Introducing our inaugural release of Sauvignon Blanc from the renowned Monterey County, the embodiment of our commitment to crafting exceptional wines that capture the essence of this unique terroir.
Our Monterey County Sauvignon Blanc tantalizes the senses with its captivating array of aromas and flavors. On the nose, discover a bouquet of zesty citrus, including vibrant notes of freshly squeezed lemon and juicy grapefruit, mingling with delicate hints of green apple and fragrant white blossoms. The palate is a harmonious dance of lively acidity and luscious fruitiness. Crisp flavors of lime zest and tart pineapple invigorate the taste buds while a subtle undercurrent of ripe melon adds a touch of sweetness and depth. As the wine unfolds, layers of minerality provide an elegant structure, complemented by a refreshing herbal undertone reminiscent of freshly cut grass. Balancing vibrant freshness with a satisfying weight, our Monterey County Sauvignon Blanc culminates in a lingering finish, leaving an invigorating impression of revitalizing citrus and a subtle, mouthwatering salinity. This wine is a true testament to the unique terroir of Monterey County.
Monterey County
Nestled within the picturesque landscape of Monterey County, the ideal grape growing conditions for Sauvignon Blanc thrive in a harmonious convergence of cool coastal influences and sun-kissed vineyard sites. The region’s maritime climate, characterized by brisk ocean breezes and foggy mornings, imparts a distinctive crispness and vibrant acidity to the grapes, while the sun-drenched afternoons allow for gradual ripening, resulting in expressive aromatics and a balanced flavor profile. This exquisite interplay of climate and terroir shapes each cluster, culminating in a Sauvignon Blanc that exemplifies the unique essence of Monterey County.
Food Pairing
The bright and vibrant characteristics of our Sauvignon Blanc make it an exceptional companion to a variety of dishes such as grilled shrimp, creamy goat cheese and tangy feta salads, sashimi, ceviche, and oysters.

12x 2022 Brick Barn Sauvignon Blanc, Monterey County
At Brick Barn Wine Estate we make the wines we love and grow the grapes that inspire us!
For more than 50 years, we have overseen and worked this land. Today, we fulfill its destiny as a premium wine estate at the westernmost frontier of the Santa Ynez Valley AVA.
Brick Barn Wine Estate founder, Norman Williams, originally purchased this land from the Buell family in 1968. Shortly thereafter, the property became home to an Arabian horse farm, replete with a 36-stall brick barn created by an Italian stonemason in the early 1970s.
Norman and his wife Kathleen were drawn to the idea of growing grapes—and ultimately making wine. They saw immense promise in their land, and they knew that its distinct location could create exceptional wines. In 2012, they planted 35 acres. The specific varieties were chosen for their synergy with the estate’s unique growing conditions, and because both Norman and Kathleen were passionate about them.
The original brick barn has now been reimagined as a winery and gathering place, while other portions of the ranch continue to be dedicated to organic vegetable farming and cattle ranching.

2022 Brick Barn Sauvignon Blanc $50 = 24.99%
I was delighted to taste this sauvignon blanc from Brick Barn, a vineyard established relatively recently, as well as to receive the Casemates glass, will get lots of future use, to pour the wine into it.
I tasted the wine over two dinners and, finally, with friends at a cocktail party. It’s quite light–“light and bright,” as one friend stated–and very dry with high acidity, but the flavor develops as it sits on the tongue. We detected a hint of pear and tart, crisp apple, such as the Granny Smith variety. As such, it was a terrific accompaniment to the smoked salmon salad on the first night and to scallops in a lime-coconut sauce the next night, as it cut right through the richness of each dish. With hors d’ouerves, it proved an excellent accompaniment to a mushroom and walnut pate, as well as to spanakopita.
We all agreed it’s a very refreshing wine for a hot summer’s evening, and we’d happily pour it again (except this offering sadly does not extend to NH). Someday, I hope to try the vineyard’s albarino and vermentino, two favorite white grapes of mine.
Labrat checking in!
It is always such a pleasure to get an email from Alice saying that wine is on the way!
It was definitely nice to have almost a full week before the offer to figure out a good time to taste the wine with appropriate food pairings. As this was a white, sauv blanc, it was put in the fridge to chill for a day or two later.
The wine is a very, very pale straw color.
On pop and pour, it was still a bit too chilly, not much on the nose… maybe some astringency… led me to check the alcohol, which at 13.4% was a bit higher than I expected, but not a huge number. Taste was very crisp and a bit of grapefruit. Not as much as some NZ SBs, but lighter.
After 10 mins in the glass to warm a bit, the nose showed some white stone fruits - maybe apricot or white peach, along with some bitters - like an orange zest. Still quite crisp with a longer finish. Probably better with food, but not unpleasant in any way.
We recently acquired backyard chickens for the eggs, and I decided that using some of them for a light dinner would be a good pairing… eventually I settled on an egg casserole made with “fake steak”, potatoes, ricotta, and mixture of nutty cheeses and fresh herbs.
Ah, now we’re talking. The wine was a great accompaniment to the food (or vice versa?)! The bitters on the palate and acidity balanced by the light fattiness of the egg dish. Both food and wine befitted by the interplay and flavors became more nuanced… the wine showing some green apple and lemongrass.
From Michelle: Wine. Crisp. Gold white color. Grapefruit taste? I’m not getting anything in smell on initial open. As it opens, maybe a bit of gasoline on the nose? Goes really nicely with dinner. Maybe some apple on the palate. Better a bit warmer. Overall, I think I like it. Which. I typically don’t prefer sauv blanc. I would drink this again. Should we buy some?
From the 13 year old: it goes well with the food. Lighter flavor. I like it. The dinner needs the wine. It’s a refreshing wine.
Definitely a nice summer wine that at least in my house, benefits from food. I expected the price range to be 12-15/bottle, which is right on this offer. QPR is right on.
@sammypedram the 13 year old only got a sip or 2. But she sometimes gets a 2-3 oz glass with dinner, maybe once a month or so. The wife got a full glass.
@jasisk@sammypedram My parents were from Europe and this was not uncommon for me either. More so once I got to be 16 or 18 in which case it might have been more than 2-3 oz.
