@rjquillin@ScottW58 I need to shuffle the case of that and the case of Tercero sitting on the floor and put your name on one of them!
When you coming up to visit us and your wine? And to take the non-locker bottles home?
2017 Andronicus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (red wine)
Don’t know where I got it, but it’s fantastic.
Great the first night, very good tonight.
I labelled the bottles 2000, 2001, etc.
I think because the first one I drank wasn’t ready.
This was the 2001 and it’s ripe, perhaps I should
change my mind on this one, and drink 'em all.
I did pick a flower off my cilantro, and ate it, just before the night 2 taste, which may have affected the flavor.
@bunnymasseuse for the record, this is a crappy week on a week not desired to be crappy (tomorrow is the birth of a bun…) but work is relentless in it’s pain and agony, so I look forward to the salmon pasta I will get from my folks on Friday and looking still for the perfect wine pairing for that salmon pasta meal… that salmon being fresh from AK none of that farm raised stuff
@bunnymasseuse@chipgreen@radiolysis A lighter Zinfandel is also a good salmon pairing. Like Harvest Moon or one of the other major older-school producers with some age.
@chipgreen@klezman@radiolysis This was the end result, but the taste took a while to develop, after about an hour of air drank like a mix of prune&plum and it was delicious.
2016 Peterson Zinfandel, Bernier Zinyard
The other half of the case that I ratted, enjoyed, and ordered. Very happy to have 11 bottles of the case left to enjoy!
With a couple of Pizzas:
Homemade Pesto w/mushrooms and smoked chicken leg.
Homemade Kalamata Olive Tapenade w/mushrooms and smoked chicken leg.
Oh my!
@FritzCat Very good wine, but I tasted a little funk…cork taint, but SWMBO didn’t. Didn’t enhance the Pesto Pizza, but went incredibly well with the Olive Pizza, so smooth, they played together like Hall & Oates or Simon & Garfarkle.
@hscottk leaving out the Marqués and York Creek due to age, the Virage with WineSmith #2.
The Tognetti and Ocean Reserve both went quickly, followed by the Sauvage. Pedroncelli beat out the Isa too…
@CorTot@ScottW58
Ed, partner, created the guest list that was 40~50 in numbers. About 30 drifted in and out and not all were wine drinkers. Unlike a true ‘Gathering’ we had leftovers…
@klezman
Well for the price I get them for I hope so, for the resell price I doubt anything is that good! I will let you know when I drink, went into the decanter for four hours and back into the bottle for 3. As soon as the steaks are done the initial drop or 2 was pretty awesome tho.
@klezman
Okay to make this easy I am a buyer for life but you guys would hate it so don’t ask me to open any bottles god I hope to live long enough to open one at maturity!
Coravin’d 2008 Wellington Victory with Morgan striploin and green beans. And birthday cake! These striploins are fantastic and the wine was firing on all cylinders.
Making Out With Strawberry Raspberry Snowball
Sour ABV 5.7%
A dessert sour with heaps of strawberry, raspberry, a touch of lactose & then dollop of marshmallow. Has a nice balance of sweet and tart.
@bunnymasseuse Making Out with Rainbow Sherbet
Sour ABV 6.5%
A berliner weisse style sour that tastes like a scoop of rainbow sherbet in your glass. Contains blood orange, pink guava, macadamia nut, almond, & a touch of milk sugar.
Toast with Nola’s Ventresca tuna belly and a smear of Sorrel aoli I made, lettuce and tomato from the garden. This tuna is unbelievable! A glass of leftover chard from last night.
@pjmartin We’re drinking the '07 tonight. Maybe not quite a “wow”, but very nice, especially as the evening progresses. From the rats, it did sound like the '05 was the prize of the pack.
@klezman yep, loads of fruit, resolved tannins here. First night with beef tenderloin, second night with lamb. Every bottle is a reminder of how consistently enjoyable Wellington wines are. Your thoughts?
Went to a brewpub that served Momofuku food. Lot sof fruity sour beers and something I’ve never seen before: a white stout. Tasted like cookies and cream ice cream!
Then got gelato…truffle maple sage.
Monday Mowing Madness featuring Crazy Cocktails. 3 oz. Moonstone Plum Sake (from way back in the WW days) + 1 oz. Ouzo + 2 oz. Bubly Blackberry sparkling water. I’m calling it a Licorice Whip. You have to say “Whip” like this;
@chefjess
Pretty sure I drank the 96 also, for me the 2000 and 98 were really close. Still have to drink the 04 and 05. Looking forward to it! Saving a couple of bottles for next years Oregon trip @danandlisa
2019 WineSmith Tejada Vineyard Tempranillo , Ahead of the Tuesday zoom event with @winesmith for the “other” site… which this bottle I originally got at RWS.
@msten
Yeah love those cutting boards, picked two of them up at a farmers market in Oregon that @danandlisa told us about when we were looking for fresh strawberries. Wish I could find the guys card that makes them because now my family wants them too and was very happy with the bottle!
Finishing this off, sister in-law sent me 4 of these beautiful Conterno glasses they are really nice! And making duck l’orange. Don’t know what I will drink with that. Any ideas?
@ScottW58 nice! How’d that Gaja??
Canard a l’orange… Pinot could work well as long as the sauce isn’t too sweet. People say that Rivers Marie has notes of orange peel…
2007 Torcido from my random case. Wow, drinking very well
If I said it was hot before I lied, it’s really hot now ugh!
@ScottW58 How is this?
Klez has my half of the split.
@rjquillin
Delicious and even better when it’s over 100 degrees!
@rjquillin @ScottW58 I need to shuffle the case of that and the case of Tercero sitting on the floor and put your name on one of them!
When you coming up to visit us and your wine? And to take the non-locker bottles home?
Drinking tomorrow night’s offer, but I’m thinking I may pull out something else to give this some air until tomorrow.
Local breweries
Have supplied tonight’s tipple.
Tomorrow? Ripple.
So after haiku
Iambic pentameter?
Or maybe sonnets.
@davirom I read that as Lambic pentameter…
@davirom
Every one of those words are Greek to me?
@davirom @ScottW58 OK, haiku isn’t Greek, it’s Japanese.
@FritzCat lol
@FritzCat Nice tie-in to @brainmist, but it doesn’t scan.
2017 Andronicus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (red wine)
Don’t know where I got it, but it’s fantastic.
Great the first night, very good tonight.

