De Negoce
0When I last posted on this a while back there didn’t seem to be a lot of interest in buying cases of mystery wine. I hadn’t bought any at that time, but have since purchased a cab (OG 44) and a PN (48). This makes De Negoce the largest single holding in my cellar, and I’ve yet to sample a drop.
Anyone else break down and buy? Better yet, has anyone actually tried any? These should ship in a few weeks, so there will a lot of tasting notes to come!

I’ve bought several offers to split with my future son-in-law that is trying to build a cellar, probably my fault hopefully these will be a good value proposition for both of us. The only one received at this point is OG3 Cab Franc but have not tried. OG6 cab sauv / OG38 Syrah OG41 Cab Sauv shipping in next 30/45 days?
@rc70 OG 44/48 ship on 10/12, but so do half the releases. I’m guessing it will probably happen over a few weeks. I’m definitely excited to try these out.
Hadn’t heard of this before, sounds intriguing! Please post some notes if anyone tries a bottle, but it sounds like excellent QPR.
Bought 4 cases so far - non shipped yet - 25/40 Cabs, 38 Syrah and 48 RRV Pinot Noir. Tempted by others but trying to exercize restraint e.g. for the Andrew Murray offer on here today! There are some heavy buyers on the WineBeserkers forum - they have also set up a CaseSplitter website to connect wine buyers in the same area of the country for sharing cases of wine - a bit like here but more formal.
@ctmariner @winedavid49
A bit more formality and assistance would be most welcome here…
@ctmariner We’ll have to compare notes on the 48. And…a case splitter app? You mean like the app Casemates promised us?
/giphy still waiting
@ctmariner @hscottk
I signed up for it even tho i’m not looking for more daily drinkers really but it’s pretty cool so I might jump on some things that sound good.
@ctmariner @hscottk @winedavid49
Yup, that one.
@ctmariner @hscottk @ScottW58 Link? I don’t want to search through the Berserker forum…
@ctmariner @hscottk @rjquillin @Winedavid49
I waved the white flag on the promised “site tools” long ago. Especially after being chewed out by one of our current labrats for having the audacity to expect such a thing for a mere $120k in seed money to someone @snapster that didn’t need it in the first place but put it on kickstarter just because they could.

They talk about it in this thread.

