TASTING NOTES:
Heart of the Vineyard - “Vanilla, Myer lemon, and red apple dominate the nose. Stone fruit on the front palate, with, with honeysuckle and green apple in the mid-palate. Creamy and smooth with a hint of oak on the finish.” (AbV 13.1%, pH 3.6, TA 5.5 g/L)

Heritage - “Green apple, honeysuckle, mandarin orange, and vanilla are the predominant aroma of this vintage of Heritage Chardonnay. Creamy with good acid. Flavor of baked apple pie on the front palate transitions into vanilla with a hint of caramel flavors on the back palate.” (AbV 13.8%, pH 3.35, TA 4.9 g/L)

VARIETALS: Chardonnay and Chardonnay.

BARRELS: Heart of the Vineyard in 100% French oak, majority new. Heritage in 40% French oak.

THAT REMINDS ME: To beware Greeks bearing gifts.

The Trojan horse was the ploy that finally ended the Trojan War in the Greeks’ favor. Unable to breach the walls through conventional means in a prolonged siege, the stories say Odysseus devised the plan to fake their armies leaving and bring a large wooden horse to the gates of Troy as an offering. Inside the horse would be a small strike force of soldiers who, under cover of night, could open the gates for the Greek army, which would return from the sea. They left just one guy to bring it to the gate. Must’ve been buff as heck.

Now, some people actually saw through the ruse. Cassandra, a prophet and princess, said the horse would be the downfall of Troy. Nobody believed her, however, because nobody was allowed to believe any of her predictions. Such was her curse.

A man named Laocoön guessed what was happening, but was silenced before he could really protest. And by silenced, I mean strangled along with his sons by serpents sent by Poseidon. Very inconspicuous. Anyway, he’s the one who said the famous line about Greeks bearing gifts.
