Starting this month by trying out the newest and trendiest pizza on the west side - Pizzeria Sei
Going to have that with 2014 Scott Harvey Zinfandel Vineyard 1869 @WineDavid49 you need to get Scott to put these up for $30/bottle again! That would get me out of my WBM.
@winedavid49
remember this one from almost exactly 11 years ago?
Still going strong, but this was my last bottle, and I think I liked it the best. Last bottle opened was three years ago.
Peach, cherry, basil, mint and burrata salad with mint and basil balsamic evoo. Okay I was wrong reverse sear and 45 seconds per side in a carbon steel pan
@klezman@ScottW58 There is “technically “ green stuff, lol. If I made this salad, there would be more fruit and green and less “cheese”. I love cheese, but I love fruit and green stuff more.
@danandlisa@klezman
Less cheese!?!? You are flirting with words from the devil actually plenty of cherry and peach you just can’t see them under the cheese
When having beer, I almost exclusively drink dark beer. However, the weather is beautiful here today and this one from Toppling Goliath is pretty tasty and refreshing.
Someone reminded me it’s August not July. And I’m ok with that. So in the spirit of the not so new month @kawichris650 this was kind of tasty this afternoon
@kaolis
It was gone before it dropped 5 degrees oh and Guisados tacos best tacos outside of some great street tacos down in Mexico imho! Andrea and I were like hungry dogs!
@ScottW58 They need lettuce or cabbage and fried for me to like them. No matter how I try, I don’t like the texture of fresh corn tortillas, not even in Mexico. It is a texture thing.
2006 Don Melchor, Vintage 20, Alta Puente Cabernet.
A little bit of Cabernet Franc thrown in.
Ya know…people who haven’t overdone the whole wine buying, wine cellar thing don’t get to drink 2006 cabernets. And this one is really good!
@kaolis
Tough call for me. I liked it, but it didn’t knock my socks off. It’s got some dark fruit, definite earthy notes, and a solid acid backbone. I should have really liked it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood?
@kaolis@karenhynes That’s such an incisive comment. I wonder how much of our love of a given wine is due to our current positive emotional experience (a celebration, social event, etc). On the flip side, will a wine truly shine for us when we’re exhausted, upset, or frustrated? I’ve often dismissed musical pairings, but I may need to rethink that. It may be music or watching a beautiful sunset- it’s about getting to that emotional place where you can fully appreciate the wine.
@klezman@ScottW58 Hanger from Mr. Flannery on fine Corelle. Hatch chile tortilla. Wine was quite good, aging nicely, no hurry to get after it. Bought two on release, this was my first bottle. And no, you won’t mistake it for Burgundy
They don’t do the Blue Slide anymore, or the Three Sisters for that matter, only Estate.
@klezman
We went to the tasting in fact more tastings than we would have liked in a year let alone 5 days but we were invited and they did all the planning and scheduling so we had to be polite (yeah I know not like me). It was a nice tasting and fun to walk the vineyard and taste the fruit they will be picking this week. I had no plans to buy anything because I have already bought the current release but the wines they let us taste were only sold at the winery, very tricky! Sadly they were good so we bought some.
@chefjess delicious. This particular recipe, though, is also trying to resurrect the flavour of a childhood restaurant that no longer exists. So “delicious” is only part of it. This one was close to a match. It wasn’t as isn’t as the sauce should be but the flavour was close.
2020 Rus Jimenez (Mary Taylor) Manchuela Moravia Agria - new region and varietal for me. Nice earthy red - part of the monthly wine club from a local wine store (3 bottles for $50) - will pick up some more next month. Served with filet mignon, wasabi mashed potatoes and green stuff!
@klezman
Yes it is delicious even now! Nope did not buy any of those, was thinking to join the Montebello futures club but they put you on a wait list and you have to buy 3 other bottles until you make the list. Too old for that I have some bottles and if I need more I will buy from the secondary market for less of a commitment.
