We’re heading to Boston in September, so I’m looking for suggestions on things to do or see. It was suggested that we stay in the Boston Commons area. Thanks for the assists.
The most important tip is to bring comfortable walking shoes! We usually stay near Fanueil Hall (aka Quincy Market). Only 1/2 mile from Boston Commons, but closer to the harbor. The Cheers replica bar can be found there. The original Cheers is located on Beacon St., a couple miles away.
Legal Seafoods and McCormick & Schmick’s are both high end seafood restaurants. Legal is more famous, but we prefer M&S. The Green Dragon Tavern is located near the North End Market. Although not in its original location, the Green Dragon is where Paul Revere & co. got together to plan the American Revolution. The Freedom Trail is also nearby. You can visit Paul Revere’s house and the Old North Church, where Revere climbed the steeple and held up the “Two if by Sea” lanterns.
On the other side of the North End market, you will find Little Italy. We strolled up and down for over an hour looking at menus in windows before being waved into a restaurant by the proprieter, to come in for a window seat. There is also a vibrant Chinatown nearby.
The New England Aquarium is right next to the harbor and you can take a nice little pleasure cruise. You will find the Swan Boats at Boston Commons. You can also ride in a Duck Boat.

So much to do, see, eat, drink and experience!
@chipgreen Thanks for thr info.
And don’t forget to take in Harvard and MIT campuses. They’re pretty nice.
Regina pizzeria and Mikes pastry in the north end will not disappoint.
