Very fresh and elegant, with aromas of red berries, particularly strawberries and raspberries. Fruity, fresh, full-bodied, and with a slightly sweet taste.
This wine is excellent as an aperitif, or with starters, cold cuts, soft cheeses, and desserts.

Winery
Companhia AgrĂcola do Sanguinhal is a modern and innovative cooperative founded by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in 1926. Today, they have three different vineyards located in DOC Obidos, one of the most esteemed wine regions in Portugal.
Abelâs vision was clear from the beginning: Combine the best of both worlds; tradition with modernity. The vineyards and the cellar follow the traditional principles from the region; but it is in the vinification room where a revolution has been made, with completely modern equipment and state-of-the-art technology.
Moinho De Sula White Demi-Sec Sparkling Wine
Tasting Notes
Moinho de Sula White Demi-Sec Sparkling Wine is a lovely wine and if you enjoy a soft sweetness and cheerful bubbles in your mouth, this is your go-to!
Lovely and soft aromas of peaches and apricot and yellow lemon. Fine and cheerful bubbles. The mouth is balanced with a semi-sweet taste, subtle and clean.
Right in the heart of Bairrada, Portugalâs praised sparkling wine region, is Adega de Cantanhede, the largest wine producer in the region and home to this lovely sparkling wine. This cooperative was founded in 1954, and currently has more than 500 winegrowers associated.
The mastermind behind this wine is no other than winemaker Osvaldo Amado, named on different occasions as the best winemaker in Portugal, âTop Winemakerâ in the Wine Master Challenge, and "Winemaker of the Yearâ by the Magazine Revista de Vinhos de Portugal. Osvaldo has had a long and outstanding career in the world of wine for more than 30 years, working in emblematic regions of Portugal such as Bairrada, DĂŁo, Douro, Tejo, and abroad in Spain, Italy, South Africa, Brazil; an icon of Portuguese winemaking!
The Adega de Cantanhede vineyards are planted with typical varieties of the region like Baga, Bical, and Maria-Gomes; however, they have started working with Portuguese varieties from other regions such as Touriga-Nacional, Aragonez, and Arinto, allowing Osvaldo to play with blends and achieve unique, surprising and well thought out wines.

@jchasma@jenludwig where are you two near? Charleston area for me and pass through Columbia and CLT yearly. We have another SC lady in Columbia as well.
Very light bubbles. I wouldnât really call this bubbly. The frissante means lightly fizzy. I think they make the mouthfeel refreshing, but not a typical bubbly.
Not much on the nose - a little red berry.
Light and fruity, definitely not sweet. Refreshing. Agree this is a summer deck wine. Strawberry is most what comes to mind.
This is absolutely an aperitif wine. Itâs so refreshing that it does great with fatty or spicy things. I had this with beef tostadas and it was up to the task. Very palate cleansing. I enjoyed this much more with food than by itself.
There was something about the aftertaste when consumed by itself on the first day that I didnât care for, though I wasnât able to put my finger on it. Old world funk maybe? It was gone on day 2. It reminded me a bit of strawberry spindrift.
Reminded me a bit of braccheto dâacqui, only less bubbles and lighter color. A bit higher alcohol at 12 pct, but also drier. Or Lambrusco, I guess.
I was excited about the idea of a case of mixed bubbly from Portugal, except when I got to the demi-sec part. So guess Iâm waiting for more info and rattage on the demi-sec, because for me the best response to âhow sweet it is?â is âactually very tasty and not that sweetâ
I was so excited when an unexpected single bottle arrived at my door! (I checked my email and there it was, the email from Alice)⊠and I was even more excited when I opened the box and it was a sparkling!!! I gathered my family for a tasting. Most in the group love bubbles!! On the menu was Vietnamese food: Phá», Salmon Vermicelli and Crispy noodles.
We first tried straight out of the refrigerator
PNP
Color - Light golden honey
Aroma - almost none, what we did get was very light âŠsome thought maybe floral? Whatever we were getting was so faint it was hard to pick anything out
Bubbles- Lots of nice tiny bubbles
Taste- Very light, nice, very faint flavors, some thought peach, maybe a hint of almond, hint of lemon. Nothing jumped out. There was a lingering aftertaste we couldnât put our finger on⊠almond? Medium sweet, not cloying sweet, light and refreshingly sweet, if that makes sense.
Mouthfeel- Slightly thicker than expected. Not in a bad way, kind of in a honey way.
We poured another glass and let it warm up as we were eating.
All agreed that it went well with the food. It was not overpowering, just a nice compliment to the food.
As it warmed up, it felt thicker and we could taste a bit more peach, not like eating a fresh peach, just a hint of peach and something else⊠we couldnât agree on the something else. Some got lemon, some almond, some just couldnât figure out what they tasted. Bubbles lasted, even though we all used regular wine glasses.
We all guessed the price to be and it anywhere from $12-29.
Overall impression:
We really liked this wine. Even the one in the group who does not like sparkling.
Nice light, semi sweet, We all agreed, not sweet, not dry, but right in the middle, balanced, lots of tiny bubbles.
We preferred this slightly chilled, almost room temperature.
We decided if the price wasnât to high, we would split a case. Great price point! In for a case!
I am excited to try the Rose.
Thanks WD and Alice for the opportunity!!!
Stay warm everyone! Even here in FL we will be having super cold weather.
Iâm not that into sparkling, but desperately hoping for some reason to bring them into play in the coming months/year.

I had questions on sweetness perception but not available in SC. So carry on without me. PS I do need more bubbles and white/roses. Just saying.
@jenludwig same! And also in SC!

@aces219 thank you for the report & the pic. Great color almost like 49er red.
