Confused…this is now a “broadcast” but I posted this in the Deals thread and karen posted in the Cyberpub before this.
But I guess there’s no such thing as too many times to be told there’s something to go look at!
Anyone else having issues trying to buy this over at meh? I keep getting the “something went terribly wrong” video. Glasses for free when you buy coupons is a deal to me, if I could buy it.
@communist Appreciate the tip. I was successful using my phone to order, but no clue why I can’t sign in to meh. I have never had an issue with Casemates.
If you buy these, you can use the coupon code MEHSENTME starting next week on Casemates. Use it on your first Casemates purchase for the first $8 coupon, and again on your next purchase for your second $8 coupon.
What’s the was cheapest thing ever sold on casemates?
Trying to decide how low it needs to be to use the coupon. I’d like the $8 it to equate to at least 50% off if possible.
@InFrom@medz I suppose you could buy a case at 16/bottle, use the coupon, mate out 11 of the bottles? Then you have one bottle half off? Seems a lot of work …
@medz On the discussion page for the wine, you ask whether there are some locals interested in taking part of the case off your hands. Once you have the requisite number, you buy the case (don’t forget that coupon), meet up with the others, and exchange your wine for their money.
@InFrom so they expect me to be the distributor? What is this a multi level marketing operation? I get 5 people to buy wine from me and they each get 5 people to buy from them so I can somehow save money? I don’t want to front the payment. Wasn’t this site supposed to have the mating part built-in to the functionality?
Edit: from the Kickstarter:
“On Casemates, you’ll find fresh wine deals three times a week (on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), and we’ll be building tools to let you share by-the-case orders with other users near you for better deals than ever. Split an order with friends you never knew you had — and share the savings you get from shipping a whole case.”
@medz Not sure about what was supposed to be. That aspect of the functionality has never been implemented, that much I do know. I remember it being discussed, can’t remember whether it was promised.
What we do have is groups of locals teaming up to split a case, since the case price per bottle is better than the price for bottles in smaller packs.
Edit: I just saw your edit. The tools, I think, turn out to be Whispers so you can share your contact info privately. That does facilitate sharing of orders.
I don’t know that the language you bolded promises the ability to have multiple people submit fractional orders for a single case.
@InFrom from the Kickstarter verbiage, I pictured the ability to specify a # of bottles you wanted and a mile radius from your location. The site would find potential matches and allow you to decide whether to purchase or not.
Ex: I’m willing to buy up to 2 bottles and split it within 50 mile radius. Site: Good news! 2 other users in your designation area have expressed an inerest in buying up to 8 bottles. Calculating most efficient recipient for all users… Shipment will be sent to user________ to be split. If this person doesn’t give you your wine, they’ll be banned and charged the full amount.
@InFrom@medz Yeah, sure…that’d be cool. But that’s not what’s going on at the moment.
You can also search for a thread discussing people in a certain location and pop in there to see if people are willing to share. And if there isn’t a thread about your location, then start one!
@InFrom@klezman nah. I don’t trust randos on the interwebs unless they’ve been vetted by a site I trust. Casemates needs a green check mark next to the usernames of verified non-creepers.

It is difficult to go wrong with free stuff, essentially.
“Basically, how it works is this: a new wine is offered every day.” Ruh roh.
@JOATMON

@medz All I am doing is quoting the Meh offer. Seventh paragraph.
@JOATMON right. Which is false. Everyday my ass.

/image false
@medz Either it is false, or what really worries me is that it is true going forward, and this is the first announcement.
@JOATMON I see. I hope for your sake that’s not the case.
@JOATMON @medz

@JOATMON @medz 8+ offers a week, here we come!
@JOATMON @medz @ThomasF
Oh good Lord, no.

Right, there was that recent survey as well…

@KCountry Just worked fine for me.
@KCountry Maybe Meh doesn’t deliver to your state?
@sammydog01 B/c they didn’t get a license to sell mediocrities?
@sammydog01 Sadly that isn’t it, my state is lit up pretty well.
Well no idea why I’m having an issue on the computer, I was able to do it via my phone.

I don’t need more glasses. But for the all-in price, why the heck not?
@Thumperchick The coupon code is not working for me today. I bought the glasses yesterday, what gives?
@jhkey
@Thumperchick OK, next week. Thanks!
Meh Coupon is now working for me. That’s if… I press the button.
@TechnoViking looks like it would work for me today if I wanted it to.

My reply is no
/8ball Will there be a $16 item here?
@medz Sounds about right.

@radiolysis But think of the savings!
@radiolysis ok. Do I enter the usernames of the mates at checkout, or…
