price. I got from Ali Express.
The Durand 69 has long been the go to device for ancient, pesky, recalcitrant corks. It almost never goes on sale, but @Ophelia.S has uncorked a pair of Durand deals just for us! And the WB-branded leather sheath is comin’ back!
Ooh, a WB-branded leather sheath for your Durand! Who can resist?
@rjquillin and I are going to split the Berserker-chosen Sandeler Pinot. Great wines at a great price.
Otherwise we have no idea what’s coming for another 12 hours!
@DanOR@InFrom@klezman I found these as ‘simpler’ than the other Franny Beck svd wines; with a bit of bottle variation from the mixed case from last year. Still very nice, elegant, but Oregon for sure.
@DanOR I’m glad you replied, because I’m afraid my notes wouldn’t have offered much guidance to @klezman. In a nutshell, I liked all three vintages I tried, with the '19 my favorite.
@DanOR@InFrom Looks like I’ve busted my wine bottle acquisition count so I probably have to pass on these. If somebody local was wanting to split I might be able to join but I’ve been tempted too much already!
Lagier Meredith Syrah
Six Cloves Zin
Sandler Berserker Pinot
Goodfellow
Patty Green blueberry wine
Even though I don’t need them, I was looking forward to ordering more Morgan Ranch steaks. However, I’m underwhelmed by the options/offers. The offers amount to a free pound of ground beef and a package of kabobs, and that doesn’t cause an impulse purchase for me. I can order items offered directly from their website any time throughout the year. I still need to look through the other things.
Does anyone know what the “end time” is for early purchase offers today?
Nothing is really leaping out at me though I am at work and only reviewing on my phone (and rapidly developing a headache. ). Will be easier to poke around at home tonight.
The increasing interest in Oregon wines is impressive. Unfortunately it’s accompanied by increasing prices, although BD16 still has some great deals. Already mentioned is Franny Beck’s Our wines, and Sunbreak never disappoints. This year I’m especially interested in the newcomers Cortell Collection and Royer Vineyard
There’s no getting around the fact that I have too much wine. The plan is to get some Flannery hangers and call it a day. We’ll see how that works out.
@hscottk@kaolis Don’t often get a chance to get a 107 rib! Not to mention that the pricing for the 109 (which is the standard cut) is only marginally more than what I paid at Costco last time around. And this comes with all the rest of the labour.
@kaolis@klezman@rjquillin I thought you didn’t have to treat it. They age it for you, as per your specifications, then cut them the way you want them and send off ready to go. At least that’s what I thought it was. Strongly considering the 109…
@jmdavidson1@klezman@rjquillin EMH is very tempting but with $50 shipping it really incentivizes a case purchase. Too bad there aren’t many Casemates on the east coast to share!
I don’t see Saunter. Maybe it still hasn’t dropped?
@jmdavidson1@klezman@rjquillin I see these wines for sale on the saunter website but nothing on BD. Mostly swagger and red head vineyard. Is that what you’re seeing or am I missing something?
@hscottk@klezman@rjquillin I expected them to be on BD so i took a chance and went to their site. In years past theyve only offered a limited stock and I’ve missed some of the offers. If you can gulp down the cost of the freight, they have some very good wines. Check CT b4 you make a decision.
I’m trying to remember where/why I bought RePour some years ago. I feel like people here were talking about them related to their Kickstarter, or something like that? Because part of me thinks I bought them from CaseMates, or W.Woot, and I associate them with conversations here.
I was looking at their BD offer, and discovered I still have a dozen of them, from whenever that was. I did use a couple/few over the years. No opinion on how well they work.
@jmdavidson1@ScottW58 It’s all pretty damned good. The 4 rib rack is a fave, and the back ribs. There is some similarity in some of the cuts, I like the Secreto, Presa (Denver), I have a Skirt on deck here soon. It’s not on BD but they have a new hanger they are offering.