@ScottW58 I kind of wish I’d splurged when I lived in the Bay area and joined back then. Before the prices went nuts. Back then I thought around $100 for a bottle was beyond reasonable. Oops.
@pseudogourmet98
The Ritz was one of those things you find in the cupboard or refrigerator that has been lost for years and I’m too lazy to frame the picture properly.
Got back from a trip up to central Oregon. We did go crabbing in Florence and caught one (had to supplement with some purchased crabs for dinner)… Paired well with a 2021 Abacela Alberino.
We did have some time to get to the King Estate tasting room which was enjoyable and scenic.
On the way back stopped off in Santa Rosa for a few nights and hit up Korbel only. It was a family trip with the dog, so their deli was a hit. I wish we had more time to get to tasting rooms, but time was short and we had a schedule to keep.
Other bottles of note on the trip:
2017 tercero Mourvedre Rose, magnum
2014 Antoine Bouvet non-dosage Champagne RM
2019 Love + Terrior Syrah, John Sebastiano Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills
@pjmartin The last glass after two days stoppered, is better than when I popped this. Gained weight, the acids have settled down and the aromas are improved (more aroma.)
Well after the last day of shooting, on my very last show breaking out an old sentimental favorite to celebrate nothing fancy I still have 6 weeks of wrap.
@rjquillin
Golf/travel/hanging out/bothering the kids/shit ton of stuff to do on the house/etc etc oh and never dealing with a bunch of dicks anymore unless I want to
@kaolis
Discovered them from the old wine library board, couldn’t find them for years then this popped up on wine. Com with a coupon bought as many as I could. I still love them
@rc70
How is the Second Fiddle holding up? We got a chance to attend a Kathy Joseph (Fiddlehead) wine dinner ~5 years ago and shared a bottle of Second Fiddle with her after the dinner. Surprisingly, she had never tried it. You would think Clark would have given her a bottle or twelve!
@rjquillin@ScottW58 Cryptic, not hardly. You said you wanted something more, you posted a nice pic showing you found something more (an understatement?), Ron asked where you bought it. (Nothing more.)
@InFrom@rjquillin
Where I bought it? I took WB as either Warner bros where I work or wine berserkers. So I was not thinking where did I buy it like I said I’m a simple man! Bought this from Lopa I’m going to bed
@chefjess@ScottW58 So who’s on first? ha! Never had a bottle, bought the '95, '96, '98, '00, '04 from a WB (don’t think it was Warner Bros) offer, need to pull a cork…
@ScottW58 I’m glad you got the joke.
In all seriousness he did order that from Twoies in San Gabriel on Sundays for lunch almost weekly. If he were alive he would be 115 years old though. You got a ways to go.
@klezman@ScottW58 The snausages can be tasty…but Chicago and Wisconsin may beat him out…South Carolina doesn’t know what a good sausage is…reloaded some hanger today with my first go 'round of lamb riblets
@kaolis@klezman
Pretty sure I’m January we are headed to Charleston to drop off 4 cases of wine to my sister in law because it needs to be out of my house! You might have to give me the 411 on restaurants. Of course if you’re around we could pop some bottles
@rjquillin I’ve tried 4 now and some are really pretty good. The best so far is the Russian river estate Pinot and worst is one of the zins, Algeria vineyard I think.
BYOB Sushi extravaganza with my brother in town from PDX. @karenhynes And it was a 2 bottle night! Started with Louis Roederer 242, followed by a 2017 Iron Horse Pinot, Winery block.
A perfect afternoon for the symphony’s closing concert of the summer season. The bubbles, a Rose of Cab Franc from the Loire, were pretty darn good with store-bought fried chicken. The Beethoven and Ives were sublime.
Finally getting around to posting our wine dinner from last week. My LW and I decided to splurge. She has been working for several caterers and chefs the last few years as a side hustle and decided that she wanted to hire a personal chef to prepare dinner for us and some close friends at our home. I will let screen grabs from the Chef herself describe the dinner courses…
Decided it was time to break out some of the large format wines we’ve been saving for a special occasion, realizing it doesn’t get much more special than this!
