At Pedroncelli, wine is second nature to us. We love to entertain and share our stories over an easy-drinking glass of red wine. The friendships made are more important than the varietal or the shape of the glass. Here’s to friends!
From the fruity aromas to the lingering finish, this friendly red wine showcases the best of the blend. Aromas of blackberry, cherry, and warm spice. Smooth tannins and light toasty oak notes frame the cherry and plum fruit. It is a medium-bodied harmonious wine with a round fruity finish. Made in a ready-to-drink style—no aging required.
Vineyard & Vintage Notes
All sourced within Sonoma County, we searched for the highest quality fruit. The combined vineyards put all the best into your glass from our friendly neighborhood vineyards. 2020 brought a good growing season with a warm Summer and a few heat spikes in September. Grapes for this blend were picked at different times based on maturity. The resulting blend is a very fruit-forward vintage with great aromas and flavors as a result.

The year was 1927. President Calvin Coolidge captured the imagination of nobody. Babe Ruth hit home run after home run powered by little more than whiskey and sausage. And John Pedroncelli, Sr. bought a vineyard and winery in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County. Since then, four generations of Pedroncellis have weathered Prohibition, wine booms and busts, and changing tastes. And they’re still a family-owned operation making acclaimed premium wines. Wherever you are now, Sultan of Swat and Silent Cal, this next glass is for you.

I will certainly be up for this, but had also wanted the Friends White Blend. Unfortunately, got distracted by the events of the holidays and got back here a few minutes too late.
Anyone in the SF Bay Area looking to split their case of the white blend?
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

2020 Pedroncelli Friends Red Wine Blend - $15 = 11.54%
@Drez143 I’m almost afraid to order a case of the red, thinking that the next offer might be a 6+6 (I didn’t buy the white, but my wife really likes it).
@Mark_L I think it was offered back on woot once or twice.
Think of this as the Pedroncelli version of the Wellington Duke or another winery’s easy drinking lots cost blend.
@klezman@Mark_L
Meh had the '18 and looking back the '13 was on w.w June of '15. Some of us here did winery purchases of the '10 in '12. Don’t see much else.

84 Points. Juicy and easygoing, with modest cherry and spice flavors that finish with a snap of tannins. Merlot, Zinfandel, Sangiovese and Syrah. Drink now through 2024. 3,500 cases made. TF Web only 2022
Spectator mentions Syrah but looks like that’s not in the blend… meh had the red once, year or so ago?
I had gotten the email of wine coming my way, and luckily saw it mere minutes after it arrived. As I replied back saying I was sorry and sad that I wouldn’t be there to receive it as we were out of state until the new year. But it was joyously in time for the shipment to be rerouted, so here we are. After one day of grumbling at a UPS driver that came by and left the missed delivery note without ringing the doorbell (while I was sitting in the living room not 10 feet away!), the bottle arrived yesterday afternoon.
Brought it to a gathering to share the joy with friends.
In the glass, the wine has a nice garnet color. It only sat open for a few minutes before we poured glasses. The initial nose was of blackberry bramble and green olive. You can tell it’s young, has also some alcohol on the nose.
The first sips are also a bit hot…this needs air. There are solid tannins and good fruit to sustain allowing this to age a bit. But also has good drinkability now.
You can taste the Merlot part of the blend, but is more characteristic of the Zin and Sangio. A nice dark fruit with mild earthiness.
After a bit, the nose opened up with some cocoa coming through as well. We also moved on to pairing it with our tacos dinner and enjoying the wine and each other’s company so the taking of notes kind of stopped there.
All in all, a very good wine and especially so at this price it is an auto-buy. Was expecting it to be at least $1.50-$2 more per bottle for this offer, especially based on the white offer yesterday.
Hey kids. This is a Tuesday through Monday wine. While it’s a little more fruit forward than our other wines, it is still a Pedroncelli wine at heart. Good acidity, nice balance, great structure–just a little easier up front. This is a screaming good deal for our Friends on NYE! Happy New Year everyone. My first purchase for myself and glad to get in in time. All the Pedroncelli fans here put it over the top for me. Always looking for a good sharable red!
Two red and one white ordered. Not sure Pedroncelli makes a bad wine. I’ll even drink their varietal bottlings that I don’t normally drink from other vineyards. I live for seeing Friends on Casemates! And they’re darn nice people too!

@stolicat call Colin at the winery on Tuesday. 707-857-3531. Tell him Ed said to hook you up!
@pedroncellifam Will do - Thank you very much!
After the white yesterday, I was SO hoping this might be today’s offering … and SO glad to be proven right!

Okay, I must admit, this was a cool back to back offering!
@Drez143 I’m almost afraid to order a case of the red, thinking that the next offer might be a 6+6 (I didn’t buy the white, but my wife really likes it).
@Mark_L I had the same fear/thought! This would have been a great 6+6 combo from the getgo!
As far as I can tell, this is the first time that the Friends Red has been offered here. I’m hoping to hear from some rats.
@Mark_L I think it was offered back on woot once or twice.

So we cracked the first bottle the other night with some leftovers. Two comments:
Opened a bottle last night. Sooooo glad I bought a case. This was excellent.
