I like bourbon, but the vast majority of bourbon barrel aged things come up tasting odd.
Very recently i had barrel aged coffee (aged green for 4 months, then roasted) – tasted like an insipid coffee Old Fashioned.
Bourbon barrel aged beer? No thanks. But wine barrel, neutral oak, and foeder i’m totally cool with.
I’ve only had one bourbon barrel wine, but that i’ll chalk up to low quality juice.
Perhaps it’s the odd harmonics in the bourbon smells reminding me of unkind nights of my youth, but no thanks.

obviously not me
I’ve enjoyed some bourbon barrel aged beers but have not liked the 2 or 3 bourbon barrel aged wines that I’ve tried.
Maybe this offer from 1000 Stories could change my mind, but I’m not willing to put my money on it. Maybe I’ll try a bottle from TJ or Total, but until then, No.
I really enjoy Cooper & Thief Red Blend. Real jammy, and 17%.