1999 Dom Perignon 1.5L with ginger snaps and charcuterie.
2013 Blackbird “Arriviste” Rose 1.5L w/ the salad and sorbet.
2014 Robert Craig “Affinity” Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L with Filet medallions wrapped in Wagyu beef bacon and white truffle buttermilk mashers with fire roasted asparagus.
2006 Scott Harvey “Forte” 500ml w/ flourless chocolate cake, sugared strawberries and Basil Vanilla ice cream with edible gold flakes.
Additionally, after dinner we killed off a bottle of 1999 Wellington 100 Year Old Vines Zinfandel (surprisingly drinkable) and a 2017 Pedroncelli Rose while hanging out on the deck.
@rjquillin
Probably did not drink it at the ideal time as we were all deep in conversation and not being especially mindful of the wine as we consumed it. That said, the cork came out intact with a regular waiter’s corkscrew. There were no real signs of oxidation on the nose or palate but there was some visible bricking.
The wine was quite tart and very slightly acetic but still had some red fruit flavors. Used the trusty mesh pour filter as there was quite a bit of sediment. Enough sediment that I believe much of the silt-like stuff got through the filter and caused the tartness that I experienced.
@CorTot@ScottW58
Tannat had a ton of fruit @PnP, and some stuffing to go with it. Will likely be trying again tonight, if I ever get out of work…
The Neb I didn’t care for @PnP. Younger and not a lot there. I had a bit more yesterday and it had, for me, improved considerably. Need another pour for details.
@klezman Just a nice hot cast iron pan and a tad of oil and basically just roll/turn the pieces of tuna for a second or so all sides and that’s it. And bring the tuna to room temp before you sear. It helps when you get small nice elongated pieces. These are fresh daily from a Japanese market that unfortunately I don’t live near anymore.
Is it Wednesday yet?
@kawichris650 I whole heartedly agree. Can we fast forward this sucka!
Starting this month by trying out the newest and trendiest pizza on the west side - Pizzeria Sei
Going to have that with 2014 Scott Harvey Zinfandel Vineyard 1869
@WineDavid49 you need to get Scott to put these up for $30/bottle again! That would get me out of my WBM.
@klezman good call. i’ll inquire.
@winedavid49
remember this one from almost exactly 11 years ago?
Still going strong, but this was my last bottle, and I think I liked it the best. Last bottle opened was three years ago.
2009 Twenty Rows Sauvignon Blanc
@rjquillin wow, nice! that is a nice throwback!
Peach, cherry, basil, mint and burrata salad with mint and basil balsamic evoo. Okay I was wrong reverse sear and 45 seconds per side in a carbon steel pan
@ScottW58 nice steak! Morgan ranch?
Nice way of getting your “salad”, too, with fruit and cheese and nary a vegetable!
@klezman @ScottW58 There is “technically “ green stuff, lol. If I made this salad, there would be more fruit and green and less “cheese”. I love cheese, but I love fruit and green stuff more.
@danandlisa @klezman
Less cheese!?!? You are flirting with words from the devil actually plenty of cherry and peach you just can’t see them under the cheese
@klezman
Flannery bone in and no bone ribeye, salad killed it!
Refreshing on a hot day
@chefjess
Nice I liked that wine.
@ScottW58
Me too. I’ve been trying several smaller/random growers lately so it was nice to come back to a bottle that I already know and enjoy.
Finishing off this Wellington, which is kind of fitting due to the current offer.
2013 Wellington Vineyards Zinfandel Meeks Hilltop Ranch
and good stuff from Nola…
When having beer, I almost exclusively drink dark beer. However, the weather is beautiful here today and this one from Toppling Goliath is pretty tasty and refreshing.
National white wine day
Keeping with the theme.
Green stuff and crab cakes.
@ScottW58
I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve had from Vilmart. I’ve not tried this one yet. How was it?
@chefjess
It’s great! Top to bottom Vilmart is one of my favorites.
@karenhynes
2 bottles a night you’re my kind of girl!