@jmdavidson1@kaolis@ScottW58 Doesn’t seem like there’s a deal on Campo Grande, though. One of these days I’ll go in on a box with their newbie discount. Or if they ever have a sale I trust y’all to let us know!
@jmdavidson1@klezman@ScottW58 Yeah I didn’t really see a discount over Campo Grande site, and I generally can come up with a free ship coupon on small orders ($150 min) or a discount coupon. Their shipping is reasonable and right now IBERICO20 will get you $20 off your order
Just the Matthiasson cab offer from the MC deal for me and they added a few older bottles from their Dead Fred vineyard I asked them for. My friend opened one for us when we were in Iowa last year and it was the best thing we found in Iowa oh and bought some salty and hot dicks!
@ScottW58 Holding out on ordering hot dicks, bride may prefer it salty…but not too worried on missing out on the BD deal… BD for an 8 pack is $22.72, regular price on their website $23.92
My original post is buried somewhere up above – I’m still looking for a NYC-area local interested in a 4-pack of the Our Wines/Franny Beck PN vertical.
Done for the day. My find was Vinous Reverie - amazing selection, most 25% off, but full pop for shipping. Now I just need to find places to put it all.
My slowest BD ever. Not many offers that grabbed my attention. Anyone else feel the same? I ended up with
Patricia Green case of rose
Sandar & Hem PN six pack
@losthighwayz
Agreed. My purchases were significantly down this year. Bought just a few of mostly small quantities/sampler packs. Will likely grab some MR and Flannery for the freezer before it’s all said and done.
@chefjess At first I thought there were few good deals, but as I looked at a few of the offers from wineries that I had wanted to try and/or knew well, I found there were some hidden gems. I ended up with 2 cases plus a 3-pack of blueberry wine. Not bad and not too too much.
I got 6 pack of syrah from Lagier Meredith, 6 pack of reds from Stars & Dust and 3 pack of Alicante Bouschet from Deaver.
Anyone tasted the wines from the Chiron/Black Powder/Brevity winemaker?
@ctmariner I was about to get the Meredith Syrah but the CT notes changed my mind. I prefer cool climate, bright syrahs and this vintage seems to be on the richer side of the Syrah spectrum. May still jump in on the Stars and Dust mixed reds case. I’m pretty sure Nikki is calling it quits. I was a WC member last couple of years and she mentioned it
@ctmariner@losthighwayz All I can say about the L-M Syrah is that I picked up some 2008 a little while back and was blown away by how good it was. I’m hoping for the same from this vintage.
Which wines are you most excited about?
Which offers are too good to pass up?
If the deal is good, i’ll probably get a Durand. Anticipated patent expiry is next year, so if i don’t i’ll just wait to legally buy a copy.
I appreciate the work that goes in to patenting items, but sheesh they’re pricy.
@radiolysis Ah, the Durand. I didn’t realize they were going out of patent next year. I can see it now, the Durand opener by Oxo.
Ha! Can’t hardly wait. With the rubber “Easy-grip handle”
@InFrom Harvest Moon crossover product – the Du-Randy Opener
@InFrom @radiolysis The Chinese knock-off version I got last year for $40 has been good. It’s not as nice as the original but it gets the job done for 1/3 the price. I got from Ali Express.
@radiolysis lol
@InFrom @klezman @radiolysis I’ve been having a lot of success with AliExpress on motorcycle accessories.
@InFrom @klezman @radiolysis
Got the same one and it has worked well the half dozen or so times I have used it.
@chipgreen @klezman @radiolysis Just noticed this in the BD Newbies thread:
Ooh, a WB-branded leather sheath for your Durand! Who can resist?
@chipgreen @InFrom @klezman @Ophelia @radiolysis
Lol so you can turn your $140 Durand into a $180 Durand with a sheath
@chipgreen @klezman @Ophelia @radiolysis @ScottW58 Be the first kid on your block!
@rjquillin and I are going to split the Berserker-chosen Sandeler Pinot. Great wines at a great price.
