I don’t think we’ve seen any bottles larger than magnums at this site. Would have to go back to the old days and the site that shall not be named. Let’s do it!!
I think a couple of us chipped in to buy a 3L Iron Horse Wedding Cuvée for @klezman and bride and presented at the joint Newbie/Veteran Historical Tour gathering dinner in 2014?
@MarkDaSpark
IIRC, there was only one tour (to rule them all!) in 2014. The ovelapping newbie/vet tour was 2012 when HAK and Cat got engaged at Corison. I remember WD sprang (sprung?) for a mag of Mumm at Suite D but now unsure if that was for Hak/Cat in '12 or Klez/Mol in '14.
@chipgreen@MarkDaSpark That’s a gorgeous jeroboam!
But the timing of engagements didn’t permit any purchases while we were at Iron Horse on the 2014 Tour. It wasn’t until the next day when I could corner her to ask! I think Dave is right that it was in the 2012 Tour because I do vaguely remember that bottle.
In my own cellar I’ve only ever had 3 mags of Iron Horse, one of which we opened for molarchae’s birthday a couple months ago.
@chipgreen@MarkDaSpark That would be correct, and the gift was to HAK/Cat for their Wedding - at which a wonderful time was had by all, including the happy couple and the handfull of W**ters present!
There was a small group for my retirement party at Cooper’s Hawk which was held in a private room. When the waitress came in at the “billing time”, she said we were quite a bit short of the minimum for the room and asked if we wanted to order some bottles of wine “to go”. The VP that was there got me a 9L bottle, which I still have since I haven’t had an occasion where it would make sense to open it. (The current price on their website is $275.)
We made good use of our first 3L Iron Horse Wedding Cuvee. Had it at our wedding Bridal table and a 750 of the same at every other table. Still have one left. Might break that out for our 10th anniversary in '26.
When COVID broke out I bought this double mag because I thought it would look cool sitting on my bar, never intend to drink it. Clearly some people have more money than brains!
The other site once had a random double Magnum offering of Geyser Peak Meritage. 3 different vintages with 2012 being the “golden ticket”. I got the 2012.
I still remember the 3L and 4L bottles Peter Wellington brought to the second night’s dinner on the 2008 rpm Magical History Tour…a Zin and a Cabernet, a 1994 and a 1995…truly amazing wines, maturing nicely, but still showing youthful fruit; having long lives to go…And there was a 3L bottle of Wellington served on the 2018 Lodi/Amador tour as well…
A, B and C; not D

@StingingJ
There was a 2012 St. Supery Cab Sauv 3L sold on the old site. Were there others I don’t remember?
@chipgreen @StingingJ
I’ve got a bottle of that, but entered as a club purchase in Dec of '15
@rjquillin @StingingJ
If my CT is accurate, it was puchased on 11-28-14 from WW.
@chipgreen @rjquillin yep, that matches my memory. I was thinking there was another but maybe not…
@chipgreen @rjquillin @StingingJ I have a 2013 Clayhouse 3l from the old site. May need to pop that soon.

Photo of one I bought for my nephew and bride …
@MarkDaSpark wow!

It must have been for HAK and Cat then! And I thought it was thru WW. But it was 2012 then. I remember we got up and presented it to them.
Because if 2008 was the first tour, I know I skipped the next one [2010).
@chipgreen @klezman @MarkDaSpark
The '12 is what I recall, for HAK and Cat.

@Mark_L
9L? Equivalent to an entire case. Nice!
@Mark_L Sounds like fun…Cooper’s Hawk is a fun chain and a great place for a party…one has to be, shall we say, discerning in selecting what to drink…
Needless to say, there are quite a few winning bids for 3L Magnums from Dark & Delicious auctions through the early years!

I could use more of both!
