So excited to receive this wine today via UPS this afternoon. Instantly changed our dinner plans, ordering up our favorite pie from our local, handmade pizza stop. Upon opening the wine and taking a quick taste, I noticed something was a little off (based on what I was expecting) and the bottle looked a little different. Throwing open the iPad, I brought up the image and noted a few differences…1) there is a thick black line at the bottom of the label “blacking out some information” 2) ABV on the bottle in the picture via Casemates indicates 12.5% (one of the reasons I was interested), description indicates 13.5%, actual is 14% per the label on the bottle.
Most shocking is that the online blend description via Casemates as well as the links others provided show: 65% Merlot, 24% Cabernet, 11% Petit Verdot.
Actual blend per the bottle is: 65% Cabernet, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
Not a bad wine, but definitely not what I was expecting. Nose is nice, but the wine is drinking very young (hot and tannic) and needs a lot more time in the bottle in my opinion.