@CorTot just saw that at GO. Any good?
@rjquillin it was decent. Thought it needed time, I’ll check back in tomorrow.
2020 Kelley Fox Willamette Blanc “phoenix”
Wow… I just lapped the field! 2017 Scott Harvey Barbera mtn with an Italian potpourri: eggplant parmigiana, meatball parm, and calzone.
Someone reminded me it’s August not July. And I’m ok with that. So in the spirit of the not so new month
@kawichris650 this was kind of tasty this afternoon
2018 Coterie Cellars Hartmann Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains
Great but on berserker newbie day.
It’s only a friggin 100 degrees so tacos and bubbles.
Only 100? better get that bottle back in the fridge pronto!
@ScottW58 It was 102 in Portland, but a lovely foggy day here, High temperature of 60. It was lovely.
@kaolis
It was gone before it dropped 5 degrees oh and Guisados tacos best tacos outside of some great street tacos down in Mexico imho! Andrea and I were like hungry dogs!
@danandlisa
Why do you hate me, well I can think of a number of reasons but really
@ScottW58 We don’t hate you. We just want you to make the jump here.
@kaolis @ScottW58 those tacos look delicious!
@ScottW58 They need lettuce or cabbage and fried for me to like them. No matter how I try, I don’t like the texture of fresh corn tortillas, not even in Mexico. It is a texture thing.
Making Hatch pepper chili verde.
Pre/post-dinner: 2012 Denier-Handal Zinfandel
With dinner: 2017 Fromm Riesling Spätlese
@klezman I do love 2017 Fromm Riesling Spätlese! Will have it in this month
@klezman Yum. Did a green chili stew a bit ago that rocked.
Now I’m lapping everybody!
2013 Two Jakes of Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
First couple sips are excellent but this will need to open up.
OG N.25
Happy WW! This is drinking beautifully.
@kawichris650
I see what you did to get that blue sky effect
At Lake Erie
2006 Don Melchor, Vintage 20, Alta Puente Cabernet.
A little bit of Cabernet Franc thrown in.
Ya know…people who haven’t overdone the whole wine buying, wine cellar thing don’t get to drink 2006 cabernets. And this one is really good!
Got lucky a friend invited us to a house on a vineyard in Anderson valley so burgers and Saunter, I dig this wine
@ScottW58 Roughing it…
Ha! Yeah much like you living on the lake
Thursday or Friday will work
@karenhynes How’s that Sandler? I have trouble hanging on to them.
@kaolis
Tough call for me. I liked it, but it didn’t knock my socks off. It’s got some dark fruit, definite earthy notes, and a solid acid backbone. I should have really liked it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood?
@kaolis @karenhynes Not the right music?
@kaolis @klezman
Entirely possible!
@karenhynes @klezman Could have been the tunes…but I drink the pinot young and they never make it to year 8
@kaolis @karenhynes That’s such an incisive comment.
@kaolis never had any of their wines. How is it?
And are those duck tacos?
@kaolis @klezman
Gotta be hanger tacos? And dig the plates
@klezman @ScottW58 Hanger from Mr.
@kaolis @klezman
That’s a cool bottle! Never seen one that old. And glad to hear it’s a California wine it should taste like California
Just in case you’re not sure what to drink today, it’s National Prosecco Day!
Earthquake Zinfandel.
Back home and time to try some of the damned wines I bought
@ScottW58 How was that visit? And you bought wines from tasting rooms without trying them? Or did you just not bother going tasting?
@klezman
@ScottW58 poor you
@klezman
Lol right?
Made some home-pickled chilis so that I could make Yu Xiang. So that’s happening tonight.
https://blog.themalamarket.com/chengdu-challenge-25-yu-xiang-pork-yu-xiang-rou-si/
And what doesn’t go well with bubbly?
2008 Chassenay d’Arce Champagne Brut Millésimé
@klezman
Yum. How did it turn out? How were the bubbles? Haven’t tried that producer.