I haven’t tried it myself so not an endorsement. ScottW, how is it?
@ctmariner @hscottk @klezman
Haven’t actually used it yet, just signed up put in my name and email address and write a little note of what kind of wines you are interested in splitting then use a little slider thingy and set the distance in miles that you’re willing to travel to split. I picked 30 miles and then it shows you the names and email addresses of the people in your zone who have similar wants. It also sent me an email and maybe everyone else letting people know your in. Kind of cool.
@ctmariner @hscottk @klezman @ScottW58
You listening @winedavid49 @dave
LOL just got an email that klez is in my zone and ready to split
@ScottW58
What would you have done if it weren’t for that app?! Haha
I signed up, but it appears I may be the first person to do so here in the Twin Cities.
@kawichris650
Hopefully it’s okay to cross post this? They seem to be tracking everything which is nice.
And now, the latest update on the progress with the Case Splitter web app to connect people wanting to split wine cases. It is exciting to see clusters forming around the US and encouraging to have received so many thank you messages from you.
http://www.casesplitter.com/start-sharing-case
We still have the greatest density of users in the SF Bay Area and in the Greater Boston Area; the SF Bay Area cluster is now more than 2X that of Boston and growing fast.
• SF Bay Area (CA) + Santa Cruz (CA)
• Greater Boston (MA)
We are having medium size clusters forming in:
• Baltimore (MD) + Washington DC + stretching to Virginia and West Virginia
• Los Angeles (CA) + Orange County (CA) + Santa Barbara (CA)
We have smaller clusters forming in:
• New York City (NY)
• A triangle between Cleveland (OH) + Cincinnati (OH) + Pittsburgh (PA)
• Charlotte (NC)
• Austin (TX)
• Houston (TX)
• San Antonio (TX)
• Miami (FL) + Fort Lauderdale (FL)
• Las Vegas (NV)
• Seattle (WA)
I have connected everyone within the above clusters via e-mail so please check your junk mail folders in case you haven’t noticed an e-mail from me. Once registered, but not before, you can send e-mails to other users in your proximity here: http://www.casesplitter.com/send-email/create - but in the early days when there are relatively few users, we are sending out e-mails so that you can easily copy / paste e-mails and connect directly with people in your area.
We have isolated Case Splitters in the below locations so we need more people to sign-up so that we can match them to begin splitting cases:
• Richmond (VA)
• West Virginia
• Dallas (TX)
• Tucson (AZ)
• New Orleans (LA)
@kawichris650 @ScottW58
Scott,
Is this sponsored or associated with WB ?
If not, is there any transparency regarding security?
@kawichris650 @rjquillin
I have no idea but I doubt it? Security from what? Pretty sure the limited info I put on there big brother could get without even trying
@kawichris650 @rjquillin @ScottW58 It doesn’t look like it’s associated with WB, just some guys from Singapore. That’s why I held off on signing up. But if you only give name and email there is limited PII which is a good thing.
@hscottk @kawichris650 @ScottW58
Just making an email address even more visible than it may already be causes at least a pause.
@hscottk @kawichris650 @rjquillin
Well i’m sure that we have all given our email addresses to thousands of wineries/wine stores/flash sites the list goes on and on so i’m not really worried lol.
Interesting article on De Negoce in Vinography. It sounds like the upcoming PNW releases will include a Chehalem Mtns PN Mixed case. Good to see them changing it up a bit.
Interesting, seems WD has his finger prints on many sales channels.
Just got a shipment and, the shipper was…
Yup.
Wine Country Connect
Must be some awesome discounts from Brown with all the cases he’s moving.
@rjquillin
Yes, enough savings to not have to worry about a relatively small percentage of disgruntled customers who would like a choice.
@chipgreen @rjquillin I want fed ex back. The brown was supposed to be deliver my Onesta today. Not holding my breath. Hope they did not lose my 2 cases.
@rjquillin I saw the WCC shipping also. Was surprised they could handle that much inventory for shipping. Must be a very large warehouse! Or perhaps these are coming in and going out quickly.
Which offers have you ordered? I’ll be very curious to hear your impressions.
@hscottk Based on the packaging, I almost question if these ever saw the WCC warehouse; those boxes are huge. Rather think it may be a paper deal where picks up some hands off profit on the discount he gets vs. what Cameron could negotiate on his own.
@hscottk @rjquillin I’ve been trying to encourage some of the winery mailing lists I’m on to use WD for shipping, too. $35 for 6-packs within CA (to pick a “random” example) is a bit much.
@hscottk @klezman
I’d wager a bit (quite a bit?) of that is “fulfillment” costs that are added on to the actual shipping fees to cover warehousing, packing and other associated costs.
@klezman @rjquillin Makes sense. I’ve been hearing that labels are printed well ahead of actual shipping, like a week or more. Cam could easily pick them up but the thousands and also them on his cases as they go out.
@hscottk @klezman
Hmm, I think I mostly understood that…
@klezman @rjquillin Phone post gone wrong!
On a different note, who had received wine? Anyone sample any yet? The initial reviews have been mixed and I’m still waiting for shipment. Really interested to hear feedback from others.
@hscottk
One, and another arriving today.
Don’t recall which ones.
@hscottk I received OG 15 Oakville/Oak knoll Merlot, deduced to be Nickel & Nickel. I popped one tonight. Lots of fruit, but underlying structure to match. Surprisingly well built. Can’t predict longevity but seems like a great deal to me.
Also grabbed 43 , Oakville/St helena Cabernet. Not delivered yet.
