@karenhynes It is another good pinot from Stewart. The notes said it was a good pinot for the winter and I agree - nice fruit with a hint of spice (maybe cinnamon), Sorry you missed out.
@klezman
Not really a fair fight being that I’m a Kelley Fox homer and from different parts of the world but I will say the Bichot was slightly more complete but I loved both of them and add 4 years to the KF and watch out IMHO.
@ScottW58 I don’t think there’s ever a bone marrow on a menu that we wouldn’t be required to order…
I thought the miso topping was a bit too sweet but otherwise it was excellent. But I really don’t like mixing savoury things with sweet.
@kaolis
You need to rotate your phone so you’re holding it sideways. Then tap on the photo icon (circled in red) to upload and insert images into your post.
@jmdavidson1@rjquillin@ScottW58 I’ve had a bunch of those - mostly they’re great values and occasionally they’re excellent.
Too bad I didn’t pick up the Boca, though, if it’s that good!
I got the 2010 Barolo, not the Barbaresco, and it was excellent a few weeks ago. I bet the Barbaresco would be similarly good by now.
@jmdavidson1@klezman@rjquillin
You missed out for sure! I only bought it because the Vallana Boca’s are so good this one is at least as good if not better and I believe they will age for a long time
Every once in a while I think I’m smart and tonight was one of those nights had a couple of filets which are tender but not much flavor. So salt pepper and a bunch of ground garlic and smoked them at 200 for 90 minutes to 120 degrees seared them off and they are really good! With a funky wine great dinner.
2012 Maple Creek Chardonnay
w/ BLT sandwiches and steak fries
Edit: to note that I also snacked on a few Nilla Wafers with this wine after dinner and wow! I am adding them to my guilty pleasure pairing list alongside pop tarts and Oreos.

