Made in a “Brut”, dry and crisp delicate style with hints of litchi nut and peach pits, this sparkling wine will accompany Asian food and light chicken or pork dishes.
Winemaker’s Notes
Having gone to winemaking school in Germany, I have always liked making European-style sparkling wines (Sekt in German). I served my winemaking apprenticeship in the third-oldest sparkling wine house in Germany and have produced sparkling wines ever since. This blend/cuvee was put on triage in March 2021. It fermented in the same bottle and was taken off triage/disgorged in November 2022.

2021 Jana Winery Tickle Me Pink Rosé
Tasting Notes
This sassy, sexy, foxy, and yummy wine has a good balance with a light refreshing mouthfeel. Its floral notes are strawberry, bubblegum, peach rings, and honeysuckle with notes of cotton candy. With fresh carbonation on the finish, this is a perfect summertime hot tub wine or wonderful crowd-pleasing brunch wine.
Winemaker’s Notes
Crafting wines like these are when we as winemakers get to truly practice our art. Blending Scott’s European training and 47 years of winemaking with Mollie’s new Cal Poly winemaking schooling and southern hemisphere apprenticeships has produced this fun hot tub and party wine.

After decades of creating and crafting premium wines for wineries like Santino and Folie a Deux – and putting Amador County on the map as a world-class appellation – Scott Harvey launched his own winery in 2004. With decades of winemaking experience on two continents, it’s no wonder his wines have become an immediate sensation. It’s an overnight success 35 years in the making. (Oh, and Scott’s not too shabby with a pen, either.)

Always a wonderful surprise to get the email from Alice! Even better when we find out that it’s one of Scott Harvey’s.
Obligatory back label
The bottle opened with a nice pop after sitting in the fridge all day. The first pour showed the bubbles to be very small and rolling quickly up the sides of the glass. Aromas of light stone fruit and yeast to go along with the straw color. First sip was much more fruity than I was expecting from a Brut. I did check the specs, which confirmed a dry wine, and 12.5% alcohol on the label. The flavors of apricot and honeysuckle with a nice acidity lent it some depth. Almost made me think it was a dry riesling. It is definitely crisp, with a pleasant mouth feel and those tiny bubbles. I was traveling all week, so we didn’t really have an opportunity to pair properly with food. That said, it was a great glass of sparkles!

Brut. I don’t hate it. (This is a huge big deal because I don’t like bubbles. Ever.) Tastes of apple. Not overly bubbly (which is the part I don’t prefer so that’s great!) The bubbles that do exist are teeny tiny. Acidic? Seems like it would go REALLY well with brie. But we’re having it with pastrami and coleslaw, which isn’t the worst thing. I drank my whole glass so that says something. If I’m going to have to drink bubbles, these would be the ones I’d want.
Anything from Scott Harvey is an auto buy - and they actually make their sparkling - vs. a single large mass producer that just slaps a label on it. Good to see them back.
@klezman I understand the frustration, but went in for the 4 pack anyway. The way I look at it, I’m paying $30/bottle for the bubbly and the rosé is a throw-in. I shopped sparklers on BD and didn’t see any at that price point. Although 4% RS is more than I would normally consider, I will try a bottle out of respect for Jana and, worst case, gift the other.
@davirom@klezman@CorTot If you consider the chocolates ($14.75 on their website) to be part of the “value” in this offering, ordering 3 4-packs (which should yield 3 bags of chocolates) is a better value than ordering a case.
Allergic to chocolate, so if anyone at CM wants to swap me in something else non-chocolate (casemates swag!?!) as a replacement I won’t be unhappy ( otherwise someone else will enjoy the chocolate at my expense).
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?
(Note: tax and shipping AND CHOCOLATES are not included in savings calculations).

Good evening fellow casemates. Sorry I’m late to the party. First time Rat here.
Thanks to Alice for the opportunity and the lovely Casemates glass.
I was patiently awaiting the brown truck yesterday, which turned into anxiousness, as UPS is usually here late morning or early afternoon. I was going to pair a nice dinner to compliment the wine but I had to proceed nonetheless with dinner. My package finally arrived sometime after 6 pm and was hoping for a red, kind of expecting a white. So, I was surprised to find a Rose (which my wife and do both enjoy.)
I was also excited to see the wine was from Scott Harvey Wines, whose wines I have always been a fan of.
Luckily, the wine was chilled do to Ohio weather, so we dove right in. The bottle was equipped with a screw cap, and upon pouring I was surprised to see bubbles. The wine has a pale pink hue, initial aromas were of strawberry, mango maybe some white peach. My wife said she thought pear but agreed with my nose.
I temped the wine at 59 degrees which was maybe a little warm for this style of wine so I put the rest in the fridge while we tasted and finished dinner.
I would say this is lightly effervescent, not like a Champagne or Cava. Palate was pretty consistent with the nose. Getting mango, strawberry and some peach. I also am getting sweetness, almost like jolly rancher. I think this definitely has some residual sugar.
My daughter said it tasted like sparkling grape juice, technically not wrong, lol. I can totally see where that is coming from. There just didn’t seem to be anything interesting about this wine. After getting the wine to 42 degrees not much had changed with the flavor profile, just muted sweetness.
Unfortunately, this wine did not pair well with my dinner of chicken piccata, garlic smashed potatoes and sauteed broccolini. There wasn’t enough acidity to cut through the sauce, or any attributes to harmonize with the food. I think this may pair with spicy food or a simple charcuterie.
Not much changed on day two. It has just gone a little flat, to be expected.
My wife said this would be a great girls patio or pool wine on a warm spring/ summer day. Stylistically, this is not my type of wine. I’m going to have to pass on this offering.
@smoothie72 Thanks for this review. I describes the wine in such a way as folks who either like or dislike the characteristics can make an informed decision.

Honestly I just really want some of those chocolates.
I would’ve bought yesterday’s offering if the smaller box were a bit cheaper.
Frustrating pairing! If anybody wants to send a few bottles of the bubbly my way let me know. I don’t want the off dry pink.
@klezman this was my take as well, also why the lousy case discount on this one?

@woopdedoo Thanks, I kind of rushed writing this. I thought I missed the offer, only to see it in my email this am.
@smoothie72 @woopdedoo to, that’s what a rat report should be. Describe the wine so people can make an informed decision.
It’s Scott Harvey. That’s all I need to know. In for a case.
