I’m hoping beyond hope that Wellington is still stashed away somewhere. Would really like to lay in some more Syrah and Cab. Would like to get a Pinot Noir too if he ever made any.
@NightGhost Was that David Noyes? His wines have been on wine.woot a time or two and I have also heard that he stepped in for Peter as Denier Handel’s winemaker.
@chipgreen The D-H has been making regular appearances at some local LA area houses at clearance pricing. A bit hit and miss, but generally decent buys, especially when you consider the qpr.
I think it was @trifecta that mentioned David is now helping out Dick.
Probably something available at scale for the case splitting aspect, plus gotta be of wide appeal. Maybe something like the Buena Vista Zin that was on ww a while back.
@mike808 I’ve actually gone to Navarro and tried that among the other things. It’s quite good - different than what we normally drink, but interesting. Too sugary for me, though…I prefer my sucrose and fructose to be converted into ethanol!
@mike808 So, if someone, somehow, could make a (non-alcoholic) grape juice that tasted exactly like the best bottle of wine you ever had, how much would you pay for it?
I will note that it appears that there is Parker Station wine available in Retail online that’s not on the Fess Parker site, so a “closeout” of Parker Station is not beyond the realm of possibility.
While I enjoy the sfkaww favorites (Wellington, SH, IH, TO) I would prefer a new boutique winery offering to somehow signak a return to the old sfkaww. Three offerings per week may alllow for this. Some suggestions include: Dragonnette, Tercero, Kaena, Core, Michael Gill, Lone Madrone, Dutcher Crossing, Woodenhead, PWR, Carol Shelton, Papapietro, Fritz, Robledo, Navarro, joseph swan, porter creek, coffaro, and so on.
@losthighwayz Robledo makes some great wines. Been to their tasting room in Lake County several times (oh and they serve up fantastic Mexican food during their tasting events!).
@ScottW58 While there are others, those would be the ‘big four’ well respected houses I can think of, but would include Clark as well. Peters license list is likely becoming trimmed down substantially. So I wouldn’t bet against a WineSmith or rebranded WootCellars bottle. A bubbly to celebrate would work as well; IH, Gruet?
Iron Horse! Bubbly to celebrate the new venture.
Moscato! I’m not mentioning it because I’d buy a case of Moscato or anything silly like that…
I’m hoping beyond hope that Wellington is still stashed away somewhere. Would really like to lay in some more Syrah and Cab. Would like to get a Pinot Noir too if he ever made any.
@jbartus The only PN I recall him making was the wootcellars D’ontspille le Black. Which was excellent BTW.
@CorTot It was excellent, but Peter also said that his assistant had a lot to do with making it.
@NightGhost Yup…and then he had his own winery next door for a while, iirc.

@chipgreen Yes.
I saw El Jefe stop by already. Maybe twisted oak?
We are low on IH, I’ll vote for that as well!
Twisted Oak would be a nice opener!
On second thought, maybe something from Clark or Mike…
Either way, I’m pumped!
Something I’ve still not had, a traminette, tho I’ll acknowledge that Indiana and Ohio are not places that normally come to mind as wine states.
@baqui63 Come to the fingerlakes, I know of a few wineries that have very wide range of traminette wines
@tiger7610 Yeah, I’ll probably be back up that way later this year. Going to try and get some winery visits in this time.
Been pondering this list, I should add that a Kent Rasmussen Petit Sirah would be splendid!
@vaaccess
@vaaccess We have not seen KR in a LONG time
I would love some Little Vineyards or GunBun! Whatever the first is I am sure it will be awesome!
@jenludwig I haven’t had a GunBun in a LONG time … that would nice to see!
Probably something available at scale for the case splitting aspect, plus gotta be of wide appeal. Maybe something like the Buena Vista Zin that was on ww a while back.
How about something NEW and interesting??
@noshipsummer No! they cant offer anything interesting until at least May. At which you stop buying. I need to drink down a bit.
Can’t we keep it dull and boring for a while so that some of us can save our money and create some space for a while?
@klezman do you mean like the ‘virgin wine’ being offered at the old new W.W today?
@mike808 very spendy virgin wine too.
@mike808 I’ve actually gone to Navarro and tried that among the other things. It’s quite good - different than what we normally drink, but interesting. Too sugary for me, though…I prefer my sucrose and fructose to be converted into ethanol!
@klezman Damn. I’m in for a case, then.
Not even one day into the SIWBM! From now on, my next New Year’s Resolution will be to stop making New Year’s Resolutions.
@mike808 So, if someone, somehow, could make a (non-alcoholic) grape juice that tasted exactly like the best bottle of wine you ever had, how much would you pay for it?
@mike808 SIWBM — man I love (and had forgotten about) that acronym!

Found a proper Boone’s Farm review.

