Does it seem there is less activity from members?
2Is it just me or does it seem like there is less activity from members in the last few weeks? Usually in the first day or two there used to be quite a bit of activity and now it seems there is less activity/remarks from members. Probably just me, no?

It is so tempting to not reply, but the irony meter would surely break otherwise.
@uncleop tried to not reply as well. #fail
@snapster @uncleop got it. Sorry! I should have just scratched my head and called it a day…
joking aside, i think the length of the offers are drawing out the comments over the two(to three) day period.
I think you are right. If you check the threads throughout the day for recent activity, many of them have no postings for many hours. No explanation for this phenomenon, however.
@jmdavidson1 Maybe people are not comfortable posting, have nothing to say that they feel is important or prefer to lurk in the background and not contribute.
I’ve noticed some of my early casemate split people have vanished.
@jml326 Hopefully not with all the wine!!
@jml326 @knlprez I guess as long as the rest of us keep buying and contributing… I know I am!
@jml326 It mostly turned out to be more trouble than it was worth.
If casemates had a storage site to hold onto purchased wine until I want it shipped. I’d definitely be more active and broke in that scenario.
During WW days, I found myself more happy and comfortable shipping wine between a 4 month window near winter. Summer shipping is useless in my area. Especially my zone for FedEx. I used to get it by the same guy at 1030 am 80% of the time. NOW. I’m lucky to see it by 3pm. Friggin politics and changes suck when it comes to making me wait longer for my wine. I couldn’t imagine being one of those no ship states.
Of course an occasional Golden Ticket would get me on here too. Nudge! Cough! Whispers black tie?
@TechnoViking I thought I would have gotten a Golden Ticket also by now. At least that was the original offer if you bought in as a VMP. My wife and I even went to the party in Sonoma (all the way from Dallas no less).
It’s been fun though and great deals on great wine. I guess as long as the rest of us keep the party going, all will be well.
@hey_zeus @TechnoViking I thought the rat bottles were for those who bought the party package, not lowly VMP-only backers like myself. But also WD has mentioned a few times that people who want to be on the list should write in. I should do that.
@InFrom @TechnoViking Yes that is the case. There was a Casemates Launch Party Ticket and a Remote Casemates Launch Party Ticket (I believe they sent a party in a box - a few of my casemates here in Dallas bought the remote).
As for the write in. I heard that also. How do you write in?
@hey_zeus @InFrom @TechnoViking
I believe it’s a matter of timing (school is about to be out/graduation etc) chatter depends on the wine (the 3 year vert of Keller was awesome), and it seems the type of site and business where you can check in at midnight, see the offer, get jazzed about it, or move on. The wines are selling well even if the chatter is light. This current PN offer had 18 comments after 36 hours, now it’s like 61. Post more GIFs!
@hey_zeus @InFrom @TechnoViking
I went to the party as well and was wondering if it was something I needed to ask to opt-in to.
I think we’re trying to figure it out still. Most WW offers didn’t have much chatter either in the last couple years. Unless it was super interesting or a known quantity with a rather involved winemaker. What would get things going again is a winemaker who like to talk and who has viewpoint! Like Larry Schaffer or Clark Smith.
@klezman
Or Brian Loring- I went to his tasting here in Dallas last night. 2 chard, 12 PN, most single Vyd. He was pouring 12/13/14/15/16 -Casemates reach out to him and help him clear more inventory! Some elegant wines for sure, and he’s a great guy as well.
@johnnelson7333 Yeah, Brian is a cool guy. He also grills/smokes some delicious steaks.
@WineDavid49 Get in touch with Brian!
@johnnelson7333 I got his card and was going to suggest the same thing. Picked up 5 different of those Pinot’s wed night. So good.
@johnnelson7333 @MSUMike I guess I need to start hitting more of the wine tasting events.
Than speak up!
I post the occasional super annoying gif just for the hell of it.

There’s also the usual ebb and flow of the wonderful interwebz. Spring has sprung and soon summer will follow so people are getting out of the house more. Not me though…
/giphy hermit
@javadrinker Wow! I’d be all over those if they were crawfish. Cold beer and hermit crabs. Hmm… Doesn’t quite sound the same.
Personally, my wine buying budget has run dry for now. Too many good offers in too short a time. For now I am lurking mostly. I think it helps me avoid purchasing.
@Twich22 slacker!
@rjquillin @Twich22
@hey_zeus @rjquillin Also I was in Napa for the last week. Got to cash in on my free wine pairing with @Cornerstone Cellars. They served some dang fine wine. I may have bought a bottle or eight.
@Cornerstone @hey_zeus @rjquillin @Twich22
They do have some lovely wines.
@hey_zeus glad you got to join us for a tasting! Did you find a favorite?
@karenhynesb - thank you! glad you enjoy them.
@Cornerstone My wife and I went to the Casemates launch party in Sonoma. Didn’t quite make it over the hills to Napa. We were in the area for three days so no excuse for not going but we stayed in the Sonoma area b/c of the party and there were way too many wineries to hit. We are definitely going back and this time will stay in the Napa Valley area. Cornerstone will be our first stop. You can always send us a sample pack though!
@Cornerstone @Twich22 Yep. We went in over the weekend and it was fantastic. Seven bottles on order.
@radiolysis Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit! Hoping to get another wine up on casemates soon : )

