A fruit-forward and savory wine that makes a statement from the first sip. Rich dark fruit is focused on the palate leading into a dynamic finish thatâs not soon forgotten.
Lodi experiences a Mediterranean climate. Warm, sunny days allow for optimal ripening of wine grapes. Cool winds off the Pacific Ocean act as a natural air conditioner. Winegrapes maintain racy acidity.
Letâs snap out of it. Wine doesnât always need to be taken so seriously. Taste leads the way, not the price tag on the bottle.
At The Cult Wine Co., we believe enjoying wine should be fun. For us, wine is for loud potluck style dinners, endless catch-up conversations, poured for those long rambling toasts, with glasses that donât need stems, all to make every occasion a celebration.
From our seasoned wine family rooted in Napa Valley, The Cult Wine Co. started as a pursuit to prove that great wines can be crafted outside the limits of the valley. Napa Valley produces powerful fruit, but itâs not the only place that grows quality wine grapes. Californiaâs Lodi region also benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool evenings that develops rich flavors in the wine grapes.
With The Cult Wine Co., all you need to know is what you like. This bold honesty is captivating and suddenly you want to be surrounded by those that see the world of wine as we do. Do you see what we see?

Always happy to see a kind e-mail from Alice with todayâs offer, 2020 Cult Cabernet Sauvignon. Lodi, which is the source AVA, is a popular Cabernet and Zinfandel growing region. Iâve visited the area a numerous times, living not far away in the East Bay (of San Francisco). Lodi produces solid wines at good value, and Cult Cabernet Sauvignon continues this reputation.
Upon initial Pop n Pour, I notice a whiff of oak and observe deep ruby color. I tend to prefer my Cabs with age (a throwback to @rpm and his plea to age Cabs a minimum of 10 years!) but a las, lab rat duty calls. I taste blackberry and a strong earthy like tobacco flavor, but want to give this bottle more time to open up.
About an hour into the bottle being open, the oak nose has worn off and I get red berries, or even candied cherries as flavor profiles, with mild acidity and tannins beginning to sharpen.
I expect this to be priced $15-$20 per bottle, with perhaps an even steeper discount ($13-$15) for case purchasers. This will pair delightfully with holiday meats, cheeses, and even your Halloween Chocolate! This will please most in a crowd. Thank you Alice and @winedavid49 for the opportunity!

2020 CULT Cabernet Sauvignon - $40 = 24.23%
2020 Cult Cabernet Sauvignon: Always happy when a âratâ bottle arrives at our door. On pop-n-pour we noted nice deep color, dark fruit aroma, a little musty, and prominent acidity. It was very fruit forward. Our son really enjoyed the fruitiness. After breathing for 1 hour we paired this wine with delmonico steak, baked potato, and creamed spinach. The acidity worked well with the steak. The fruit mellowed and dark berries and plum notes were discernible. Husband noted plum/prune/raisin and just a hint of strawberry. The tannins were muted. It improved with breathing. Saved a few sips for 24 hours in the bottle. Fruitiness mellowed further (to the disappointment of our son) and it became a bit more complex. This is a fruit forward crowd pleaser. We would be happy getting a glass of this at most (non-wine centric) parties. But, we wouldnât want to serve it to our big cab wine enthusiast (aka wine snob) crowd. At this price point, this could be a good choice for upcoming holiday entertaining or an everyday drinker. We certainly suggest letting it breathe before pouring. Thank you once again for another chance to be a lab rat.

Enthusiast had this to say 9/1/22:
87 Points. This is a well-made, nicely fruity and lightly spicy wine thatâs medium-bodied and easy to drink. Itâs a good bottle for lunch and casual occasions. â Jim Gordon
And the above mentioned Tasting Panel Magazine comments May/June '22:
90 Points. Aged 15 months in (25% new) French oak, this is bright, zippy, and begging to be let out of the bottle. The expressive aromatics are slightly reminiscent of Fruit Roll-Ups. Brambly fruit leads to good structure, and alert, integrated tannins peek around the edges of the palate.
Thatâs about it, I type slow, machine must be readyâŠ
