For the second time in a week, UPS in unwilling (unable?) to deliver my case because WCC neglected to include my suite number on the shipping label. Why…?
@Winedavid49 Still no info from WCC about why they REMOVED my suite number when addressing my shipments. I am leaving for vacation in 3 days and my have confidence that the case will arrive before then is quickly dissipating.
WD, while you’re at it, can you provide some insights how the numeric part of my shipping address was removed from that recent shipment where I posted pics (down thread) of the shipping labels?
UPS has their own issues/problems, but an incomplete/incorrect address sure makes their job even more difficult, and there now seem to have been at least a couple instances where shipping software exhibited some glitch.
I hope you understand he thread post absolutely wasn’t intended as a pile-on, but rather to help you become aware this doesn’t seem to be just a one-off issue that you may not even know exists, and provide some detail…
@rjquillin@Zortapa OK, dug on this and we know what happenned. there was a change in how WCC receives data and our short term mapping did not capture the 2nd address field on some orders. fixed now. very sorry for the hassle. we are addressing this issue on a case by case basis.
@rjquillin@Winedavid49 Info much appreciated. That agrees with my experience. The 2nd field disappeared between my orders with the shipping label created on 7/23 (included 2nd field) and 7/28 (excluded 2nd field).
I, actually, expect to–for the first time ever–request a refund for my cooked wine. My heat index is 101. The package has been out all day on the truck. If that bottle registers 85* plus on the infrared, then maybe summer shipping shouldn’t happen. I miss the refrigerated trucks and local drop offs.
@KNmeh7 I hope that doesn’t happen! Mine was delivered here (also in 100-degree heat index-land) around mid-day. The box was warm outside, but the bottles inside the foam are fine. Fingers crossed yours are similar.
Similar issue as those above. Despite placing many orders successfully shipped directly to a UPS Access Point, for some unknown reason UPS is claiming there was an unidentifiable address on this shipment.
First I was told it was “refused” by the UPS store, and after nearly 30 minutes navigating my way to a supervisor the story changed to the address was undeliverable and they “allowed” me to update it to the correct one (that many shipments have gone to) that’s been used int he past.
So, it’s been riding around in a truck all day today, with temps in the mid to upper 30’s, or ~97F if you prefer, and will return to the distribution center for another attempt tomorrow.
@kaolis@ScottW58
yeah yeah yeah,.
It has been stable with deliveries generally before 10:00, so I can’t fuss too much about that.
The irk here is why/how did the address get corrupted. Won’t know, but at least I think I’ll get a chance to see the label tomorrow when I pick it up, perhaps to even post an image and inquire a bit…
@kaolis@rjquillin@ScottW58 yea right. Two day straight from the source in styro is not crazy and a whole lot better then the archaic 3 tier gas and sip retail bull shit that most people buy from. Just sayin.
@kaolis@rjquillin@ScottW58@Winedavid49
But WD, Ron’s idiosyncratic issue aside, there have been some pretty substantial issues with UPS that don’t seem to be going away:
Unexplained “shipment delays” where they keep the boxes in the system an extra day or two.
The obnoxious upcharge to send it to their own stores.
Terrible customer service overall. (Although I guess you’re their customer, not us.)
Inaccurate tracking information.
Drivers who “attempt delivery” yet miss the person who works 10 feet away from the front door.
And so on.
My suggestion, fwiw, is to harangue them from your end, even if for not other reason than their (lack of) service is costing you business.
Have an order scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (predicted 95 degrees) so had little choice but to have it redirected to the UPS store to avoid an extra half day in the back of the truck. Wish it were delayed by a day, as Friday is supposed to be a high of 81.
Since UPS I’ve had a single default ship to for delivery to a friendly privately owned Access Point UPS affiliated facility. I don’t pay any fees, but likely they come out ahead with sample bottles.
I checked my address as CM has it, and there is a numerical address as shown in the label below for a prior shipment.
