Hi All! Here's the link to the 2018 Icewine Festive Website: Icewine Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. The majority of those who are interested/able to come voted for the weekend of January 12-14/15. Discovery Passes are $45 Canadian this year. We buy them at the first winery we go to on Sat. morning.
Here is a link to the wineries and their offerings: Icewine Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada
We can showcase Buffalo foods on Friday, January 12th, if people are able to arrive at a decent hour. Or, we could order local pizza and wings and then, have one of ddeuddeg's cheesecakes and do an Icewine warmup at our house. Icewining on Saturday followed by Bubbly and Sushi for dinner on Saturday evening and whatever on Sunday. We have plenty of new breweries and distilleries that are making their presences felt in Buffalo. We could check out some of them on Sunday or go play in the snow--wanna try out Ice Biking on the former site of the Erie Canal? Then, travel home/recoup on Monday or whatever works for you!
Possible lodging options:
Staybridge Suites on Slade Ave in West Seneca
is about 2.2 miles from our house.
The Hampton Inn Buffalo Southseems to have some decent rates, too. It's just down the block from The Staybridge Suites.
The Comfort Inn Hotel on Dingens Streetseems to have some decent rates, too. PolarBear has stayed here. Nothing fancy, but not too far away.
The Best Western Plus Inn of Lackawanna
is a little farther, by about 2 minutes (in the opposite direction). PolarBear, justplainjulie and wkdpanda have stayed here. So have we. It is a good place and close by.

Buffalo/WNY CASEMATES Gathering #1 (w.w. #15) Ice Wine Festival 2018
2Hi, Guys & Gals! We are always looking for more people to join us in Buffalo, NY and in Niagara-on-the-Lake for the Ice Wine Festival. This year we will be doing a “Taste of Buffalo” on Fri, Jan 12, 2018; Ice Wine Tasting and Bubbly and Sushi on Sat, Jan 13. We usually gather for brunch on Sunday and who knows what else. There are plenty of breweries and distilleries in Buffalo these days for a change of pace.

Wish I could. I love those Niagra ice wines.
@arielleslie Where are you now? Are you in WNY?
The first post from the thread looks rather wonky above, so click on the permalink in the upper righthand corner of the copied post and it will take you to that thread with specific details. (I’m still trying to figure out how this site works!)
@bahwm It looks like all of the forum formatting doesn’t translate well. @shawn may have more insight into that.
@Thumperchick well, we got most of it pulled over. I’ll look into the remaining bit.
@bahwm got that fixed up.
@shawn Nice job! Thank you!
If you’re coming, try to make sure you have a credit card with no fees for international currency transactions. It’s the best way to get the most from your US$.
Oh, I wish I could do this. Originally from Rochester, now outside of Boston, went to the Ice Wine Festival for my honeymoon nearly 11 years ago.
@shellzy You will be missed, But, there’s always next year! Stay tuned!
We’re in!
@chipgreen Updates made!
Maybe next year for us…
We are still contemplating how to make it work, if at all. Gotta sort that stuff out!
Just not in the cards this year. @bawhm, congrats on the Casemates gathering #1! You guys get to set the precedence going forward.
Ditto on the not-in-the-cards-this-year. With any luck next year will be doable…and maybe even via a carpool with @WkdPanda since we expect to be hopefully be in decent proximity by the middle of this year.
@HitAnyKey42 Oh? You guys have some plans to move?? Do tell!
@klezman We are 99% moving to VA (likely west/southwest of DC) by June. Exact location largely determined by where I can find a job…so if anyone in that region knows of anyone looking for a quality employee, let me know! I’m looking to change career-path too, so looking to do almost anything new.
