Ripe and racy, with a briary underpinning to the focused beam of raspberry and boysenberry fruit. The finish is layered with mocha and licorice notes. This “big” wine matches sensationally with charcoal-grilled beef.
Vineyard/Winemaking Notes
Old vine fruit from Lujan de Cuyo (vineyard planted in 1928) and La Consulta (vineyard planted in 1940) give this release substantial color, attack, and body. Many Argentine “Reserva” Malbecs are sadly dominated by excessive oak - This is not one of those wines - The use of well-seasoned barrels allows the heirloom vineyard fruit to shine bright.
This outstanding Malbec is elaborated from a special selection of vines that are over 40 years old. We define this memorable wine with good structure, balanced tannins and delicate toasted aromas from the oak barrels in which it was aged for 18 months. This wine was not stabilized or filtered to preserve the natural intensity and expression of the fruit; because of this, you might find subtle deposits. It should be decanted to appreciate its uniqueness.
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Dark tar and asphalt aromas are more than an accent to this wine’s bold berry and coffee scents. Its plump, chunky palate is more static than lively, with baked plum and spiced cherry flavors. The finish is tannic and a touch heavy, with low acidity. Drink through 2019.

Hector and Pablo were born in Mendoza, the cradle of wine and were raised together. Their childhood and their home were always connected to a sensorial world, with aromas, ingredients, and flavors that, over time, motivated them to choose the path to become enologists. As adults, they would find these familiar memories and similar passions. Since 2002 they have been dedicated to their project as a small family winery. Today the brothers have evolved to form the new generation of winemakers, leading an evolutionary change in Argentina’s viticulture. With that same spirit, the Durigutti brothers craft their wines and have started to write their own history, a family legacy, in a chosen place where they live and work daily with dedication.

I received the labrat notification midday on Thursday. So the wife and I decided to stay in on a Valentine’s Day Friday night for dinner and wine. Thanks casemates for saving us money
Now on to the wine, we are both big fans of Malbecs and not disappointed with his one. Very dark pour with legs for days. Woody and earthy nose. Definite oak undertone but not too much. Notes of dark fruit and smooth tannins. Paired very well with a Thai sauce BBQ chicken meal we through together. Of course would be good with a nice steak. If you like Malbec’s this is a great buy.
Hey guys, sorry for the late report but I was traveling and just got back. So let’s dive right in!
I poured this pretty much straight into the decanter as soon as I got it after reading the label and let it rest for about an hour or so. First impressions is the nose has a raspberry aroma with some alcohol. It has some legs and is a dark purple in color. Initial taste is a Blackberry followed by a tart cherry. Medium bodied wine with some tannins at the end. It’s a very quick flavor and doesnt overly linger on the palette. Overall it’s a quality malbec that my wife and I really enjoyed on our Sunday afternoon. Thanks Casemates and Ariana and Alice for the oppurtunity!
