If I am reading a word that is new to me, I will look up the definition, but not really care about the pronunciation.
A lot of scientific words, hobby-specific, etc. are in that category that I know the word and the meaning, but have never had to say the word out loud.
If I am somewhere with friends or it comes up for some reason I will flat out say that I have never spoken this word before, and it is probably incorrect.
If I know ahead of time I am going to have to say a word that I don’t know how to pronounce… then I look it up, duh.
But the default is just keep on talking like I do, and not be surprised when someone corrects me because I am from Ohio. I swear the people before me purposefully mispronounce city names to ruin my sense of certainty with the English language.
If someone writes a word incorrectly, or uses improper English, I think less of them. If someone pronounces a word incorrectly, I assume that they learned the word by reading it, and cut them some slack.
