Brut NV was our first wine released in 1989. As the predominant grape used in Champagne, we wanted our first sparkling wine “to express the finesse of Chardonnay.” -Laurent Gruet
Wonderful aromas of green apple and citrus mineral notes make for a delightful start to this traditional sparkler. Our Brut NV offers bright, crisp acidity complemented by a touch of yeast on the delightfully long finish. A classic house style!
French for “white of black,” Blanc de Noirs describes a sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir grapes that are gently pressed and its juice runs off the skins. Our Blanc de Noirs NV was first released in 1990. Following the success of our Brut release, we wanted to add a non-vintage wine using Pinot Noir, similar to the classic blends of NV Champagnes.
Pale salmon in color, our Blanc de Noirs has aromas of berry and pear, complemented by a rich, round mouth feel on the palate. It finishes with a layer of cream and pleasant, warm toastiness. Incredibly versatile and pairs with all styles of food!
Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery specializes in Méthode Champenoise sparkling wines. Family-owned and run, the New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-based sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines, with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house in Bethon, France. More than 25 vintages later, Gruet Winery has achieved unprecedented acclaim and remains a favorite of the nation’s top sommeliers.

Ok…any worthless words of wisdom today? Not many but of course!
Yes, as noted above, the Brut Sparkling was a Wine Spectator 90 points and a Smart Buy in 2016. It was also, as noted Wine Spectator #1 Sparkling Wine: Top 100 Values, in 2019. They did however review this wine in 2024:
87 points. A bright version, with easygoing flavors of apple, tropical fruit and toasty spices. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now. Tim Fish 9/1/24 20,571 cases made.
And yes, 95 points from Cheers & Beverage Media Magazine in 2017.
The Blanc de Noirs:
Cheers magazine, that 95 points also 2017, and a 94 in 2021, although it mentions it’s a New Mexico wine, not, and they like it because of the Chardonnay component??
That Top 100 and 90 points from Wine Spectator noted above is a tad dated at 2011. Actually it was indeed a New Mexico wine at the time, so apples and oranges anyway. Wine Spectator, a recent review. 89 points. Festive and lively, with apple and strawberry flavors that build richness and gain spice notes toward the finish. Drink now. 5,903 cases made. Tim Fish 8/19/24.
That 90 points from Wine & Spirits magazine is from 2015
This offer is basically winery price, no discount. And $20 more on a box of 12 than that previous October 2023 offer.
$15/btl at my local (less than a mile) store, which is really well curated and staffed by great folks. Also 10% off a case, so it’s actually cheaper. I’ll support them this time. Sorry that the days of $11-$12 Gruet bottles are gone…
Super disappointed in the price this time. I usually buy two cases to last me all year, but I can get this cheaper locally. If it were $12/bottle, I’d jump on it again.
Definitely not the value explosion as previous offerings. I had to contemplate this one a bit…as others have said, once I hit parity of the local bottle shop this is no longer an autobuy.
Yup. I can’t buy it here anyway being from Ohio but Fresh Thyme sells plenty of it for same price. Actually I dont think its that great. Maybe for the price its ok. But I only drink the champ for special occasions so I’ll go up a notch in price

Gruet is an easy decision for me. It never ships to my state.
@hscottk not mine either so I can’t be tempted
I used to be all over these deals for Gruet… but the grocery stores here sell it less NOW when I buy 4 bottles. 🫤

Even buying by the case, my local liquor store is cheaper.
@Vinito ahh… that’s not Gruet… (i just couldn’t resist)

fwiw
Seems like Gruet increases about 10 bucks per offer. Kind of like they’re searching for the ceiling.
@davekunze They may have found it here, with prices at local stores reported better.
The store that carries Gruet near me is still ever so slightly more expensive. So I’m in again. May just start buying locally next go around, though.
Cheaper at Sam’s @ $13.98/btl
I bit since it is cheaper than the store, but jussst barely and maybe not worth getting the delivery. We’ll see.

My every Gruet offer posting of PLEASE SHIP TO INDIANA!
Can buy cheaper at my local store so not sure what the incentive to buy here is anymore.
I’ve bought these here in the past to give away at Christmas, however, as many have mentioned, it’s cheaper locally.

Usually an autobuy, but this is not a good deal for me, less cost in FL and no worry about shipping.
@jaxboating Exactly.
