Peachy Canyon is a family owned and operated winery in beautiful Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast; near Hearst Castle and Big Sur.
Founded by Doug and Nancy Beckett in 1988, Peachy Canyon has long been praised as a producer of award winning California wines that exemplify respect for terroir and dedicated winemaking.
Zinfandel has long been Peachy Canyon’s flagship varietal—often times with multiple vineyard designates in production. These red Zinfandels range from elegant and restrained to fruit forward, each an exemplary call to its own terroir. With these exemplary Zins Peachy Canyon has been instrumental in establishing Paso Robles’ reputation as a key California wine region.
Although Zinfandels dominate the tasting menu, you will find Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Viognier and more available to sample, including a series of premium Bordeaux-style wines that highlight Paso Robles’ bucolic vineyard terrain. These wines are epitomized by Peachy’s Para Siempre, a top-tier Bordeaux blend based in Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and Ms Behave, a rich multi-award winning Malbec.
Peachy Canyon has been ranked in the top 100 wines in the world by Wine Spectator magazine, and its many wines have been ranked with 90-point-plus scores, often for multiple vintages.

Back in the day (about 20 years ago) Peachy Canyon’s Zinfandel was carried in one wine shop near me, in central New York (not far from Syracuse). I never saw it anywhere else, nor do I recall the shop carrying anything other than the Zin.
It was a good value Zin back then, and I was disappointed when that shop no longer carried it.
Doing a quick search just now, I see a different local shop carries their “Westside” Zin — only that one bottling. I may have to check it out, though the price is up a bit in comparison to the one I used to buy (even accounting for inflation).
I have no experience with the particular blend on offer here today, but at the price I may just have to give it a try.
So happy for the distraction of getting this wine during this contentious and deeply disgraceful time in our country. I will keep it simple – this is a good wine that pairs well with Italian food and bbq. We sampled over two days and a couple meals. We found it a little sharp and slightly dry. These characteristics are not necessarily off putting but this wine lacked the complexity that we hoped. It’s what you could call “one note”, and also not what I would consider an everyday drinker. It really needs to be paired with rich food to be truly enjoyable. In our wine pantry this would be a specialty wine only brought out for a traditional Sunday super or dishes like pork belly or beef stew – but frankly not an important Sunday super or other special meal. Ultimately, a good drink in the right circumstance, but for us not the bottle I would reach for daily, weekly, or be pushing for, as the wife and I start our “so what are we drinking tonight” conversation. Maybe this is too harsh and has something to do with our mood (but we did try the QPR right after and enjoyed it far more). For this price we are not in…
much love casemates for keeping this interesting and giving us another chance to review!
Very excited to be a LabRat! I got this bottle over the weekend so was able to drink it over a few days. The first glass I poured was a before dinner drink (which I did not decant). I noticed the strong garnet color right away - very pretty. The first taste was smooth and balanced fruit. I didn’t get a taste of oak or any earthier notes.
I then decanted while I cooked dinner. When I tried it later, the fruit was a little stronger but I didn’t notice that much of a difference. This is a bottle you can drink straight away. On day two, the fruit was a little more muted. However, I was using my new wine saver which I may not have secured as tightly as I should have.
The bottle says a red blend and didn’t have the varietals/mix listed so I didn’t google it until after I finished. While drinking this, I was thinking it was more of a Cab, Syrah blend. When I saw Zin as more than 50%, I was surprised. This does not seem like a Zin blend to me. I didn’t taste the spice that I normally associate with Zins. I have a few friends who are not Zin drinkers but this is a blend that I think they would like.
This was a great bottle to drink while enjoying the football games over the weekend!

This is one of those always at Costco bottles for me here in SoCal but I’ve somehow never tried it.
@CorTot I knew I’d seen this somewhere. I too have never picked one up. Hmmmmmm.
I believe Peachy Canyon made the Trader Joe’s brand Zinfandel for awhile

@reesai @WCCWineGirl great Rattage!
Took a gamble on this, the price is right. I’ll share how it is.
