We had our first rain today, quite early in the season, but it raises my hopes for later this fall. The chanterelles and boletes (and even the oysters) have been sparse if not outright dormant the last few droughty & warm winters, so hoping for a good bloom for the holidays this year, with some follow-up hedgehogs in January!
I adore the aromas of mushroom in the wines that call for it. I don’t think I have ever had a cooked one I did not enjoy. I am still on my way to enjoying the raw taste after my college days of the associated joy from eating not-exactly truffles.
Our food would be so much less without mushrooms in some form.
All of the mushrooms