@chefjess delicious. This particular recipe, though, is also trying to resurrect the flavour of a childhood restaurant that no longer exists. So “delicious” is only part of it. This one was close to a match. It wasn’t as isn’t as the sauce should be but the flavour was close.
@chefjess @klezman I think it was about 90 minutes ago I saw this post, and since then I’ve been down a Szechuan rabbit hole.
@chefjess @InFrom and a delicious rabbit hole it is!
I make my own chili oil with their ground chili. Lots of red oil dumplings in my house, too.
Gotta say I miss/dig hanging meat in the pit barrel with leftover wine from last night.
@ScottW58
Yummmmmm!
It’s just so f’ing hot every day so watermelon salad and maybe some leftover ribs.
@ScottW58 how’s that bubbly?! Looks really interesting. Envoyer?
@klezman
I thought it was quite nice on a hot day just what the doctor ordered, even better Andrea loved it woodland hills.
2018 Genache
@msten like the name, how’s the juice? BD?
@rjquillin yes, bd parcel. Enjoyed each bottle. Will buy again.
DeNegoce N. 276 Napa sparkling rosė, “Methode Champenois.”
@hscottk
Good? I was tempted
@hscottk @ScottW58
Inquiring minds want to know…. I bought a 6-pack, but haven’t opened any yet.
@chefjess @ScottW58 It’s legit and surprisingly youthful for a 2013. I think holding is a good idea at this point. I just need to follow my own advice.
Making sure these things taste as good at home as they did at the winery
@ScottW58 Those are always good. But damn that’s young! Did you buy any of the big boy?
@klezman
Oops.
@klezman
Heh a $100 $150 for a world class bottle of wine is well in the eye of the beholder, you know where I stand
@ScottW58 yes. But I was also in grad school at the time and a $25 bottle felt like a special occasion wine! If I could go back…
Wellington Wednesday with rotisserie chicken, corn on the cob, herbed rice and dinner salad.
@chipgreen
One of my favorites
@chipgreen
And all of your food is one of my favorites too
@rjquillin
Mine too. Sad that VJB tore out all those gnarly old vines.
Happy Wednesday everyone!
@rc70 I remember really enjoying the ‘10 HD cabs.
@hscottk @rc70
Especially when paired with some NutraThrive. Woof!
@chipgreen @hscottk
That Nutra Thrive just gives it that little extra boost
Lots of great looking Wellington tonight!
Whipped up some fried chicken and pesto (pistachio) lots of green stuff in pesto
@ScottW58
Nice! Can’t think of a better wine pairing for fried chicken than bubbles!
Do you put the Ritz in your dredge, or was that part of the appetizer course?
@pseudogourmet98
Rita Hills
The last one of the 6 bottle vertical, the 2010. Only one bottle was not delicious. Need more deals like this one @winedavid49
@pjmartin Enjoyed the '12 and '14. Still have a bottle or three.
@ScottW58 and then what…
@rjquillin
Golf/travel/hanging out/bothering the kids/shit ton of stuff to do on the house/etc etc oh and never dealing with a bunch of dicks anymore unless I want to
@ScottW58
congrats!!
@rjquillin @ScottW58 Welcome to the club. You will wonder how you ever had time for a job.
@chefjess
Thanks!
@InFrom @rjquillin
Yes I can see that coming
Interesting, had to look that up. Morisfarms rings a bell though. Cheers
@kaolis
Discovered them from the old wine library board, couldn’t find them for years then this popped up on wine. Com with a coupon bought as many as I could. I still love them
@kaolis
Well done! I mean medium rare
More growers this last week, some not worth mentioning, but this was lovely.
Last night was a beer flight with a fun Izakaya
@karenhynes
Livin’ large, another 2-bottle night!
@karenhynes
Hmmm Selyem you are a women of class and taste ymmv of course!
@rjquillin Gotta do something to try to reduce the stash!
@ScottW58 You know I love my Selyem Pinots!
@karenhynes @ScottW58 I opened one of the 2013 Two Jakes CS last night as well.
I just couldn’t decide tonight
@ScottW58
Had the Whistling Ridge Blanc last week. Delicious.
