Supporting a friend for her vegan Lent season and her hubby through his Vegetarian Lent season so… yeah, why not. I’ve lost 15# in 1.5months, must be something to it!
This is a whole can of worms for me. Like, I go to some moderate lengths to decrease animal suffering and my environmental impact, but my contribution means nothing on its own. I do wish everyone would just reduce like 25-50% but, you know, freedom or whatever. Does anything really matter anymore?
@Superllama7 your doing it does matter (and you’re doing it for all the right reasons), it’s just subtle. You tell your friends, in a nice non-preachy way, they at least think about. The person behind you at the market checkout line notices you have healthy food and not slabs of dead cow in your cart and thinks, “maybe I should look into that”. Someone at a party or gathering notices you’re not scarfing down the beef ribs but still having a good time with the veg kabobs and a veggie burger - Real change is subtle. Keep at it.
I did it for 6 months to help lower cholesterol, and it got worst…Started eating meat in moderation this time around and it’s much better. Same goes with wine, only one bottle gets opened a week. Definitely becoming more mindful of the energy I’m putting in these days if I’m wanting to have fun in the long run.
No problem for a day or two-- it’s not unusual for me to go a day or two without any meat, fish, or eggs. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a steak-- or much of anything in the way of beef. But I wouldn’t want to give up bacon. And I definitely want a little sausage on my pizza.
I was a vegetarian for 12 years. Then I got married and my wife asked me to smoke some ribs for her. They smelled so good I couldn’t resist. Never recovered from that.
Been there; done that.
Not again.

Been vegetarian as a new years thing. It took work at first but now it’s natural

@DickL
Been vegetarian since 1997 and about 90% vegan. I still eat eggs, cheese (usually on pizza) and ice cream, though only about once a week.
I’m sorry but I joined the “Meat Church” so this is where I stand.

I was a vegetarian for about a decade. That decade is loooong gone.
Meat.
There are hunters, and there are gatherers.
I’ve been lucky, and could gather meat at the grocery store, so I guess I am both.