Italian night spaghetti with meatballs.
Leftover chicken leftover brisket green stuff Yorkshire pudding and aa 20 Orr Royal Slope that was just delivered after a long but fruitfull day of golf
@ScottW58 Better than serviceable, in a good spot in fact. You should put one in the queue. I think that was the first bottle I had in six years if CT is correct, which it never is. Probably 1/2 case left. Also on the tail end of some sort of non-Covid bug.
@kaolis@ScottW58 is it the same weird fluish thing everyone else is getting???
My 7 year old was down for 3-4 days with a stomach flu with a high fever. And we all already had the flu in December.
@kaolis We enjoyed it. It wasn’t transcendent but it was a very enjoyable bottle and continued to improve over the 2.5 hours or so it took us to drink it. I’m not sure it’s worth the $60+ SRP when there are lots of other good Sonoma Coast Pinots at $40.
@chipgreen
Don’t underestimate what I will do to try new food etc. I once drove 35 minutes out of our way north of Atlanta to try some hot boiled peanuts, the wife and kids were not happy they were just okay btw
@kaolis@ScottW58
I tried boiled peanuts once at a Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball game. It was suggested that we could eat the shells and all, so we did but I would never do it again! I could probably develop a taste for them without the shell but that experience pretty much ruined it for me.
@rjquillin The BD Black Cat is EMH, which has nice cabs. This Black Cat is a boutique winery in Napa. Exceptional wines. Inquiring drinkers shoukd check them out. Tell Tracy that I sent you.
Day two of the 2015 Quell pinot picked up here recently, not impressed but for $13 tis what it tis… and 2017 Peachy Canyon Westside Zinfandel which was an offer here and a wtso offer, holding up nicely and honestly not a bad Wednesday wine
@jmdavidson1 I let this decant for over an hour, i.e. the time it took to cook dinner. Aromas of cherry and oak (vanilla), along with similar tasting profiles, as well as some acidity. This paired well with the acidity of the tomato/zucchini dish, yet was light enough to be a nice red that paired with the fish. Make no mistake that this is a lower end amarone, so it is a week day drinker.
@danandlisa You know I noticed that you guys have had much more sun than we have down here we are looking forward to getting back up your way after the weddings!
@klezman
OMG I remember I bought a case of those from Costco for something like 9.99 a bottle, they were great and at $15 you still got a pretty great deal burned through those looong ago.
@kaolis You bet! 65 days this year. Little to no funk since I don’t have the microbial environment for it, but some oxidation of the fats and an intensely beefy flavour.
@rjquillin@ScottW58 Just a Saturday night, impetus was staring at wayyyyy too many cellar defenders I seem to have accumulated over the last year or so…
@kaolis@rjquillin
Ha! I figured that problem out, daughters wedding coming up so donated 70 bottles of daily drinkers that I don’t seem to want to drink. Quite liberating and 2 more weddings coming up
@kaolis@rjquillin@cortot
Well don’t buy too many daily drinkers or don’t start buying so many higher end wines cause at some point the daily drinkers are not very appealing. 5 kids during COVID?! Well I guess they had nothing better to do haha
@kaolis My research of 337 at Bell says you are correct
This was a wine club purchase “back in the day” when the price for this was reasonable. Today, not in my pay grade.
Some flannery burgers smoked mac and cheese a tribute to grace and a burg with my future son in law. He was hammering down the wines, he has a promising future
@kaolis@ScottW58 On a visit with my youngest daughter (and likely 3rd son-in-law) about a year ago, I opened my last (I think) bottle of 2005 @WineSmith Faux Chablis and he expressed a sincere appreciation of it, so I figured he will be one I will approve.
@kaolis@Mark_L@ScottW58@winesmith My youngest daughter’s baby daddy and no doubt furure son in law, really likes the Penfolds Grandfather Port that I have provided on several occasions. Where do I go from there?
@FritzCat@kaolis@Mark_L@winesmith
Easy break out some of your Mollydookers or Camus he will probably love them and then you have a friend/drinking buddy at family get togethers
@kaolis@Mark_L@ScottW58@winesmith You’ve got a point there. Practically any of the Wagner wines would work, or Mollydookers, or a Two Hands, or Rombauer Zin or even something by Michael David. Anything over-extracted and over-manipulated with high alcohol…basically anything that the real winos here would complain about. Sure, I’ve got plenty of that.