Nepenthe - Rhythmic Gymnastics Sour @ Max’s
Nettare di Bacco -Honey Wine Sdromele
2020 Campesino Isa rosė. Lovely.
@hscottk
Agreed. Grabbed a few bottles for the concert in the park last Sat. Enjoyed by all.
2018 Fritz Pinot Noir…worth the price of admission from a site that shall not be mentioned…
and as always I struggle with presentation…
@kaolis Those do look inviting
de Négoce Lot 25
It’s been 11 days now, this is a nice bottle given some time.
@rc70
@chipgreen
Still drinking well, unfortunately my last bottle.
Raspberry, earthy with a little spice.
@chipgreen @rjquillin
So that’s a snarky 5 years ago?
Lovely on day 3. Needs lots of air.
@chefjess one of my few wine regrets missing that.
2017 Iron Horse Vineyards Chardonnay Two Clones
Black Sablefish tacos
Birthday dinner for my niece last night. No wine.
Post dinner a dram of Johnny Black
WineSmith '21 Grenach Lot 1 SC Mountains 12.3%
tasty, but a bit light for the red meat sauce spaghetti.
@rjquillin from your harvest partner thing?
Flannerg burgers and was going to have a rose. Champagne but so many morons pissed me off at work today I wanted something more.
@ScottW58 looks like you found it. WB?
@rjquillin
?? What did I find?
@rjquillin @ScottW58 Something more.
@InFrom @rjquillin
Okay I guess I’m too tired figure it all out? I’m a simple man to cryptic for me
@rjquillin @ScottW58 Cryptic, not hardly. You said you wanted something more, you posted a nice pic showing you found something more (an understatement?), Ron asked where you bought it. (Nothing more.)
@InFrom @ScottW58
It must have been a very effective bottle as well!
Gotta be empty by now…
@InFrom @rjquillin
Where I bought it? I took WB as either Warner bros where I work or wine berserkers. So I was not thinking where did I buy it like I said I’m a simple man! Bought this from Lopa I’m going to bed
@InFrom @rjquillin
At 12.5 ABV not nearly enough!
@InFrom @ScottW58
And it’s only Monday
@InFrom @rjquillin @ScottW58 it’s that taste of impending freedom… Makes the fools even harder to suffer.
@ScottW58
My standing question each time you open another year. How was this one compared to the others? Which has been your favorite?
@chefjess
It was very good, not up to the level yet of the 98 or 2000.
@chefjess @ScottW58 So who’s on first? ha! Never had a bottle, bought the '95, '96, '98, '00, '04 from a WB (don’t think it was Warner Bros) offer, need to pull a cork…
@chefjess @kaolis
Lol yeah I bought a bunch from the same guy most likely, you should pop one or four
With fresh semolina pasta spicy truffle sauce. Squirrel with dessert.
@kaolis We all want to know your thoughts.
2013 Wellington Vineyards Zinfandel Meeks Hilltop Ranch
With some Flannery hangers and stuff
As it seems others have forgotten…
Went old school and made a crab Louie salad so good!
@ScottW58 my grandfathers favorite was a shrimp Louie salad.
@CorTot
Yeah I guess I’m old enough to be your grandfather
@ScottW58 I’m glad you got the joke.
In all seriousness he did order that from Twoies in San Gabriel on Sundays for lunch almost weekly. If he were alive he would be 115 years old though. You got a ways to go.
Going out on a limb here but the Flannery sausages are every bit as great as the steaks! Black olive/wine and hot Italian. Wine was fantastic too
@ScottW58 we really like the Sicilian sausage from them
@klezman @ScottW58 The snausages can be tasty…but Chicago and Wisconsin may beat him out…South Carolina doesn’t know what a good sausage is…reloaded some hanger today with my first go 'round of lamb riblets
@kaolis @klezman
Pretty sure I’m January we are headed to Charleston to drop off 4 cases of wine to my sister in law because it needs to be out of my house! You might have to give me the 411 on restaurants. Of course if you’re around we could pop some bottles
@klezman @ScottW58 Oh cool. Yeah let me know. Can do either/both if it works. We’re about 90 minutes south of Charleston.
