Years ago when I was making a lot of beer, I would make up a special batch for Christmas gifts. I made 5 gallons of stout and dumped a little bottle of Hires Root Beer Extract into it. Most popular gift ever.
I do remember getting Sarsparilla (or Sarsaparilla) soda that was made at a soda fountain by some jerk. (well, technically a soda jerk, no offense intended to any jerks out there…)