change my mind on this one, and drink 'em all.
I did pick a flower off my cilantro, and ate it, just before the night 2 taste, which may have affected the flavor.
@FritzCat or maybe you “smoked” a flower and then…
@kitkat34 I tried to smoke a turkey the other day, but the paper got soggy.
Sunday-Monday and Tuesday enjoyment
@bunnymasseuse for the record, this is a crappy week on a week not desired to be crappy (tomorrow is the birth of a bun…) but work is relentless in it’s pain and agony, so I look forward to the salmon pasta I will get from my folks on Friday and looking still for the perfect wine pairing for that salmon pasta meal… that salmon being fresh from AK none of that farm raised stuff
@bunnymasseuse
Have you tried Pinot Noir?
@bunnymasseuse @chipgreen Pinot and Gamay are my go-to for salmon. Now i want salmon…
@chipgreen @radiolysis I do have Pinot, have not tried with salmon before… not sure if I have Gamay…
@bunnymasseuse @chipgreen @radiolysis Pinot is our go to with salmon, but gamay is intriguing or maybe cinsault
@davirom yeah! Basically i’ll think of salmon as turkey-of-the-ocean. Cinsault is good at Thanksgiving, so it’d be good with some salmon dishes.
@bunnymasseuse @radiolysis
If you have any Beaujolais, you have Gamay.
@bunnymasseuse @chipgreen @radiolysis A lighter Zinfandel is also a good salmon pairing. Like Harvest Moon or one of the other major older-school producers with some age.
@chipgreen @klezman @radiolysis This was the end result, but the taste took a while to develop, after about an hour of air drank like a mix of prune&plum and it was delicious.
@bunnymasseuse @chipgreen @klezman yum!
@bunnymasseuse great choice! The Keller is sooooo good
It’s Wednesday!

@klezman @rc70 noted!

Probably could have if he had a 4th person
@ScottW58 I read it all as the same person, that’s a lot of wine for 2 people.
@CorTot @ScottW58
Ed, partner, created the guest list that was 40~50 in numbers. About 30 drifted in and out and not all were wine drinkers. Unlike a true ‘Gathering’ we had leftovers…
Cooking some flannery Jorge steaks and figured WTH I have been buying my allocation and you only live once so might as well try one!

I just restocked on Jorges in the current Flannery sale. Yum.

