I still haven’t forgotten that first bite of a spiced ground something meat in a stab your gums crisp shell from Taco Bell when I arrived in CA, and wondered how these were supposed to be enjoyably consumed…
@klezman@rjquillin I was thinking the same. There are so many fine tacos to be had. If you’re still having bad Taco Bell flashbacks after all this time, it just means you need to double down on the real thing.

Well, as a mid-westerner by birth, that fired a synapse; White Castle burgers, now aka sliders, but not then.
Bought them by the bag (10) for 12¢ each, and later 15¢ when they added the cheese option.
Phew…

I love White Castle burgers. My dad used to work some overnight shifts (11-7) and would sometimes stop for them on his way home. He’d wave them under our noses to wake us up and we’d have them for breakfast (dinner to him). Ah, the good old days!
@FritzCat@InFrom@klezman@rjquillin I wasn’t crazy about sliders until someone offered me a Jalapeño Cheese Slider – that was tasty! Full disclosure: I grew up in Daytona Beach where Krystal had the equivalent of sliders, and consumed many in my younger days.
@FritzCat@InFrom@klezman@Mark_L@rjquillin Still say the taco meat at Taco Bell was great until they changed the receipe somewhere in 1996-1998, and it’s only gone downhill. Yes, my taste memory is that intact.
@bunnymasseuse@rjquillin My first Taco was from Jack-In-the-’Box’, as in drive through / walk up, only thing around back then. A Taco-Bell opened a walk-up only, great Tacos 4 for a $1.00, got to sit around the fire pit too……what an improvement, to a young kid on his bike!!
Note: PepsiCo Foods sold them in 1997, all down hill from there, just got the memories left now………
FYI: Born and raised in Imperial Beach CA, so I love all kinds of tacos…
Hamburger meat
All of the above!
@karenhynes I don’t think I’ve met a taco I didn’t like.
@karenhynes @radiolysis “met” or “eat”?
(I’m of British decent, sounds better when I read aloud. It actually kinda rhymes for me…. But now that it’s written)

@rjquillin I guess nobody warned you about Taco Bell! You’ve learned since then, I hope!

@rjquillin I remember when Taco Bell had like 5 items and they were 19 cents each. Still love it.
