The last baseball game I went to was when I was a student at Ohio State. They had a ticket package to try and get butts in the stands that included a shirt, hot dog, etc. for something really cheap.
Only for students, you could enter your name and if picked for the magic inning, the first hit OSU records gets you a gift certificate to the campus bookstore. 25 for single, 100 for homerun, you get the gist.
First two batters failed to get on base. Then a homerun! I was the lucky student. Which paid for almost an entire textbook.
It may be about 10 years since my last (of perhaps 7 or eight - had to spell out 8 so it didn’t come out as with the closing parentheis) Cubs game. Went to 2 or 3 White Sox games (not my team of choice, but at one time elementary students could win free tickets for completing certain reading challenges).