Otherwise we have no idea what’s coming for another 12 hours!
Had this last night they make great cabs! Imo
Oh snap, I just looked at the preview list and don’t see Suzor. I’ve been buying PN from them the last few years.
Now I’m thinking that the early-purchase list is getting updates – now I see Suzor.
I just picked up a case of that Franny Beck/Our Wines vertical. We really liked the '17-'19, haven’t had the '20 yet. Sorry they’re winding down.
If anyone around NYC/Queens is interested in a vertical 4-pack, lmk.
@InFrom I jumped on that one too; A deal too good to pass up.
@InFrom any thoughts on the relative merits of the 4 vintages? I’m thinking of getting that and calling it a day.
@InFrom @klezman I found the 2017 and 2019 to be my preference. The second and third cases I bought only had those.
@DanOR @InFrom how would you describe your preferences? I think I only want to get 2 vintages. I prefer a bit more of a savoury and earthy element.
@DanOR @InFrom @klezman I found these as ‘simpler’ than the other Franny Beck svd wines; with a bit of bottle variation from the mixed case from last year. Still very nice, elegant, but Oregon for sure.
@DanOR I’m glad you replied, because I’m afraid my notes wouldn’t have offered much guidance to @klezman. In a nutshell, I liked all three vintages I tried, with the '19 my favorite.

I see Veleta is offering Campo Grande pork stuff. Thinking about the meal pics I’ve seen people post here makes that very tempting.
And, she’s selling a Durand. It’s like people are listening in on us!
Does anyone know what the “end time” is for early purchase offers today?
Nothing is really leaping out at me though I am at work and only reviewing on my phone (and rapidly developing a headache.
). Will be easier to poke around at home tonight.
@karenhynes
I believe it’s 20:00 pacific
@rjquillin Thanks!

There’s no getting around the fact that I have too much wine. The plan is to get some Flannery hangers and call it a day. We’ll see how that works out.
@hscottk hangers aren’t on the BD sale. Katie said in March.
We decided to spring for the custom rib primal though. This should be fun!
@hscottk @klezman You did a primal? Nice!!
@hscottk @kaolis Don’t often get a chance to get a 107 rib! Not to mention that the pricing for the 109 (which is the standard cut) is only marginally more than what I paid at Costco last time around. And this comes with all the rest of the labour.
@hscottk @kaolis @klezman
Looking at that offer as well, but actually not sure I’d know how to properly treat it
@kaolis @klezman @rjquillin I thought you didn’t have to treat it. They age it for you, as per your specifications, then cut them the way you want them and send off ready to go. At least that’s what I thought it was. Strongly considering the 109…
@hscottk @kaolis @rjquillin Yes, that’s right. Bryan has already reached out to schedule a call to discuss the options and plan.
EMH Black Cat has various vintages of C S, 4 for $160. Nice wines. Grayscale is under the radar for their cab.
@jmdavidson1 so tempting
@klezman Saunter wines are discounted and very good.
@jmdavidson1 I didn’t even see their offer yesterday. Agreed they’re quite good.
@klezman Not offered yesterday. Theyre up today, i think.
@jmdavidson1 @klezman
ouch!
Never had any, now I have a full vertical on the way;
@klezman @rjquillin I don’t think youll be disappointed.
@jmdavidson1 @klezman
Saunter is still offering? Anything good left? Fortunately I have enough left in the cellar to last me the rest of my life
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @rjquillin EMH is very tempting but with $50 shipping it really incentivizes a case purchase. Too bad there aren’t many Casemates on the east coast to share!
I don’t see Saunter. Maybe it still hasn’t dropped?
@hscottk @klezman @rjquillin Agreed. I bit on the case so it’s $4 a bottle.
@hscottk @klezman @rjquillin I’m paying $84 for shipping a case from Saunter. Ouch!!!
