Bolder aromas of cranberry, fennel, cedar, and toasted hazelnut give way to lighter strawberry, rose water, and petrichor scents. Red currant, dark chocolate-covered fig, dried black truffle, and roasted coffee bean converge on the palate with a mouthwatering and lasting ending.
Winemakerās Production Notes
We combined fruit from our two estate vineyards to create a bolder, more complex Cabernet Sauvignon. Both American and French oak barrels were selected to impart the distinctive flavors of each type of wood and fully round out the mouthfeel.

The Filippini family history in the Paso Robles area began in the early 1960s when winery owner Sylvia Filippiniās family purchased the property where Le Vigne winery now stands. Hay and cattle were the main commodities until 1982 when the first grapevines were planted. That time was the catalyst for what evolved into the current Paso Robles wine region. Early on, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were planted to supplement the growing demand of other wine-growing regions like Napa and Sonoma. As the vines matured, growers and winemakers began to see real potential for the area with its unique soils, climate, and coastal influence.
The grapes grown on the estate were highly regarded by local producers and always in demand. Recognizing the quality, the family began making wine with grapes from the property beginning in 1989. Then they built a state of the art winery in 1995 and developed additional vineyards in 1998. They expanded the wineries varieties to include: Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc in addition to the original plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Additionally, small blocks of Grenache, Petite Sirah, Malbec and Tannat were planted.

Labrat here! Doing a quick post from mobile, will try to update tomorrow with photos and the banner.
The quick version: This seems like a great deal, and if it werenāt for some specific personal circumstances Iād definitely be buying some.
Notes:
Bright ruby in the glass, minimal legs
Pop and pour has some noticeable alcohol on the nose to start, but that blows off to reveal raspberry, maybe a bit of eucalyptus
On the palate red fruit is predominant, with some spice on the finish (medium length)
Moderate tannins that are noticeable, but more round than harsh
I typically struggle to notice oak unless itās overbearing, which was not the case here
We wouldnāt have guessed cab, or at least not of the heavier California style! Maybe closer to syrah. But we liked it a lot, both with food and without. Easily one of the better Casemates / WW wines weāve had in a while.
So much wine, so little time! As noted above, words from the Enthusiast:
91 Points. Editorās Choice. Thereās a pleasant herbal tone to the nose of this bottling, with layers of peppercorns and oregano leading into aromas of graphite, seared wood, charred meat and dark-red fruit. The palate combines those herbal and savory tones with cherry and strawberry flavors. MK 9/1/21

@ttboy23 Not yet! I have until November; I am at the precipice still driving towards that cliff.
I appreciate a simple food pairing suggestion like this one, versus: āPairs best with milk-fed veal, white truffle topped pasta, and hand-foraged ramps watered with unicorn tears.ā 88 Points WS. $35 SRP. HA!
Seriously though, I love non-fruit aromas and tastes. Any herbs, earth, minerals, must, wet dirt, mushroom, etc. etc. etc. Sounds like this has some of those going on.
@ttboy23@woopdedoo They absolutely are! Unfortunately, I tend to not love most of the fruit-dominant California ones, except WineSmithās always checks my boxes.

Iām amazed.
Today Iāve received at least five or six offers for special pricing to celebrate the day.
Perhaps Iām on too many mailing listsā¦
This will be a short, late rat report partly due to just returning from a road trip last night. Now, maybe our senses were dulled from driving five hours, but we didnāt find this cab very interesting. I liked it and would buy it at the right price point as an any-day bottle, say, around $10.
The nose presented dark berries and a hint of coffee. But what was most pronounced was the alcohol. My wife described it as musky metallic. The palate confirmed the nose - blackberry, black currant, some fig, a bit too much heat. Finish was quite short. Minimal tannins. We paired it with some cheese & crackers to no effect. We couldnāt think of a promising pairing. Itās fine to drink this one on its own. Definitely not your typical bold cab, but not bad.

I like the sound of this wine. Anyone in CMH have any interest?

@kawichris650 LOL, thank you
@rjquillin
Perhaps thereās a correlation between that and the amount of wine you have.
Never heard of it, but Toledo is fine, used to work there sometimes!
Before I order a 4 pack-anyone in Northern Va interested in splitting a case?