@jmdavidson1@klezman@rjquillin we eat a lot of sushi around here and are blessed with several reasonably priced ayce options. This is the best by far! And the LF was a great pairing with lovely lemony notes and great acid. Zero dose FTW tonight!
Well to honor an old friend who passed last night way too young, well probably considered old by most of you youngins but too me 75 is young ugh. Anyways Andy was a very generous man who loved his big wines and SQN maybe the most so in his honor a big one with a steak, as good as a wine gets tonight!
@klezman This may be in its drinking window but could go a lot longer. Tannins are soft, the flavors have deepened and there is still mild acidity. A beautiful wine. I was surprised that this was recommended for this salad, but it totally worked. (BTW, this was a bin sale purchase on Benchmark.)
@jmdavidson1 Looks like we split 6 of the 2014 back in June 2016 at $35-ish per (compared to $125). I don’t think I have any of the 2013…unless I drank it all but I don’t recall drinking any. I’m doing ok, hope all is well with you guys!
@hscottk To be fair I only gave the bottle 1 day rest and i’m not a big fan of brut zero champagnes, that being said I will try both the 14 and 16 next week sometime before I pass final judgement. As it sits right now anything below 62 degrees zero fruit and all structure above that I was getting pears and lemon, very nice fine bead of bubbles though and John did say he was kind of surprised/happy that so many people loved it as it has only been in the bottle for 5 weeks or something. With so many people saying how great it is I did not get it? Will see next week
@ScottW58 It did seem to be a big hit over at WB. I’ve had mixed experiences with zero dosage. The LF Brut nature worked really well with sushi, but not so great on its own. The Cabot bottling is intriguing. Will be curious to hear how the tastings go next week!
@jmdavidson1 Day 2 follow up. Differences from day 1 to day 2 are amazing. This is so much better now. Bottow line…decant for hours or drink it on day 2.
Got some bbq for my birthday last night and opened something we got on the 2014 Tour shortly after getting engaged: 1999 Corison Petite Sirah Acappella
Wish she didn’t give up making PS. This was fantastic.
2017 Unturned Stone Productions Cabernet Sauvignon Spider Chase Waterhorse Ridge Vineyard, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma
Based on my initial tastes this is something that @WineDavid49 should seek out for selling here. Seems like it’s in the potential sweet spot.
Some of the 40-day Ribeye. Varying doneness from Med-Rare to a nice Char. Yeah, I’m an amateur. And all was good. Brussels Sprouts w/Bacon, Onion and Balsamic, and Artichokes for Greenery. The star of the show was the 2013 Shafer Relentless, decanted in glasses for 3 hours.
Kind of hard to post after @ScottW58… but my shoulders are broad… $10 wtso wine…again…sigh…but fired up the Ooni, a little Anson Mills dough…the flour cost more than the wine!
Was at a restaurant in CT and got a bottle of 2014 McIntyre Merlot, Kimberly Vineyard, Arroyo Seco
This was excellent - fruity but not overly ripe. Los of interest and complexity. Great balance. Perfect medium body and went well with steak and veal.
@klezman
There have been a couple of bottles, don’t recall of what, I really just didn’t care for at all. Looking at CT, my first recorded CS, so new to me.
This one was nice, if on the lighter side of the spectrum. Pnp with little decant and did improve in the glass. Plenty left for additional thoughts.
@rjquillin one vintage of Zinfandel that he sold here had a grassy thing going on that many didn’t care for. That’s probably what you’re thinking of.
This being a medium bodied Cabernet is exactly what I like about it.
@jmdavidson1 You’re bringing back some nice memories. In my wine store employ days a few trips to CA included a stop and a comped stay at Terra Valentine. That vineyard is right in front of the villa there and I watched them plant it.
Okay okay but my green cabbage/crap is laced with bacon and speaking of wine that is cheaper than the meal really nice Bordeaux for $14.50 from empire.
Burger…without a bun I think it’s referred to as chopped steak (actually tasty stuff from farm up the road)…last interior burger shot is for the doneness police @rjquillin…ha!
2019 Norton, Yolo
2015 Quell Pinot Noir (Stewart Cellars)
@ctmariner How was it? I really wanted some but they couldn’t seem to figure out the IL shipping until it was all but sold out.
@karenhynes It is another good pinot from Stewart. The notes said it was a good pinot for the winter and I agree - nice fruit with a hint of spice (maybe cinnamon), Sorry you missed out.
Happy Wednesday!

