Very fragrant! Passion fruit and pineapple notes with a floral nose. Tropical fruit, honey and a hint of grassiness follows and the flavors are fresh and crisp. The spicy finish is framed by mild acidity. This is a white wine to enjoy on its own or with dishes that bring on the heat like curried chicken or Thai prawn salad.
Vineyard/Winemaking Notes
At Pedroncelli, wine is second nature to us. We love to entertain and share our stories over an easy-drinking glass of white wine. The friendships that develop are more important than the varietal or the shape of the glass. Here’s to friends!

A Long Tradition of Rosé
When it comes to appreciating this style of wine we have it down to an art. We have been producing rosé since 1954 and have more than 60 vintages under our belt. We look for a style that captures the essence of fruit and is crisp and a touch spicy. The grapes for our Rosé were harvested from the Pedroncelli home ranch. The site’s well-drained rocky soils, hillsides, and excellent microclimate enable zinfandel to develop generous fruit flavors.
Winemaking
The year brought mild temperatures and a longer growing season with optimal results in the grapes. The vineyard blocks chosen for our Rosé were picked on the 5th of September to preserve acidity, obtain lower sugars and highlight varietal flavors. The result is excellent quality with an intensity of aromas and acidity.
Once destemmed and pressed, the juice is transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for slow fermentation. The fruitiness of the zinfandel grape lends a rounded and balanced flavor in the wine. Bottled a few months after harvest, the wine captures the freshness of

Slightly less crisp on the finish than i expected- more on the white pepper spicy side. Nice balance of sweet vs dry.
Overtime, i pick out more red berry and slight vanilla notes.
I had this with rotisserie chicken, and it was an excellent pairing.
I’ve bought a lot of Pedroncelli wines for they great cost to character ratio, and i see this as the same. It will be very welcome for summer evenings.