@kaolis @klezman @ScottW58 FIG (food is good) gets a nod for Charleston dining. Ricotta gnocchi. Call soon for reservations.
@klezman @msten @ScottW58
A little soon for January FIG reservations, they take them 4 weeks ahead.
Just happened upon a stash of Wellington Victorys, 2008 - 2013. Can’t hardly wait 'til Wednesday.
@CorTot and…?
I am seeing these at the local GO, but haven’t, yet, been tempted.
@rjquillin I’ve tried 4 now and some are really pretty good. The best so far is the Russian river estate Pinot and worst is one of the zins, Algeria vineyard I think.
Popped open a 2011 Two Jakes Merlot.
@karenhynes That Bloody is a meal in itself! Nice lobstah roll.
@karenhynes
Hell yeah
Somebody had a bottle of generic 2018 California Cabernet at dinner tonight. Yuck. Apparently the guy at the LCBO said it was a good value wine.
Threw a butt in the smoker last night I will drink something
@ScottW58 Well that shouldn’t suck
@kaolis
Well shouldn’t suck is what I was going for
@kaolis @ScottW58 Sorry. “Try not to suck” was taken by Joe Maddon and the 2016 Cubs.
@Mark_L @ScottW58 My scoring has always been suck vs doesn’t suck. Plus I’m a Cardie fan and we generally score more than the Cubs who generally suck.
@kaolis @ScottW58 After moving to central Missouri, I dislike the Cards as much as when I lived in the Chicagoland area.
2017 Vina Cobos Bramare Lujan de Cuyo Malbec with a Morgan Ranch Wagyu
We’ve got some Morgans about to go on the grill as well with leftovers from a
'13 Wellington Meeks Zin
@rjquillin how do you get leftovers of that wine?!
@klezman
yeah, but not so difficult when only pouring for one glass.
@InFrom
Looks and sounds fantastic!
@chipgreen spectacular. Thanks for sharing pictures.
@chipgreen I believe this firmly hits the doesn’t suck column
@chipgreen
Bravo!
@chipgreen Must’ve been quite a fun night.
@chipgreen
Wow, absolutely stunning. Sounds like an incredible evening.
@chipgreen
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
@chipgreen nicely done! Everything looks delicious!
@chipgreen @klezman It all looks fabulous, and a great message to celebrate life in the now.
@chipgreen I think my invitation didn’t get delivered!
@chipgreen wow, nice spread. Can only imagine what you will serve us ‘mates next month!
@chipgreen CT has some unkind words on the '99.
How was your bottle, other than (surprisingly drinkable)?
@rjquillin
Some kind of butter lemon chicken in coconut milk, one pan dish I like that
Talking with @cortot while at a GO, decided to pickup some RockWall Reds for the exorbitantly high price of $13/btl.
2018 Rock Wall Wine Co. Tannat The Palindrome
2019 Rock Wall Wine Co. Nebbiolo Heringer
@rjquillin where these any good?
@CorTot @rjquillin
Ask him in a year or ten and he will be able to answer
@CorTot @ScottW58
@kaolis
Well shit tuna done right!
@kaolis @ScottW58 The only way I eat it. The rest goes to my three cats or the two dogs.
@kaolis how do you get such a nice sear?
@klezman Just a nice hot cast iron pan and a tad of oil and basically just roll/turn the pieces of tuna for a second or so all sides and that’s it. And bring the tuna to room temp before you sear. It helps when you get small nice elongated pieces. These are fresh daily from a Japanese market that unfortunately I don’t live near anymore.
It’s f’ing hot! Oh and the wine is very nice.
@ScottW58
Yeah, September is off to a hot start.
@kawichris650 @ScottW58 Sineann is a favorite. You just need to move up north, to Sineann territory.
@danandlisa @kawichris650
Well then I will pack some for next week!