@kawichris650 That’s a great bottle. Wish I still had some.
2012 Two Jakes Cabernet Sauvignon with braised short ribs.
A little experiment tonight with instapot butter chicken, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy being retired! Hope it doesn’t change

@ScottW58 And what’s the result of the experiment? Curious minds want to know!
@klezman
Not really a fair fight being that I’m a Kelley Fox homer and from different parts of the world but I will say the Bichot was slightly more complete but I loved both of them and add 4 years to the KF and watch out IMHO.
@klezman @ScottW58 I think he wanted to know about the Instapot butter chicken! I can’t believe you’re talking about wine here!
Butter chicken is a great candidate for the pressure cooker, I can attest.
@InFrom @klezman
pretty much as good as it gets from a pressure cooker!
Lol good call
Had a pretty great wine on zoom with @chefjess tonight and since I only had a mag available so I will be drinking this for a day or two

@ScottW58 If you’re ever passing through Missouri, give a shout!
@Mark_L
You know I will!
Delicious tasting with @ScottW58. The nose was fantastic and it just kept getting better and better. Yum!
2019 trailhead Cabernet north coast
GO find and absolutely terrible.
@CorTot
always good to know the ones to avoid.
Not seen much of interest there lately.
One glass to rule them all…
Going out for molarchae’s birthday and taking a bottle of 2012 Charles Mignon Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Comte de Marne Millésime
@klezman
Happy Birthday to molarchae!
@klezman happy birthday!
@klezman
Happy Birthday to molarchae! Hope you both had a wonderful evening!
@klezman
Happy birthday hope you guys had a great night!
@ScottW58 We went to n/Soto. Excellent food.
@klezman
If you went to n/soto and didn’t get the Miso Baked Bone Marrow you can’t be my friend and I have to question your taste?
@ScottW58 I don’t think there’s ever a bone marrow on a menu that we wouldn’t be required to order…
I thought the miso topping was a bit too sweet but otherwise it was excellent. But I really don’t like mixing savoury things with sweet.
@klezman
Good to hear! I loved that dish, pretty unique.
@ScottW58 Lea knows how to make that sauce…I think we even have a little container of it that she made…
Hmmm pics from phone I’ve never figured out… anyway 2017 Smith Devereaux Cabernet, restaurant list for $71. Heard of but never had before.
@kaolis landscape is your friend.
Have to start from there, not rotate partway in.
@kaolis

You need to rotate your phone so you’re holding it sideways. Then tap on the photo icon (circled in red) to upload and insert images into your post.
2010 Patton Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
@CorTot
now gone the way of Wellington, unfortunately
@rjquillin
2011 Muscardini Tesoro w/ a meatball sub
@chipgreen We liked that one so much we joined their club, but the rest of winery line up was uninspiring, so we dropped.
@catcoland
Nice how is it?
@ScottW58 Delicious, a BD 10 purchase.
A really nice buy from Garagiste! With crispy wings

@ScottW58 I’ve picked up various Ca offerings and they have been solid buys for the $$.
@jmdavidson1
Pretty sure this was my first? This Boca bottle was for lack of a better word stunning and I only bought 3
@jmdavidson1 @ScottW58
How might this compare to the
2010 Ca‘ Rozzeria Barbaresco Neive
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin
No idea never had it?
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin @ScottW58 I’ve had a bunch of those - mostly they’re great values and occasionally they’re excellent.
Too bad I didn’t pick up the Boca, though, if it’s that good!
I got the 2010 Barolo, not the Barbaresco, and it was excellent a few weeks ago. I bet the Barbaresco would be similarly good by now.
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @rjquillin
You missed out for sure! I only bought it because the Vallana Boca’s are so good this one is at least as good if not better and I believe they will age for a long time
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin @ScottW58 Yeah, I think that one came during one of the more serious buying moratoriums. Oh well. Not like I’m short on wine!
2011 The Crusher “Big Orange”
w/ baked whitefish & pierogies
Every once in a while I think I’m smart and tonight was one of those nights
had a couple of filets which are tender but not much flavor. So salt pepper and a bunch of ground garlic and smoked them at 200 for 90 minutes to 120 degrees seared them off and they are really good! With a funky wine great dinner.

@ScottW58 Yup, that’s a good call. I’ll never understand why my mom prefers filet roast over most other steak.
2010 Wind Gap Wines Pinot Noir Woodruff Vineyard
So far it’s exactly what I’d hoped it would be! Glad I’ve got 3 of the 2015 coming from Ron…
@klezman I’m sure they’re sitting somewhere in a warehouse (along with the arc of the covenant).
@klezman You recall where we got them from.
I’ve not entered in CT, yet.
@rjquillin either garagiste or wine spies I think.
@klezman Wine Spies
@chipgreen
Nice night! Hmmm nilla wafers got to get some of those! And just the mention of pop tarts makes me happy
Really nice after a little time open.

@ScottW58 Good for price paid.
Kilkenny sale Buffalo wings. Now Scotch.
Italian night #2

@msten One of those doesn’t seem like it belongs…
@klezman The one on the right is from the Tain appellation in the Scottish Highlands. Single varietal.
Leftover chicken leftover brisket green stuff Yorkshire pudding and aa 20 Orr Royal Slope that was just delivered after a long but fruitfull day of golf

@ScottW58 My order arrived today also. I guess you don’t believe in travel shock
. So, is it ready to drink?
@davirom @ScottW58 also received delivery today…
@davirom
it’s a fine daily drinker, a little short on the finish but a nice merlot that will probably get even better. I have 6 so why not.
Correct

