Sourced from the southeast corner of Washington State, our Walla Walla Valley Red Wine Blend boasts generous aromas of blueberries, violets, plum, and milk chocolate. Ripe and juicy notes of blackberry, dark cherry, cassis, and toasted oak are balanced with smooth tannins and bright acidity. This full-bodied and structured wine leads to a sustaining finish full of flavor.
Winemaker Notes
The 2018 growing season weathered a hot, dry summer, but timely rains and cooler temperatures in early fall provided a welcome balance prior to harvest. These conditions allowed for grapes to ripen slowly and develop mature flavors. After the grapes were harvested, sorted, and fermented, the wine was then aged primarily in French oak barrels for 18 months, with a small amount being aged in American oak. The blend consists of a number of reds, including Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Tempranillo, Malbec, and Petite Sirah round out the blend to add complex flavors and structure.
Food Pairings
Pair with rich flavors such as young blue cheeses, oven-roasted vegetables, and wild mushroom ravioli. The firm structure lends itself well to a variety of meat dishes, including lamb sliders, barbecued steak, or slow-roasted stews.

Cedar + Salmon Red Wine Blend 2018.
Look:
The look of the bottle, frankly, kinda sucks. The label is pealing off in several places. It arrived this way.
The cork isn’t great, with some crystallization on it. But I’ve seen this’a plenty on Wellingtons that were great…
So let’s dive into some adult grape juice. hand friction gesture
Deep garnet with ruby and violet highlights.
Clear.
Slow, thick legs. Difficult for me to photo well. (and I always forget the correct file format to use here)
Nose:
Blackberry, black cherry, plum, currant.
Some all spice, clove, cedar, and vanilla bean.
A bit more savory than jammy.
Taste:
3 sips, then I judge.
Alcohol right off the bat. Boldy and Juicy.
Dark fruit, Charred Oaks, and all spice giving it complexity.
Bright acid. Tanins are firm but smooth. Grip without harshness.
Full body and structure. Worth decanting or at the very least leaving the bottle open for 30 min.
Final Thoughts:
Ready to drink now or cellar a few years. Decanting 45 minutes opened up the aromatics more than it softened the tanins. It’s worth it and pays off. Especially because of the alcohol I mentioned earlier.
I had my reservations with the labelling and cork. But this is a modern, full-bodied Bordeaux-styled red blend with Petit Verdot at the forefront with real structure but polished edges. It balances deep ripe fruit with spice and acidity, making it both crowd-pleasing and food-friendly.

2018 Cedar + Salmon Red Blend - $30 = 16.66%
Looks right up my alley and would normally be a case purchase, I really like Walla Walla valley wines. Due to timing issues and unexpected emergency vet expenses— I’m gonna pass this time, but hope to see it come back sometime. Have a Happy New Year.
@dianefreda I have not had experience with this one. As someone noted, Walla-Walla appellations have been rare, owing to a hard freeze in early 2000s, but are coming back.
I would expect this to be a bit different owing to majority PV amount. However the concept seems to back up the cedar+salmon concept. Salmon cooked on a cedar plank is common here. (Real salmon, sockeye or king, from Alaska or from the rivers here, not that farmed Atlantic crap)
