Iron Horse Vineyards Wine Club
1Would anyone happen to be a member of their club? Stopped by when we were driving through and fell in love with their wines. I’m thinking about joining the wine club, but was hoping to hear from someone else with experience about what tends to be in the shipments and whether it’s worth it.

Worth a shot
You may want to chat with @ddeuddeg.
He’s been a member for quite some time,
but seems to be on a vacation from these parts lately.
@rjquillin I continue to find this format frustrating, especially in comparison to what we were used to having. However, I’ve been unwilling to whine about it, knowing that will be unproductive. I do pop in and read what’s posted frequently enough, but I guess I haven’t had much to say.
RJ is right, I’ve been a member for quite some time. Originally, I was getting two bottles at a time, six times a year, getting beaten up by the shipping costs. While at the tasting “room” after a couple of years of that arrangement, I asked the wine club manager, who just happened to be there at the time, if I could switch it up and get six bottles at a time, twice a year. She said I could, but if I wanted to make that kind of move, I might want to consider bumping up my allotment to a case, instead of six bottles, because at that level, I’d be getting some wines that are available only to those members, particularly in the sparkling category.
So, I now get a case twice a year, with six bottles of bubbly, three Chardonnay, and three Pinot Noir. All of their wines are excellent quality. That level may not be for everybody, but we really enjoy the wine, and the relationship we’ve been able to build with Joy Sterling (the CEO) over the years. She basically treats us like family. You can look at the various options here: https://www.ironhorsevineyards.com/Wine-Club/Join-The-Club
Hope this helps.

Err, see the Alexana Winery Wine Club thread for context.
That said, with the lack of Casemates Iron Horse deals it may be a realistic option at some point and, as always, I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

Perhaps I need additional caffeine, but I don’t see how that wine club provides context for an IH wc question.
This looks like you were asking about joining IH.
What am I missing?
@ddeuddeg @rjquillin
@faith2202 asked about the Alexana wine club and @Winedavid49 responded “i’ll contact them for a special casemates deal. wait for that.”
I copied/pasted faith’s post verbatim into this new thread as a tongue-in-cheek way to ask for an Iron Horse offer.
Now go grab some coffee!

@chipgreen @faith2202 @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Regardless of your silly motivation, everything I said about the IH Wine Club still stands.

In general…
From the clubs I’m currently in, or have been in, I find the cost of a delivered bottle generally well above what WD does for us here.
Looking purely at bottle cost, all too frequently I can find them for less from other sources, and a number of sites “free” ship with a minimum purchase, or ship all purchases for a flat rate annual price.
I find this particularly true with IH; however…
the selection may well be limited when compared to club-direct offers that often have exclusives not otherwise available. Both Buena Vista and St. Supery come to mind with specials as well.
Some here have endured long wait-list to get on offers from some producers, where, should you be lucky enough to find a bottle for sale, it may be well above the club price.
A hold for favorable WX to ship is also a plus compared to WW or CM as well.
Due diligence will serve well.
