@tklivory Yeah, since I’ve been down with something flu-like going on week two now they have gently reminded me of, at last count, the ten I need to fetch that they have now extended beyond their initial hold period. Last w00t! today didn’t help much either.
Hopefully some splitz will help control the volume and share the grape a bit.
@tklivory im sitting on 160 bottles right now. To some that’s not much. But it’s the most I’ve ever had cellared. It’s all PW’s fault. He just had to knock out most of his inventory on woot at a great discount.
I bet RJQ ordered more than my whole cellar in the month of December.
RJQ, while I like the sentiment here. I think it may be time to take the plunge and rent a large storage locker. You have so much and it would be good to protect it. Holding at others places is fine as long as it’s understood that they are going to drink your wine. But wouldn’t it be so much better to consolidate everything and know what you have and better yet be able to get to things you want to pull.
@CorTot You may not know or have forgotten - he already has three lockers in different facilities… Or you know that and it’s true that consolidating might be a good move on his part. There was a plan to build a separate little shed out in his yard, I thought.
@DaveInSoCal hey! We emailed when the wife and I first moved here but in all the insanity that comes with moving 2400 miles away I completely lost track. I’d still love to meet for beer if you can forgive my neglect!
Good to see more SD showing up. On ww it felt like a deserted island down here, but I did frequently visit the SoCal group in LA.
Hopefully we can get some gatherings/sharing happening locally.
For the San Diego group, I snagged a 4-pack.
Only need a single, so three are up for grabs.
you can PM me with interest/info over at ww with the same username. Or, find some other creative way to contact me.
The Pavi has shipped and should arrive arrive tomorrow, Thursday, and I’d have it ready to deliver Friday.
Everything else is already staged and ready to go.
Will the UTC coffee hut work as before?
How soon can we do this so work doesn’t start asking too many uncomfortable questions about the quantity of wine I have in my office…
LA; clearly this doesn’t directly apply to you and I’ll bring them up if I can make it to the lost gathering.
@tklivory Tomorrow isn’t good at all for me; appointments, but next week is open. Be good if we could get a few others to gather at the same time.
Or, I could give you my work address just east of 805 and north of Mira Mesa for a pick-up there if that is any better…
Just wanted to put it out there that I bought a case of the Twisted Oaks Spaniard and the Winesmith Cabernet Franc. I’d be willing to part with a few bottles of each if others in the area are interested. (or drink them all myself, since my philosophy is never buy a case of something you wouldn’t be happy with yourself).
@SoSmellyAir@tklivory Catching up.
My case got allocated, so if you two could could do the deed, great.
I’ve actually got some additional interest for a couple of bottles should there be extra from this case.
Let me know if any are available, please, so I can help out a co-worker.
@radiolysis@RedHot@rjquillin@tklivory No worries, I was just curious to try a couple to see what all the fuss is about. Most likely not going to buy my own 3 pack. Please let me know when the epic wine distribution is going to take place. (I am in Japan next week, though.)
Anyone up for a SD meetup at one of the local wineries (or distilleries) in August? I have a good friend/former customer in Ramona (Woof n’ Rose) and would be happy to arrange a tasting/picnic there on a weekend.
@klezman@radiolysis I would be happy to host. I have lots of availability during the week, but on weekends, the best is probably the weekend of March 16th, but at this time, I could also do the weekend of February 23rd. If I have a good idea of head count, I could likely arrange tastings at a couple of wineries followed by some more wine at the house. We are renting a four bedroom place, so lots of room. What are your availability? Should I create a new thread?
@hershelk Probably best to create a new thread so you can get the proper attention needed and people can vote on preferred dates etc.
And if you feel like heading to West LA, close to LAX, then please stop by to share a bottle or two!
Klez, tell him to bring some of that good Israeli wine! I don’t remember the name of the wine he brought to the 10-year Wootiversary in NoVa but it was delicious. One of the best wines of the night, among some heavy hitters. While I was even more wowed to meet his lovely wife, the wine came close.
re: Chateau de Suronde Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru Chenin @klezman@tklivory@scottw58
Seems like this needs to be an even # split, 2, 4, 6, 8 etc., as there are two vintages.
I think the three of us, Klez, Scott and myself, are all at 2 each of the 2 vintages.
Time to start a second case? @markdaspark you at all interested to help out
