Has age affected your time horizon for aging wines?
3I used to put select wines aside for 10+ year aging but I find, at 65, that my perception of a “mature” wine has changed. I’m not longer buying wines for the long term and it affects how I evaluate a buy. I’m sure this isn’t unique but wonder how many others are going through this.

Yes sadly I have come to realize that the time has come to not buy anymore long term wines. Of course a few still slip through because i’m weak but i’m trying to just back fill older wines now and buy wines that I can drink in a 5 year window.

Yes, there is that, and it’s clearly getting closer.
Seems I do look for bottles with some existing age, but also get lured into more recent vintages.
Guess I may need to take a clue from scott and kill some youngsters.

As I move further into my 60’s I also find myself being much more selective in what I pick up. I have a cellar that could last me for a decade at least so I really am not looking for bottles that I need to age however I admit I’m a sucker for some nicely aged cabs & syrahs.
Sadly I am in the same boat. Making this even more difficult it that SWMBO reminds me that we have “enough” wines so a quasi-WBM has been going on for some time now. I tend to look for deals on older vintages so I can drink them within the next ten years. Of course, the ten year window keeps moving the longer I stay alive. Hooray.
Same thoughts as everyone else in the mid 60s, but don’t overlook the legacy of a cellar of nice aged wines. Should any of us pass before the cellar is empty, perhaps our children will remember us fondly as they enjoy the remaining bottles. I can always rationalize buying more wine.