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @rjquillin I see these wines for sale on the saunter website but nothing on BD. Mostly swagger and red head vineyard. Is that what you’re seeing or am I missing something?
@hscottk @klezman @rjquillin I expected them to be on BD so i took a chance and went to their site. In years past theyve only offered a limited stock and I’ve missed some of the offers. If you can gulp down the cost of the freight, they have some very good wines. Check CT b4 you make a decision.
@jmdavidson1 Just saw your comment below about website only. That’s why I couldn’t find it! Thanks.
@InFrom There have been a number of mentions (generally positive) of the RePour in these forums in the past.
@Mark_L Oh, a search, thank you!
@InFrom @Mark_L
I’ve used these, in addition to Ar, and they seem to work as advertised.
Veleta has campo grande. What would you connoisseurs recommend?
@jmdavidson1 @ScottW58 It’s all pretty damned good. The 4 rib rack is a fave, and the back ribs. There is some similarity in some of the cuts, I like the Secreto, Presa (Denver), I have a Skirt on deck here soon. It’s not on BD but they have a new hanger they are offering.

@kaolis @klezman @ScottW58 Thanks. I have no idea what to get and what is an affordable price.
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @ScottW58 Yeah I didn’t really see a discount over Campo Grande site, and I generally can come up with a free ship coupon on small orders ($150 min) or a discount coupon. Their shipping is reasonable and right now IBERICO20 will get you $20 off your order
@kaolis @klezman @ScottW58 I don’t know what arrangement Veleeta has worked out for her BD offer.
So far just olive oil and saffron from Nola and some Stars & Dust Chardonnay
Just the Matthiasson cab offer from the MC deal for me and they added a few older bottles from their Dead Fred vineyard I asked them for. My friend opened one for us when we were in Iowa last year and it was the best thing we found in Iowa
oh and bought some salty and hot dicks!
@ScottW58 Been looking at hot dicks, haven’t ordered yet but bride thought a good idea
@kaolis I bet
@ScottW58 No saunter? Deal is on their website. No listing on BD.
@jmdavidson1
Is there a Saunter promo code that you know of?
@jmdavidson1 @kawichris650
Everything is already marked down when I looked.
@ScottW58
I did a quick test run and the shipping was as much as the wine.
@ScottW58 Holding out on ordering hot dicks, bride may prefer it salty…but not too worried on missing out on the BD deal… BD for an 8 pack is $22.72, regular price on their website $23.92
@kawichris650
Shipping happens
@kaolis
Hey when dealing with dicks your wife knows best!
@kawichris650 @ScottW58 So, order more wine that the cost of shipping.
@jmdavidson1 @kawichris650 @ScottW58 They don’t charge shipping… hey $25 for basically 2 bags of chips they better not!
My original post is buried somewhere up above – I’m still looking for a NYC-area local interested in a 4-pack of the Our Wines/Franny Beck PN vertical.
@InFrom
gotcha covered
Done for the day. My find was Vinous Reverie - amazing selection, most 25% off, but full pop for shipping. Now I just need to find places to put it all.
@davirom
Good call! He does weekly deals in the commerce corner at 10% 25 is nice and he has some good and different stuff!
My slowest BD ever. Not many offers that grabbed my attention. Anyone else feel the same? I ended up with
Patricia Green case of rose
Sandar & Hem PN six pack
Missed out on Sabelli mixed reds
My cc (and wife) are happy though lol
First time in years I didn’t even look at the offers.
@losthighwayz
Agreed. My purchases were significantly down this year. Bought just a few of mostly small quantities/sampler packs. Will likely grab some MR and Flannery for the freezer before it’s all said and done.

I got 6 pack of syrah from Lagier Meredith, 6 pack of reds from Stars & Dust and 3 pack of Alicante Bouschet from Deaver.
Anyone tasted the wines from the Chiron/Black Powder/Brevity winemaker?
@ctmariner Not yet, but I picked up some heavily discounted Chiron from K&L a few weeks back.