2018 Pedroncelli Rosé and friends White Blend - $5 = 4.54%
Super chuffed to get the email and later that day the bottle. Dinner was already planned, and assuming I’d get a bottle of red, the spaghetti and meatballs in homemade red sauce was looking good. A moment’s trepidation ensued when DW texted a photo of the bottle, of Rosé. Nice pink on the orange side coloration. Since we had it already cooling, I decided to do a side-by-side with some random Rosé I’d been long cooling. For the home team Pedroncelli: the fresh red fruits were apparent, no alcohol. Thinking later, maybe the zest of a clementine? The challenger, a North by Northwest Columbia Valley was also popped. First impressions matter. For the N by NW, mine was: Smells like gasoline! Fortunately the taste was not the same.
Pedroncelli: Tart but not sour, decent pairing with the red sauce. Second day after capping and vac extraction was a pairing with chicken sausage, roasted Brussels Sprouts, and baked sweet potato. Not the ideal pairing to show this off, but no taste conflicts and the overnight showed no decrease to our enjoyment. No notable taste or nose changes. The only pairing that brought out a bit more flavor was the Godiva dark chocolate ganache hearts. Those brought out a nice bit of a deeper earthy flavor. Day 3, for SCIENCE, paired with waffle and blueberries and coffee. Still solid and fresh, not tasting oxidized.
TL; DR:
Bright, fresh, steady over time and a solid bottle for a light fresh meal. Auto-buy at the offering price.
Hopefully Ed will show up and join the conversation. Would like know the percentages (or at least an approximation) on the blend. As I recall, it varies from vintage to vintage.
Very appropriately named for a bottle I’d expect to bring to a party and share. I love the standard Pedroncelli label so I’m optimistic about this bottle.
Nose:
Very sweet, reminds me of a Riesling or even a Muscat.
Tasting:
Slight effervescence upon initial opening. Very light, pleasantly sweet and not syrupy.
Would guess there’s substantial pinot grigio in there.
Pairing:
We enjoyed this with an Indian coconut curry and rice dish. Pairing was excellent, sweetness matched the slight heat in the food perfectly.
Conclusion:
Great summer wine for wings and a bbq. Wife instructed me to buy a case!
First things first: I’m not a white wine fan. Sure, I’ll take a glass of bubbles any day of the week, but I rarely if ever voluntarily drink white wine. However, this was a gorgeous, almost spring-time day here in the PNW so a white wine was perfectly appropriate and this one was a pleasant surprise.
After chilling for a few hours, I settled in to do some homework with a glass of this lovely Pedroncelli white blend called simply, “friends.white”. It’s such a gorgeous golden color and I quite like the simple green label as well. Overall a pleasing experience for the eyes.
Upon first pour, I’m getting the most pleasant floral notes wafting up from the glass. Pineapple? Honeysuckle? It smells amazing. This is the aroma you want drifting through the air as you relax in your hammock on a warm spring day. The first sips do not disappoint, either. It’s peachy, pineappley, and so very delightful. I’m actually disappointed that I can only enjoy one glass before heading to the airport (I’m driving, otherwise I’d be all in to down this whole bottle in one sitting). As my glass warmed up, I’m got a bit of honey as well with some notes of fresh-cut grass. This is springtime in a bottle, folks.
Overall, I’d say Pedroncelli has won over this reds-only-please lady with this bottle. I noted that if this case deal is under $10/bottle, I would be in for a case. I’m pleased to see it right at that price point.
I feel like I always get these just before Shabbat, when I’m gonna be offline!
We have the friends.white 2018 Sonoma County White Wine blend. My partner Leo (whom some of you met at the Casemates backer event way back in the day) made his white wine face. (He tends to prefer hearty reds, though he enjoys a Viognier, as well.)
For Friday night Shabbat dinner, I made challah (natch) and a modified chicken marbella using olives, prunes, cinnamon, spices, and my new self-preserved salted limeequats. (Whew!) Also present on the plate, simply dressed arugula. All this is to say, our dinner was sweet/salty/savory/citrus/bitter.
I’d forgotten to chill this wine, so we had it at cool room temp (about 66 degrees.)
Pale color, light in the glass. Our initial sips seemed slightly effervescent. Floral notes, lightly fruity. A kind of bright acidity, but not dry – mid-sweet. Paired just fine with the dinner. I was reminded of the Rieslings I used to enjoy when I was younger. It has a noticably spicy finish, which again, worked well with the food. Leo didn’t love it, but he’s not a light white sort of guy. He agreed with me on the floral, stone fruit notes and the spicy finish.
This afternoon, I’m trying it again chilled, with cinnamon raisin challah and “Smart Sweets Sour Blast Buddies.” (Think Sour Patch Kids, but healthier.) Can this wine handle being paired with sour gummies? Yes, yes it can. The citrus notes work well both ways, and the spice holds its own again the sour gummy.
Also working well with bites of fresh cinnamon raisin challah – again, the light semi-sweetness and fruit picks up on the raisin flavors. Good pairing – I’m already thinking cheese for this.
So, pretty good stuff. The one thing I’d say (and I’m not going to get into this in detail, and don’t want to fight over it) was that we were a bit taken aback by the name/font styling. The “friends.white” feels a bit awkward, in our area and among our very diverse network. I get that the “white” here is the wine, but… we’d expect to be teased if we brought this as a gift. So, if I were picking this out, I probably wouldn’t choose this off the shelf because of that.
That said, I agree, it makes me think of summer – I would love this as a picnic wine, with cheese/fruit/bread, for a Shakespeare in the Park, etc. The twist top would help that low fuss, too.
Alright, folks, it’s still Shabbat here, so I’m back to being off the net, eating my sour gummies, and finishing this glass. Enjoy!

Obviously it affects each of us differently, depending where we live and if we are able to be home to receive shipments (which I am not). Glad to hear it’s working for you!
@birdbrains Mine arrived today (would have been delivered last Friday but I had to delay delivery because we were out of town). All of my bottles look intact.
@birdbrains Mine were fine as well. Sure doesn’t look like any kind of damage that could happen in the shipping carton. Seal was probably compromised prior to packing, and got worse during the bumps and vibrations of transport. These are young wines, though, so I would expect them to taste OK. Assuming so, if it were me, I’d be satisfied with a generous credit toward a future purchase. If it were me.
@baldwino0 fantastic cs took great care of me! I’ve purchased a fair amount, usually without any problems, and especially after how they handled this - there will definitely be many future purchases by me (and anyone else I can convince)

Pedroncelli rose is the Official Beverage of the Cherry Blossom Festival (at my house). (I’m working on everybody else, one bottle at a time).