The label for this shipment is a bit different; no numerical address.
Lacking that address, and a failure to call the number, UPS created three additional address labels below.
The first is at the top with some totally unknown address, the second after I finally reached a supervisor to give them the correct address, and the third I’m told is a label created by the driver when they scan the original label.
Dunno, but this one sure went off the rails with the missing numbers on the original label from WCC.
While that Vista Hills address does exist, clearly it isn’t a UPS store.
Temps were reasonable at pickup, but by then it had been sitting in an air conditioned building for about five hours.
Sure would like to know what the glitch was, and that it has or will be addressed so there isn’t a re-run in the future.
@rjquillin I’m spun up for you! There is a reason they ask for phone numbers, right? There are two phone numbers – and even if they don’t get the dotted notation, THE SHIPPER’S NUMBER IS THERE. wow.
@radiolysis@rjquillin@ttboy23 That is a crazy one for sure.
So UPS screwed up, but do you know why WCC didn’t have the proper address on the shipping label to begin with?
@kaolis@rjquillin@ttboy23 i did notice that WCC’s return address also changed between the two photos. New computer system spit out the wrong labels? Pure speculation…
Back when FedEx was used many people often complained, but I was (mostly) happy with the service.
Ever since the switch to UPS, it seems even MORE people have complained about the service (or lack thereof) and I think people have realized FedEx is by far the lesser of the two evils. I’d like to give UPS the benefit of the doubt and I know the pandemic has been hard on them, but issues like Ron experienced are a perfect example of UPS needing to step up their game as that could/should’ve been easily avoided.
This is probably OT, but in June 2020 UPS changed CEOs. The stock price had been stagnant for at least 6 years. The new CEO promised “better, not bigger” and among other changes, there followed buyouts, firings, facilities closures, and price increases. Since June 2020, the stock price has doubled, though it fell back a little recently. A change in leadership could not possibly affect the day-to-day operation of the company, could it?
Related but not UPS, this one is golden state overnight.
Ordered from last bottle 2 weeks ago.
They quickly and Unexpectedly shipped, but I was going away for the weekend so I needed to change delivery date, totally free by the way. Not the BS that UPS try’s to pull.
The weekend hold I assumed would be worst case sitting in the back of a truck. And spoiled so I was prepared to deal with that. Instead they missed the delivery date I waited another couple of days to call and nothing.
Finally I call and it’s lost. They can’t find it, tracking is very unhelpful.
Ended up with a refund from last bottle.
Weird stuff! But actually best case scenario for me as I was willing to bet the wine was spoiled from an over the weekend hold in a hot truck.
@CorTot@klezman
Interesting you find the tracking lacking.
I’ll use them whenever I can had only once I can recall did I have an issue, so I’ve really not needed the tracking, that could be bad, but delivery has been nearly spot-on.
Hi @Zortapa - Please write into casemates.com/support so we can look into this for you. Ask for me and I’ll get this looked at for you.
Done
@Zortapa yea, we’ll look into it!

@Zortapa nudging on my end. thanks for your patience.

Thanks WD; you can’t ‘address’ an issue if you don’t know it exists.

@InFrom @KNmeh7 Yeah, the bottom of my box was hot, the bottles were not cool but seem ok.

@rjquillin
You know and accept the risks so quit bitch’n
@rjquillin @ScottW58 Correct, shipping any wine this time of year is absurd. y’all deserve what ya get…ha!!

yeah yeah yeah,.

@kaolis @klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58 good input. i’ll take from here.

@radiolysis @rjquillin oh heck no, make a call? Solve the mystery? No way. Who dials the phone anymore
@radiolysis @rjquillin @ttboy23 That is a crazy one for sure.

@davirom You’re not blaming Wall Street are you? No they sucked long before 2020 ha
I think it was just so damned hot out the ink disappeared
@kaolis lol, that’s perfect.

@CorTot Yeah, GSO/GLS tracking is nearly useless.
@CorTot @klezman

I agree the GSO tracking kind of sucks but when they tell you it’s coming the next day it has never failed, just be ready.
