Unlike the authoritarian public school system where you have to ask permission to use the restroom, once you are an adult, you can just get up and leave. I think it carries on in my head that I usually tell people I am going to use the restroom. No, I do not do this in court, or a deposition, you just ask for a break. But, good conversation going on, and you just leave without saying? That is far more awkward than saying you need to do something that every human does.
