Condolences to Sterling & Iron Horse Families
7FYI, Barry Sterling, father of Joy, and co-founder of Iron Horse passed away this weekend in his sleep. Condolences to the Sterling and Iron Horse families.
He and his lovely wife welcomed us into their home on many RPM Historical Tours, and were always gracious to us.

My condolences on his passing - the trip to Iron Horse was a highlight of the RPM tour I attended.
My thoughts go out to his family and loved ones. I’m sure he will be missed by many.
That is very sad but thank you for letting us know. My wife and I will always cherish the memories from our two trips to Iron Horse on the 2012 and 2014 RPM tours. As you said, they graciously welcomed us into their home and even dined with us on the patio.
Looking at the Obituary, I see that Mr. Sterling was born exactly 1 year and 1 day after my own father, who has been gone for almost 10 years now.
@chipgreen I am also very sad. My dad died over 21 years ago and I still miss him. It gets easier but never okay.
i recall visiting the Sterling home at the RPM tour and walking through their house on the way to the nicest garden i’ve every seen. In the house was amazing original art and i distinctly remember a picture of his family with JFK (may have been Robert).
a life well lived indeed.
my condolences to the Sterling family. and to those who lost their fathers.
If i wouldn’t know better, i’d say he had a hand in tonight’s offer.
I never made it there for the rpm tour experience, but my visit there almost 4 years ago was one of the true highlights of a trip full of wonderful tastings. Sincere condolences to the family and Cheers to a life well-lived.
A wonderful evening of almost getting engaged there was had on the 2014 tour. It was a great evening and we got to sit with Barry and enjoy his stories. He’ll be missed by many.