@MSUMike You sure do. Out comes my DFW/North Texas peeps.
@hey_zeus @MSUMike
You just wanna be an influencer…I know it’s your life goal…
@johnnelson7333 @MSUMike … or an enabler. Probably the latter. Ha, ha…
@hey_zeus @johnnelson7333 if i ever make a major switch in the direction of life. It will involve food, beer, and or wine. Things I’m very passionate about. I do love my current career choice though… Especially since it affords me the ability to enjoy those 3 things.
@hey_zeus @johnnelson7333 @MSUMike Have y’all thought any about what happens over summer months? The fed ex trucks aren’t air conditioned and wine shouldn’t get over 85 degrees at most. I’m thinking we will have a lot of bad wine if we order June-Sept.
@hey_zeus @johnnelson7333 @MSUMike @rainybank They use refrigerated trucks in the summer to get your wine to a central hub within 1-2 days of your location, then the wine gets handed off to FedEx for the unprotected last part of the journey.
For some people this works out well, for others not so much. For instance, those of us in OH have our wine handed off to FedEx in sweltering St. Louis, which unfortunately leaves plenty of time for the wine to get overheated before reaching its destination 2 days later.
@chipgreen @hey_zeus @johnnelson7333 @MSUMike Thanks for the info! Yes, it will likely be the same here in Dallas.
@chipgreen @hey_zeus @MSUMike @rainybank
I tend to agree- anything but unholy expensive FedEx Cold Chain (Lewis Cellars only ships their wine this way) and the window is closing for us Texans until the fall, unless CM can store them somehow. It’s supposed to be in the low 90’s this week in Dallas. Death for wine.
@chipgreen @johnnelson7333 @MSUMike @rainybank Lately I have had FedEx drop off my wine at one of the local Walgeens but only b/c there is no one home to sign for it. The one by my house is stored in an area that has air conditioning. Doesn’t mean it won’t get hot for a few hours but it’s better than having to be in the FedEx truck all day then have to pick it up the next day. So - yes we need to figure something out.
@hey_zeus Same here. If at home, goes to a local fedex locker inside. But I’m sending it to Uptown Dallas work instead more often, since that’s the area I’m sharing more shipments with.
@hey_zeus @MSUMike
I have it all shipped to my office - always someone there 21 or older and sits in air conditioned bliss. However, the 90 degree ride from DFW kills it.
The “community” system on here, well, it’s fine for quick jokes, but makes following a thread of conversation frustrating to say the least. Casemates needs a real forum system…
@mother Which part is frustrating?
@mother snapster et al would hotly dispute that characterisation. Not saying I disagree, but they made a whole lot of very intentional choices rather than just choosing some off the shelf system.
@klezman @mother @dave
Agree, but there are still nits.
You know full well whispers, for you, is a fail, as you don’t get notice since you opted out of email, and I’ve not yet found a way to search for them.
@dave @klezman @mother @rjquillin I get an email for whispers…
I got all the kendric whispers via email.
@Twich22 The entire thing is frustrating- It’s meant for light banter. You have trouble finding the new comments/replies, trying to chronologically engage in or follow a discussion is ridiculously tedious, the whisper system doesn’t remotely cut it, you can’t ignore people, and so on.
@klezman Matt is allowed to be wrong (it even happens to me once in a while!). What works perfectly for meh just doesn’t for Casemates, IMHO.
@CorTot @dave @mother @rjquillin
Agreed on all counts. I had to opt back in to emails for things because there is literally no other way to find where I’ve been whispered at. I’d still prefer to use this site as pull, not push, so I’d like to have a way where I didn’t have to have the emails turned back on.
@mother I think this is the first time I’ve heard you say you’ve been wrong about something
@klezman @mother Fair enough. I agree it can be tedious, and I can see where people would get frustrated. It is not a very flexible system; you have to use it exactly as designed or it all falls apart.
@klezman
/giphy who me
Well I can’t speak for the rest of the country. but looked at recent activity of many of the people tagged in the dfw threads…and none over the past 30 days. I mean that includes people who work for Casemates. Hope the ordering isn’t slowing down. I think I remember only seeing one item ever sell out on here… Is that a good or bad sign?
Heads Up to all VMPs!
No Summer Shipping Enhancements For Us
I may have been a little too quick here… awaiting clarification in the thread linked above.