A fun Friday afternoon
@chefjess
Your Friday afternoons are a LOT more fun than mine!!!
@chefjess @karenhynes
And mine! What year was the Lillian syrah? I have one 10 left I think?
@karenhynes @ScottW58
2014. Well integrated and nice fruit. Lighter than expected for a syrah. Lovely.
It seems rather modest after that beautiful array, but we’ve been enjoying a bottle of Gruet Sauvage with and following salmon burgers.
@InFrom The problem with this Gruet bottle is that there’s just not enough wine in it.
Pretty damn nice with chili dogs and fries

@ScottW58 I was too damn slow on that BD offer
2013 Twisted Oak The Spaniard
I’ve been a bit distracted lately… nothing crazy good but serviceable… that’s a (mess of a) Morgan Ranch strip…
@kaolis
I e got a couple of those, just serviceable?
@ScottW58 Better than serviceable, in a good spot in fact. You should put one in the queue. I think that was the first bottle I had in six years if CT is correct, which it never is. Probably 1/2 case left. Also on the tail end of some sort of non-Covid bug.
@kaolis @ScottW58 is it the same weird fluish thing everyone else is getting???
My 7 year old was down for 3-4 days with a stomach flu with a high fever. And we all already had the flu in December.
Smoked chickens and Grace again I’ve done worse!

Making a duck as a late home-cooked birthday dinner for molarchae.
2014 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard
@klezman How’s the Silver Eagle?
2016 Chiron Cabernet Sauvignon The Paint of Moonlight
2016 The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir Eyrie
2019 Orr Wines Merlot What a nice bottle. From last year’s BD. Still one more left.

2014 St. Francis Merlot Rsv with teriyaki grilled salmon, grilled bok choy, grilled asparagus (we love grilled green stuff) and lemon spaghetti.
@jmdavidson1
+1 on grillin the green stuff!
Yesterday, 2013 Meeker Handprint Merlot

Today, 2007 Miller Wine Works Syrah
w/ Hot Buttered Cheesesteak
@chipgreen Those bottle pics look like straight from a LB mailer, the food, not so much.
@chipgreen
Yum hot buttered cheese steak where the hell do I sign
@rjquillin
Haha, just missing open cases on the floor, opened from the bottom.
@ScottW58
Probably not worth a trip to Ohio but if you ever take one…
@chipgreen
they were just okay btw
Don’t underestimate what I will do to try new food etc. I once drove 35 minutes out of our way north of Atlanta to try some hot boiled peanuts, the wife and kids were not happy
@chipgreen @ScottW58 Boiled peanuts suck…it’s a texture thing
@chipgreen @kaolis @ScottW58 Having grown up in the south, I kind of developed an appreciation for boiled peanuts.
@chipgreen @kaolis
I didn’t think they sucked but definitely different that what I’m used too. And glad I tried them even with the grief I received
@kaolis @ScottW58
I tried boiled peanuts once at a Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball game. It was suggested that we could eat the shells and all, so we did but I would never do it again! I could probably develop a taste for them without the shell but that experience pretty much ruined it for me.
@chipgreen @kaolis @ScottW58 I never tried eating them with the shells. I doubt I would enjoy that.
@chipgreen @Mark_L @ScottW58 Roasted peanuts rule… game over…discussion closed…spoken like a true Yankee transplanted to the South

@jmdavidson1 I keep missing these on BD…
@rjquillin The BD Black Cat is EMH, which has nice cabs. This Black Cat is a boutique winery in Napa. Exceptional wines. Inquiring drinkers shoukd check them out. Tell Tracy that I sent you.
@jmdavidson1 Visited the site, yes (brain fart), not EMH. Looks pretty interesting. How are they young?
@rjquillin At 10 y o, this syrah could have remained in the cellar for another 10.
@jmdavidson1 Thought that may be the case. I’m tending a bit to bottles I may still enjoy; the kids and g-kids can bicker over the remains.
Regular label or Blue label? Hell I don’t know, never could tell the difference. With a bad wing.
@kaolis
That’s the fancy label not the blue label
@kaolis Moved it to the top of the que with some homemade chicken noodle and onion soup.