@duodec Oh my… does that bring back bad memories from 1975!
I will note that it appears that there is Parker Station wine available in Retail online that’s not on the Fess Parker site, so a “closeout” of Parker Station is not beyond the realm of possibility.
When will be the first offer?
I’m hoping for a good Iron Horse at sometime as well. I’d better open a bottle tonight to start making room.
How about some Cab Franc from Achaval-Ferrer?
I’d be ironic if it was something from St. Supéry.
@markgm I meant ‘it would be’ (it’d), not I’d. Back to your regularly scheduled program.
@markgm It’d be ironic if you did mean I’d.
@markgm not returning my call…
@Winedavid49 Yet they treated us well on tour, and we did purchase… I’m still in their club.
Let’s go big and open with Corison
@spd_rcr_05 You must have missed the WCE (Wallet-Clearing Event) on Christmas day back on WW.
@mike808 I live in Virginia … we haven’t had a WW offer available to us for years
@mike808 I missed the Corison event and am still upset about it!
@spd_rcr_05 I mean, if you want to test the concept of splitting cases, there’s no better way to do so then when they run >$1K each!
I’d like some Ty Caton table wine. Running low.
Or maybe some non-West coast wineries/varietals we know WD has been holding out on for the launch.
Re-labed Woot Wines…
@Thunderbums TT?
@rjquillin
Over here, @TT is “@del”.
@Thunderbums
Moar of Peter W’s Woot Cellars D’Ontspille Le Black? Yes, please.
@Thunderbums Goat Prize?
@mike808 if I understood correctly that’s the Pinot Noir right? I’d be in for at least a case.
@jbartus Yes. Most delicious.
@mike808 D’Ontspille made a great gift…until I opened up a bottle myself and hoarded the rest.

@losthighwayz
?
@f00l
SFKAWW = Site Formerly Known As Wine.Woot.
@losthighwayz Navarro makes good juice, pun intended, and we now know WD knows them.
@losthighwayz Robledo makes some great wines. Been to their tasting room in Lake County several times (oh and they serve up fantastic Mexican food during their tasting events!).
@bsevern Mex and wine, perhaps not quite as difficult to pair as asparagus and wine.
@losthighwayz Have purchased Tercero, Core and Woodenhead from wine.woot in the past, just sayin’
@losthighwayz Porter Creek = Yum!
@losthighwayz Teldeschi, anyone? Though I honestly don’t know if he even makes enough to fulfill the volume a place like this might generate.
I’m really loving iOTA Cellars right now in Willamette Valley!
@sdilullo Yes, Teldeschi. So much deliciousness. If we could get Siduri here we’ve got both ends of the spectrum covered as well.
One question…what the hell does this mean? “signak a return to the old sfkaww”
@ScottW58 I have no idear.
@ScottW58 +1
@ScottW58 I’ve followed WW for years and don’t have a clue. Maybe it’s a meh thing.
@ScottW58
SFKAWW = Site Formerly Known As Wine.Woot.
@mike808
O.K then how about “signak” ??
@ScottW58 lool at your leyboard.
@mike808 lolololol… or should I say kokokokok?
Something called “Re-nfrescante”
Not Malbec.
Some nice bubbly to christen the new site!
What does “alllow” mean?
On a serious note, you should know by now i am too lazy to correct spelling errors…
@losthighwayz
That does not bode well for the future of our children! You are a teacher you kinow
@ScottW58 Principal even…
Youre a smart cat. Scott? Meh.
Ok, i am rplying to a specific commnet (see my two previous replies) but replies are showing under thread that was started by Scott W. wth?
@losthighwayz There’s a cool reply arrow under every comment. Play it again Sam!
Just from what I know about WW you have 4 choices…Wellington, Scott Harvey, Iron Horse and Pedroncelli. Anyone want to bet me
@ScottW58 While there are others, those would be the ‘big four’ well respected houses I can think of, but would include Clark as well. Peters license list is likely becoming trimmed down substantially. So I wouldn’t bet against a WineSmith or rebranded WootCellars bottle. A bubbly to celebrate would work as well; IH, Gruet?
Please, not something from Precept or AH Wines.
@ScottW58 Not taking that bet! Although, I’m happy if it takes a while for the offers to get interesting. There’s too much wine on my floor!
Whatever the wine, they need to be able to ship to VA.
@hershelk I concur!!!
I need some more Big Nuts in my life, so let’s go with Vino Noceto.
@bhodilee so I’m reading you like to buy big nuts to put in your mouth?! Sound right.
@CorTot yes, and swish it about a bit, but never spit.
Yes. Sangiovese rules, Cabernet and Zinfandel drools.
Sangiovese is the mother pucker of grapes.
Chehalem Three Vineyard Riesling. Deal with it.
Iron Horse! What better way to start a new venture!
Wellington or Gun Bun would be awesome, but I’m thinking something sparkling is in order to celebrate this momentous launch!
The first offering should be auspicious…whatever it is!
Cheers to all!
