@radiolysis I feel so helpless. The drugs the vet gives don’t work. They just make it worse, doped up and still afraid. Benadryl takes the edge off, but nothing is full proof. I go to the couch, distract them as much as I can, and eventually fall asleep.
Voted meh, or all of the above, as I think your feeling towards them changes given the circumstances.
I’m an old fart now, find them a bit annoying, but am also aware of that, and wouldn’t want to curtail what enjoyment others might get from them.
For people with pets, or those that just got junior to sleep, they are a problem, but given that it’s only one day a year, it’s not an insurmountable one. It’s kind of like hearing neighbors arguing, it’s not often, and I can always move if it becomes a chronic one.
Hate the noise and what it does to my dogs, let alone all the other wildlife. I want the noiseless, no fire danger, ones.
@danandlisa our first year with a dog and he’s liking none of it.

@danandlisa we’re on the strong meds from the vet and he’s able to rest. Earlier before it kicked in he was a mess so I know the feeling. It sucks.

Well our dog made it through the night but it was a pain in the ass!
@ScottW58 More than you know.
I love seeing them but would prefer that people leave it to the professionals, especially since fire danger tends to be high around here.