@ScottW58 Inquiring minds??
@kaolis
Mine was good not great, a little more advanced than I was hoping.
@ScottW58 that was kind of my lean as well
Poker night - probably beer?
2014 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Zenith Vineyard
2007 WineSmith Cabernet Franc Lake County

Had a nice little Briords with @chefjess this afternoon!

I can’t get my pic to load. Oh well. Always a great time!!
@chefjess @ScottW58 Need to drink more of that
Mollydooker “The Boxer”, 2018 Shiraz 16% - Yum!
Day two of the 2015 Quell pinot picked up here recently, not impressed but for $13 tis what it tis… and 2017 Peachy Canyon Westside Zinfandel which was an offer here and a wtso offer, holding up nicely and honestly not a bad Wednesday wine
2013 Wellington Zinfandel Meeks Hilltop Ranch
It’s Wednesday, glad I finally dug these out.
2016 Briceland Zinfandel Ishi Pishi Ranch. Love this wine every vintage. 13.6%. yes it’s still Zinfandel.
Casemates purchase along with sea bass, aglio oglio spaghetti and zucchini/tomato medley.
@jmdavidson1 How was it? I love Amarone, and got a case of the mixed.
@FritzCat @jmdavidson1
Yes would love to know! Don’t drink it often but when I do I have loved it. Great looking meal btw
@ScottW58 we are looking forward to seeing both of you!
2007 Bodega Los Aljibes Selectus
$15 from Woodland Hills and it sure doesn’t taste 16 years old - more like 6.
@klezman
burned through those looong ago.
OMG I remember I bought a case of those from Costco for something like 9.99 a bottle, they were great and at $15 you still got a pretty great deal
@ScottW58 yeah, I bought these a few months ago. A few extra $ for the extra storage years seems totally reasonable.
2012 Virage Vineyards Bourriquot
yum
@rjquillin @klezman
I wonder if mine have come in yet
@rjquillin @ScottW58 I emailed you that they did a few weeks ago

It’s as Irish as wine gets! With Shake Shack and Crumbl cookies.
Apparently the dog was day drinking and wants to recline.
@karenhynes He’s not the only one!
@karenhynes it’s just a matter of perspective
Having this with steak and it’s drinking beautifully.

Really good Berkshire pork and another one of these beauties!

Another recent pickup: 2006 Parador Reserva, Napa Valley. Cab Sauv and Tempranillo
Trying it with the first of this year’s dry aged steak
@klezman your own aged right?
@kaolis You bet! 65 days this year. Little to no funk since I don’t have the microbial environment for it, but some oxidation of the fats and an intensely beefy flavour.
Great when we opened it on Tuesday, and still great when we finished it tonight.

@InFrom these seem to have a great life
@rjquillin Yes, sadly we just killed the last one.
@rc70
Nice! How was it?
BD 4 yr vertical at a Duke/Dutchess tariff. Pretty nice.
@msten just picked up mine yesterday.
Any thoughts yet?
Gonna let 'em settle for at least a few days…
@kaolis
man I have to get out to SC.
That’s right you drink your 100 pointers while sitting on the lake eating scallops! I’m jelly
@kaolis @ScottW58
Must be some kind of a special day, but that would make any day special.
@rjquillin @ScottW58 Just a Saturday night, impetus was staring at wayyyyy too many cellar defenders I seem to have accumulated over the last year or so…
@kaolis @rjquillin
Ha! I figured that problem out, daughters wedding coming up so donated 70 bottles of daily drinkers that I don’t seem to want to drink. Quite liberating and 2 more weddings coming up
@kaolis @rjquillin @ScottW58 that’s a lot of wine you don’t want to drink!
That’s a lot of weddings……
Like my wife’s family, her 3 siblings all got married over 2 years and started cranking out kids. 5 kids during covid.
@kaolis @rjquillin @cortot
Well don’t buy too many daily drinkers or don’t start buying so many higher end wines cause at some point the daily drinkers are not very appealing. 5 kids during COVID?! Well I guess they had nothing better to do haha

