Bringing J Dusi into the public realm of the wine industry has been a life-long dream for me. I grew up living on the vineyard, participating in grape farming, and begging for my Grandfather to teach me the winemaking process. I wanted to further my education and involvement in closing the gap between farming grapes and drinking the finished product, a great wine.
It wasn’t until 2005 that I decided to go for it! With the encouragement of others loving the homemade wine, and knowing that my dream was to always make my own label and travel the world selling it, I took the leap. Now I have my third vintage of J Dusi Wines available and ready to drink! Salute!
I was born and raised on the vineyard that my Grandfather Dante, his father, and two brothers planted in 1945. As vineyards were rare in the area at that time, Zinfandel was the Italian varietal of choice. They implemented the farming practices of head pruned vines and no irrigation, dry farming. Today, 65 years later, we still carry on their farming traditions and uphold one of the areas most loved vineyards.
On any given day, you can drive into our vineyard, and you will find four generations working or playing in the vines. Day to day operations are a family endeavor; disking fields, suckering vines, hand pruning, and life on the vineyard. Harvest is another story… the ENTIRE family participates daily in order to get the vineyard picked at ripe sugars and delivered in perfect condition. We are the tractor drivers in the fields, we are scattered among the pickers, and we are the first to call a donut break at harvest time! They are long hours and hot days, but always gratifying!
I hope you enjoy every drop of J Dusi Wines…
And feel the time and love that went into it!

Not comparing to this Cab but back in MAR 2019 the Tres Cojones red blend (50% Tempranillo, 18% Monastrell, 18% Grenache, 14% Petite Sirah) so good! Remember the black tape?

It was 95 Degrees the day this arrived in Chicago so I threw this in the chiller and brought it down to 60 degrees. It was an effort to wait until - well I almost made it to dinner… Upon pop and pour this wine was tight - some good alcohol on the nose and in the throat and the traditional spice you find with Zins of the region. A beautiful deep ruby color, light legs and a really nice smooth silky body. Unlike some of the Zins I’ve found north in say for example the Russian River area this body was not too viscous and was easy to drink even prior to decanting.
In the decanter it went.
After a 2 hour decant we sat down to dinner (pea shoot pesto) and this wine was singing. The wife and I both noted how much this wine mellowed and opened. Wonderful aromas of cherry preserves and hints of vanilla. Upon drinking you are greeted with a tiny spike of citrus that we both settled to be lemon, we finished the first glass searching for it over and over again. This blend paired perfectly with our vegetarian fare on night one.
Night two we went with a quinoa bowl with some very earthy vegetables and again (unsurprisingly) this wine worked well. Most notably on night two you get a convergence of the grapes which really pulls the wine together - Day 1 it was easy to find the Zin and Cab - Day 2 it became greater than it’s constituent parts and my wife commented - “I could drink this every day.” Honestly at this price we may - In for 2 cases.
Thanks Casemates for turning an ordinary quarantine night into an extraordinary one!
@pete0744 Frankly, you had me at “pea shoot pesto.” We love pea shoots and we love pesto, but have never combined the two. Now we have a reason to do it and a wine to pair it with. Makes me happy! In!
@JDusiWines
Glad to see you here! We have loved several vintages of your Pinot Grigio offered here and on the old site. I still have a few bottles of the 2017. Hope to see another vintage of the PG here again soon!
@stinks logged in as my wife and used $20 off new user coupon from casemates meh order of pedroncelli. Made this an easy buy!
Make sure you actually open boxes you receive, sometimes there is a surprise in there.
Was pleasantly pleased to see that a surprise was coming in the mail for me right before the holiday weekend, and I rushed down as soon as I got the delivery notice to see what it was. This bottle got added to the row of bottles that are slightly past their drinking window in need of drinking - didn’t make the cut for our dinner on the 4th, but Sunday night it did! Didn’t have anything particularly matching on the dining calendar, so homemade ramen with a red blend it was.
Popped ‘the cork’ before I started rolling out the noodles, so probably 45 mins before dinner. Took a taste right then and definitely breathed of alcohol, so poured two glasses and left them on the table to wait for dinner to be ready - tossed in my wife’s new wine chilling drops for two minutes before we sat down.
Similarly to my fellow Chicago-based Rat (we only have the best rats in Chicago!!), it was strongly red fruit forward and was pleasantly pleased with how it went with a slightly spicy ramen dish! It was simply perfect to drink on a hot summer night. I have to say that unfortunately it went so well that there was no day two, but I can assure you that it would have been great!! Both the wife and I felt reminiscent of a mild Zin.
At the current price point, I’d be all over this…unfortunately with three cases waiting for me in a wine country warehouse for summer hold to end, the wife shot down the idea of another case (or even half), but I would jump on it if I needed a nice ‘any night of the week’ drinker! It was exactly that!
I want to buy my first case of wine, but I had a coupon code from buying wine from meh that was something like “TREBUCHET20” but that’s not working. Anyone remember what it was?
Based on the vintner, Chicago rats, and pricing, this is an easy decision despite an absence of any more storage space. Rack up another case for the IL shipment!

