Tasting Notes
The wine’s color and taste were inspired from sparkling Rosés from around the world. The wine is made in the “Saignee” method by adding 2% still Pinot Noir to the blend to create the beautiful garnet pink color.
This Brut Rosé has a melon-mango color and tropical fruit, pineapple, orange, and pink grapefruit on the nose. Additional hints of spices like cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and clove. The cornucopia continues on the palate with custard, a real delicacy. The finish is long and round, a sweet kiss.
Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery specializes in Méthode Champenoise sparkling wines. Family-owned and run, the New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-based sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines, with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house in Bethon, France. More than 25 vintages later, Gruet Winery has achieved unprecedented acclaim and remains a favorite of the nation’s top sommeliers.

Very pleased with this particular assignment. I received a bottle of the rose Brut.
Brioche and berries on the nose with a hint of carob. Perfectly balanced, though with a tiny bit of sweetness. Complex and substantial, with very finely entrained effervescence. I tried this with my parents, both of whom are veterans of the fine wine industry. We all agreed that it would rate very favorably against many similar wines in the $30-$40 category. As good as it was out of the bottle, it only improved over time, which is a good indicator that one could safety lay some of it down, no need to rush drinking this, though that will take some self control.
The highest praise of all was that my mom went for a second glass- something she very rarely does, especially for sparkling, unless it is truly fantastic.

Gruet Mixed Rosé Sparkling - $15 = 7.89%
Hi all, I was selected to be a lab rat for this offer but I am out of town and the package is currently waiting in ups purgatory to be delivered tomorrow. I will say that I am a repeat buyer of the Gruet offers here at Casemates. I think if you like bubblies you really can’t go wrong. The Sauvage rose is a particular favorite of ours - not at all sweet but beautiful color and berry aroma and flavor.
Oh man I have two mystery cases on the way but I do love pink bubbles… Does anyone else feel a little embarrassed by the amount of alcohol the ups person has to carry to your house?
@CruelMelody My UPS guy is actually pretty fantastic about this He even helped me get the new wine fridge in the house in exchange for a bottle from the rack!!
Would get (‘cause of the Sauvage) but might be hitting the road soon so can’t order. Bring it back Nov-Dec as often happens. And make sure to include Sauvage!

Regular buyer of these, but price has steadily increased by substantial amount so will have to pass
Easy two case order. Wife loves the Sauvage, and still cheaper than buying local.