@CorTot Another, as in many, I had to look up…I’m assuming not really distributed?
@kaolis I think I got it here.
SWMBO’s birthday sushi.
@hscottk “drooling” over that plate!!
@hscottk @jmdavidson1 That is a nice way to do it!
@hscottk @jmdavidson1 @klezman
SWMBO just returned from TX; we did similar tonight as well.
Her B-day was the 18th.
@hscottk @jmdavidson1 @rjquillin we ended up with sushi, but with a totally inappropriate red opened up before we’d decided on that.
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @rjquillin we eat a lot of sushi around here and are blessed with several reasonably priced ayce options.
@ScottW58 bummer
Pour one out
@klezman @ScottW58 Here’s to keeping the memory alive for those we have lost.
@hscottk @klezman @ScottW58 A nice tribute. Best to you and all of his friends and warm thoughts for his family.
@ScottW58
It’s never easy losing a friend or family member. Cheers in his honor.
Sorry for your loss.
@ScottW58
I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. What a nice toast to his memory.
Thanks everyone!
@jmdavidson1 How was it? I haven’t had any of their stuff with that much age.
@jmdavidson1
That’s a fantastic spread JM! I even like your salad
Damn this is good
A great tasting with @ScottW58!
And my part good times

@jmdavidson1
I opened a bottle of their 2014 a few months ago and thought it was quite good!
@karenhynes Was it a case we split? I haven’t opened any of the 14’s yet. Hope you’re doing well.
@jmdavidson1 Looks like we split 6 of the 2014 back in June 2016 at $35-ish per (compared to $125). I don’t think I have any of the 2013…unless I drank it all but I don’t recall drinking any. I’m doing ok, hope all is well with you guys!
Finally syncing up for a Wellington Wednesday.
2010 Tytanium
With fried chicken

@ScottW58 Ok, how good is it?
@hscottk @ScottW58 didn’t realize he even did those
@hscottk To be fair I only gave the bottle 1 day rest and i’m not a big fan of brut zero champagnes, that being said I will try both the 14 and 16 next week sometime before I pass final judgement.
With spaghetti and meatballs.
@msten nice!
@kaolis @msten
Some great wines from that producer!
A casemates purchase. Tasty
2013 Wellington Zinfandel Meeks Hilltop Ranch
@rjquillin
Nice! I had a 2011 last night.
2012 Wellington Victory Reserve
@catcoland How was it? Drink/hold?
@hscottk Not over the hill but a little muted, better on day 2. I have a lot of these, will drink another one soon.
2020 Acquiesce Grenache Rosé Lodi
…and tonight the Pedroncelli needs a nap.
@karenhynes does it need a wake-up call?
@rjquillin Sure, why not?
@karenhynes @rjquillin anyone know a good lawyer…tweaked my neck checking out the Pedroncelli…ha!
@kaolis @karenhynes Don’t twist it so fast!
@karenhynes @rjquillin I don’t do anything fast anymore…
arugula stuffed pork tenderloin
@kaolis way to go, hiding those greens from @scottw58
@kaolis @rjquillin
Oh hell yeah!
@jmdavidson1
Yup he knows
@jmdavidson1 Day 2 follow up. Differences from day 1 to day 2 are amazing. This is so much better now. Bottow line…decant for hours or drink it on day 2.
1996 Faustino Rioja I Gran Reserva
Good bottle this time, last was flawed.
@kaolis Nice looking cook on those wings!
2011 Wellington Cabernet Sauvignon Handal-Denier
With Flannery NY & RibEye, Pesto pasta.
@rc70 How was the Calla Lily?
@kaolis Drinking very well, hour decant. Black fruit, earthy. Last one, wish I had a few more. I think its in prime time now.
Got some bbq for my birthday last night and opened something we got on the 2014 Tour shortly after getting engaged: 1999 Corison Petite Sirah Acappella
Wish she didn’t give up making PS. This was fantastic.
@klezman Sounds like the makings of a great bday dinner. Many happy returns.
@klezman
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
@InFrom @karenhynes thank you!
@klezman Happy Birthday sir!
@klezman
Yes! Happy birthday
@klezman
Hope you had a truly amazing birthday!
@klezman
Happy birthday!!

