@xandersherry - I lived in Oklahoma for 2 years in the ‘70s in the Army…at the Comanche County Cannon Cocker’s College for Confused Cannoners (aka Fort Sill)…gotta say the reality made the Oklahoma! of the musical which we put on when I was in high school seem sophisticated….
Well, I never been to heaven
But I been to Oklahoma
Oh, they tell me I was born there
But I really don’t remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter?
What does it matter? - 3 Dog Night
Ohio resident, and OSU alumnus, I took two trips to college football national championship in Arizona. Our group shared driving both times, but timed up the night driving through the middle of nowhere Oklahoma.
The most gorgeous night sky I have seen in person. Wouldn’t want to live anywhere near where we were.
Stayed for 3 days on a Holstein cattle ranch owned by my roommate’s Aunt. 350 acres. Milked my first cow, lol. Everyone in that area had oil and gas pumps on their property. His aunt was retired but had royalty checks coming in from Sun Corporation.
The name of the town escapes me right now but it was near Tulsa because we all went to the state fair.
On the way there (from Columbus) we both! fell asleep at 3am, in Kansas. His VW Rabbit went down in the ditch, then back out,luckily. Mud flying and smoke (steam we found out). Dented oil pan. He tossed me the keys “let’s go”. 2 minutes later he was passed out. I was still shaking a bit
I picked “visited” but the real answer is “I lived there” past-tense.

@KNmeh7 I guess we should have had at least one more driver when we went out west!?

@pmarin
I go to OK occasionally, being in the O&G industry it’s a hazard of the job. Don’t mind the cities much but other than that it’s a lot of nothing