I really want to get this but i’m sitting here waiting for the UPS truck (2nd day) my tracking showed it loaded for delivery yesterday morning but it never came and it’s almost 5pm today and still no sign-i’m afraid it will be cooked!!! This is the Harvest Moon.
Regretting only buying 6 of this one. Opened immediately upon arrival and this is a great every day drinker. Full bodied but incredibly smooth, this is a fantastic sipper while watching the movie or pairing with some dark chocolate or buttery popcorn.
@alternatetheory@PaulW was on Reverse Wine Snob for $48 for 4 bottles plus $10 flat shipping for multiples of 4 - did not buy on here or RWS but thought about it after favorable comments on here
@alternatetheory@ctmariner@PaulW Agreed, maybe like the Peterson Vignobles Red we will see a repeat. That was also a great wine! I should open the two of them and taste head to head!
@alternatetheory@ctmariner@PaulW
I was going to make the Model M my first ever Reverse Wine Snob order but I read the email too late. Then I saw all the other expired offers and can haz sadness because I also missed a Dennen Vacationer Rose offer. I have begged for that one in the Wish List thread a couple times.
@alternatetheory@chipgreen@ctmariner@PaulW Ok I tried the Vignobles vs the Model M and both have a similar flavor profile, if you like the barnyard the Pig will be more to your liking. The Cab Sav in the Tractor rounds out the blend and is missing in Peterson’s offering. Both are great BBQ wines.

@pete0744 This was all I needed. In for 6 bottles.
@pete0744 Right over the edge - in for 6.
@pete0744 Awesome report. Now I feel like I need to buy some.
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!

My goal in this red blend was to create a wine great for everyday drinking, so I am happy to hear your wife had the same opinion! Cheers!
@JDusiWines any chance you could post a pic of that 1939 Model M tractor?
@JDusiWines
Thank you for your participation! I live in FL & have been hoping to catch a offering of your Pinot Grigio as I have missed out before!!
@rjquillin Oh I will look for one tonight. It’s Allis Chalmers tractor!

@larsrulz great write up! Let me know if you want a few bottles. I bought a few cases. Hope you’re enjoying this oppressive heat!
@larsrulz Thanks for the great report. Chicago does rule!!

How many cases? ph, ta,et al?
@losthighwayz
We made just under 4,000 cases of this blend and solely for distribution
pH 3.9
TA 6.2

@mattsayar
You’re close. CATAPULT20. I didn’t work for me, but that may be because I have already bought a case, or two…
@pseudogourmet98 Thank you my dude! Yeah it has to be your first purchase, which mine was.

@bunnymasseuse
And it looks like it should pair well with the wine!
/giphy neglectful-eloquent-dock
Could anyone provide the proportions of each varietal? When looking up reviews, I noticed some sites don’t mention the Cab in this vintage.
@Lidio
This is a blend that has about
43% Petite Sirah
32% Cabernet Sauvignon
21% Zinfandel
4% other reds
@JDusiWines Thanks!
@JDusiWines @Lidio. Glad I got a case then!

@PaulW 110% agree, one bottle down and only 5 remaining…
@bunnymasseuse @PaulW same! I’m glad I got a case!!
@PaulW Regretting buying ONLY 1 case… this one has probably been my favorite purchase this summer, especially at the price point…

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Peterson. The interesting thing is my wife absolutely hated that one but loves the Dusi.