I moan about too many everyday drinkers and the next thing I know this on the doorstep…
@kaolis
Lol tell me about it, I just had to buy 6 more of these because my local grocery store had a great price today. It’s a sickness I tell ya ugh.
@ScottW58 Well that looks interesting… bought 3 each 2016/18/19 today whilst drinking my $9.99 WTSO wine…and I don’t even feel sick…
@kaolis
Ha!
@ScottW58 well maybe a little ill…
@kawichris650 That should just be starting to hit its stride!
2018 Stereophonic Gruner Veltliner with roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and sautéed mixed squash
2015 CR Graybehl Grenache Mathis Vineyard
Did a zoom with @chefjess and popped a 19 for science, pretty nice wine

Then made some fried chicken (damn good if I don’t say so myself) so was required to pop a champagne! And this was easily in the top 5 of all time

@ScottW58 Now that’s a Tuesday done right!
Just a little something with some Albondigas soup.

@ScottW58 damn, you’re eating and drinking well this week!
Kind of hard to post after @ScottW58… but my shoulders are broad… $10 wtso wine…again…sigh…but fired up the Ooni, a little Anson Mills dough…the flour cost more than the wine!
@kaolis
“flour cost more than the wine” lol whatever it takes nice looking pie! Is that onions or figs?
@kaolis good looking pie!
Cards home opener and going away happy hour for our ops manager.
@chefjess Well that looks tasty… opening day loss
@chefjess that’s a seriously nice lineup!
@chefjess @kaolis
Can’t say I feel bad for the Cards loss, sorry but the cards ruined many of my dreams through my life but I love you Missouri people
@chefjess
Fantastic lineup!
@chefjess @kaolis @ScottW58 I love being in Missouri, but I’m still a loyal Cubs fan (and they won)!
2011 Harvest Moon Cabernet Sauvignon Buchignani Ranch
@rjquillin how’d you like it? That’s always been a QPR winner for me
@klezman
@klezman I’m almost thinking it was a PN I didn’t care for, but, alas, no notes I can find.
@rjquillin oh, that also sounds familiar. No matter
That’s a nice Friday-night lineup!
@InFrom @karenhynes
Always nice to see bubbles!
@kaolis sprout overload? or protein underload?
eventually got balanced out…ha!
@kaolis that’s a lot of green shit.
@karenhynes keeps things moving…
@kaolis @karenhynes
Everything else looks great tho.
Woof yeah a lot of shit!
@karenhynes @ScottW58 Told you I balanced it out, so settle down…and none of that shit was bad shit, just sayin’…
@kaolis @karenhynes
Easy big fella nobody was questioning your taste… Well maybe me
@kaolis @karenhynes @ScottW58 Nice spread….and knife! Shun?
@hscottk @karenhynes @ScottW58 tough crowd…even tougher when us right coasters are 3 hours later than some of you lefties…Shun Ken Onion steak
@kaolis Those greens look quite tasty, that meat, a bit more red in the middle perhaps.
Sashimi and sake here tonight, and the tuna was bright red.
@rjquillin thinner end of a Morgan Ranch strip…that said I do take 'em a hair longer to render a little bit more of the yumminess
@jmdavidson1 your entire meal (and the wine) sounds delicious!
@karenhynes Yea, but look at you drinking 3 bottles of deliciousness.
@jmdavidson1 You’re bringing back some nice memories. In my wine store employ days a few trips to CA included a stop and a comped stay at Terra Valentine. That vineyard is right in front of the villa there and I watched them plant it.
Okay okay but my green cabbage/crap is laced with bacon
and speaking of wine that is cheaper than the meal really nice Bordeaux for $14.50 from empire.

@ScottW58 wine wins…ha!
Scotch
Burger…without a bun I think it’s referred to as chopped steak (actually tasty stuff from farm up the road)…last interior burger shot is for the doneness police @rjquillin…ha!
@kaolis Looks really tasty.
We finally did the corned beef thing with that Flannery offering.
Now, we both need to progress to April!

@rjquillin Damn! Old and slow raise your hand? Present!