2019 Dry Creek Valley Fume Blanc. On sale at the grocery and couldn’t pass it up.
@radiolysis That’s my favourite inexpensive white. At under $10 when it gets that low it’s a steal.
@klezman yeah. 12.99 at Stater Bros so it was a buy. Certainly not closeout pricing, but good enough that i bought wine at a grocery store.
CH Lot 400.
It’s WW
Polished off an entire bottle with help of a friend and weekly trivia event… and we won!
@bunnymasseuse
Congrats!
2014 Long Point Zinfandel
I’ve got to reiterate once again…best wine in the Finger Lakes region.
With Elote and Kielbasa.
wow this is nice! Find more deals like this @winedavid
@pjmartin We’re drinking the '07 tonight. Maybe not quite a “wow”, but very nice, especially as the evening progresses. From the rats, it did sound like the '05 was the prize of the pack.
@msten
Nice! What did you think of the Ferguson?
@ScottW58 very good at 1 hour. Plenty of fruit balanced with silky tannins.
@msten That Wellington Syrah was pretty good last week too!
@klezman yep, loads of fruit, resolved tannins here. First night with beef tenderloin, second night with lamb. Every bottle is a reminder of how consistently enjoyable Wellington wines are. Your thoughts?
@msten Yup! Finally coming into its own and not so fruit dominant now.
2018 Côte West Zinfandel Del Barba Vineyard
Went to a brewpub that served Momofuku food. Lot sof fruity sour beers and something I’ve never seen before: a white stout. Tasted like cookies and cream ice cream!

@klezman love me sour beers with 4%ABV and taste like jooose (that’s right all you RVA The Answer fans…), sounds like my kinda place!
@bunnymasseuse These were 6.9%…and still alarmingly easy to drink

The 98 tonight very happy!

So now after the 95, 98, and 2000 what are your thoughts? Favorite?

Pretty sure I drank the 96 also, for me the 2000 and 98 were really close. Still have to drink the 04 and 05. Looking forward to it! Saving a couple of bottles for next years Oregon trip @danandlisa
@ScottW58 I will happily cook if you supply the wine. Check out Joel Palmer House. Might have to make the trek some weekend night while you are here.
@danandlisa
Yeah Palmer house looks fantastic! We are in for both
2019 WineSmith Tejada Vineyard Tempranillo , Ahead of the Tuesday zoom event with @winesmith for the “other” site… which this bottle I originally got at RWS.
With a Morgan ranch sirloin God they are good! And green stuff
Nice mixed wood board. I’m sure the wine was good too.
@msten
Yeah love those cutting boards, picked two of them up at a farmers market in Oregon that @danandlisa told us about when we were looking for fresh strawberries. Wish I could find the guys card that makes them because now my family wants them too and was very happy with the bottle!
@msten @ScottW58 I believe they are called Twisted Tidewater. I see them almost every Saturday. They have a FB page.
@danandlisa @msten
That’s it thank you!
@danandlisa @msten @ScottW58 I have a good friend who makes wooden boards with really cool designs. Let me know if you want me to put you in touch!

@rjquillin vintage?
@hscottk duh… Guess it was even better than I thought.
@hscottk @rjquillin I’ve still got all of mine I think. You’ve actually tried a wine before me….
@CorTot @hscottk
It’s what happens when the box is on the top of the stack, for whatever reason.
@CorTot @rjquillin And I have a couple of 14s floating around somewhere. Might be time.
Paradux Pinot Gris with pan seared cod garlic butter sauce & capers. Really nive!
No wine with dinner but now working on a Magnotta Cabernet Franc sparkling icewine. Non vintage, but old enough that there are zero bubbles remaining.
@radiolysis Sale going on there this weekend too…
@rjquillin it was fantastic, but I bought a little too much at LB during the marathon.
Finishing this off, sister in-law sent me 4 of these beautiful Conterno glasses they are really nice! And making duck l’orange. Don’t know what I will drink with that. Any ideas?
@ScottW58 nice! How’d that Gaja??

@klezman

2017 Willamette Valley Vineyards Whole Cluster Pinot Noir
2008 Roessler Pinot Noir Red Birds
@rjquillin picked up a couple of more recent vintages during the LB marathon last week.
16 hein vineyard
18 Lennox vineyard
@CorTot
Wonder how they’ll compare.
Totally passed on the LB event; no room, but I guess I could have sent them your way…
@rjquillin I bought 2 of each and that’s it for reds. Add to that 3 Dutton-Goldfield rose of Pinot.
Couldn’t even fill a case.
@CorTot @rjquillin missed the Lennox, grabbed 3 Hein. I have found the Lennox brighter and richer. Like them both
2013 Keller Estate Syrah Rotie
@rc70 those are pretty tasty as well.
Your post the other day prompted me, and, it was on the top of a stack.
This is better than the 2005.
@pjmartin Small world, we had the '09 last night, and we have the same set of glasses.
