UPS
1Who would I contact to recommend they switch from UPS to FX to ship their wine? I forgot that my package will require an adult signature and sent it to my home. There’s nobody there when they’re due to deliver. I checked into rerouting, but that costs $6. And they apparently won’t even do that for alcohol. So I called to ask about picking up from the hub. They don’t do that, either. Only option is to pay $12 to have them come at a set time. Yeah, no.
FX has allowed rerouting to a nearby FXO for free for at least 20 years. They also will automatically reroute to a FXO after three attempts to deliver at the given address. UPS will send it back to Casemates if nobody’s home for any of the three attempts.
Seems to me that FX has far better customer-oriented service than UPS does when it comes to delivering alcohol.

Couldn’t agree more about UPS being crap from a consumer standpoint. Previous pleas to switch back to FedEx or at least offer a choice, as many online wine sellers do, have fallen on deaf ears.
UPS will redirect alcohol, however. Yes, there is a $6 fee or you can sign up for a year-long subscription for around $20.
I am subscribed but still have issues trying to get my deliveries. They cut out some of the third party retailers who would hold packages which severely limits my ability to redirect to a convenient location and I have had zero luck when I choose a UPS Store as a redirect location. They either refuse the package (with false tracking that says “business closed or customer not available”) or they want an additional fee to release the package. Even though I have already paid UPS for the ability to redirect!
Finally, I will mention that they used to not allow a redirect until at least one failed delivery attempt. They did that to me when I knew I would be out of town and worse, they would not redirect without a door tag #. The tracking # wasn’t good enough. That package was returned since I had no access to the door tag. I believe they now allow redirect before a delivery attempt, so at least there is that, despite far fewer redirect location choices.

I’ll call myself lucky, as I use a local UPS franchise location for my default ship-to address.
I guess a few bottles goes a long way to no additional charges, and I’m not a paying UPS customer.
I pay the $20 because I get way too many wine shipments and I don’t want to play the guessing/waiting game as to when it’ll be delivered. I haven’t had any issues in the three years I’ve use the service. The wine is always waiting for pickup at my local UPS store. Of course, if you don’t have one, then that is a different issue.
