@xandersherry My brother went to grad school at App State. Fell in love with the area. Owns some property near the top of one of the ridges… no structure on it, just for camping as of now. But he has future dreams. He did get the well drilled. Nice people, and amazing scenery.
@KNmeh7 I love that. My wife and I are passively looking at property in the area, to eventually build a vaction/retirement place, with an interim goal of doing exactly what he’s doing, and camping on it.
We were fortunate and got a tee time on the Old Course through the lottery system. That area around hole 1, 17 and 18 does not disappoint!
This will be my 8th trip over since 2019… so twice a year (except for the Covid years). 2nd time on the Old Course. I do really enjoy playing the courses over there.
I try to avoid travel in Summer. I occasionally like humans but not so many of them all at once.
Also if I travel by RV/camper the parks are full. And my A/C isn’t up to handling the heat.
Each of our 4 children (and their families) will be visiting us separately over this summer.
I just got back from Boone, NC. It was very beautiful and temperate compared to the heat dome that is over the midwest.
@KNmeh7 Nice! We try to get up to that area once a year or so, since it’s only a couple of hours drive from Charlotte. It’s my favorite part of NC.

Heading to St. Andrews, Scotland in July… then Prince Edward’s Island in August. Slightly cooler climates.

I sure hope you are planning on getting a round in at the Old Course! I am jealous.
